There is a common trend in the U.S. where married women are leaving their husbands. My wife got pregnant from another man while we were married. She left me and our 12yr old son and had the baby with the other guy. Now she's with a totally different guy. I raised my son, homeschooled him, sent him to college, now we work together and are building his first house. I ended up finding who I thought was my true love while my son was in college. We married and had some good years, but she ended up leaving as well, after I supported her to get her bachelor's and master's degree. Women approach me often to date me, but now I wonder what they hope to get out of me. I don't think they're intentions are really to go through life together, but rather what they can get out of a man before going to the next man. I want to share life with someone special, but it's hard to trust anymore. I just focus on sharing life with my son and my brother, sister, and father. Hopefully I could find someone, but I don't know how to believe a woman's true intentions anymore.

But they will stay in touch with female friends but rarely a male friend, so you never need to worry about them going back to old boyfriend etc. Next, family. Yes it is hard for them to leave parents only for the most part, but they always say they will visit someday, so they do not think of it as they are in another country, but as though they are much closer.

"Soulmate." Now that was is a key word mentioned by one of the interviewees. The most important factors in a relationship are character, personality, interests not too wide apart, and similar culture (easier to understand each other) makes life easier.
Looks come far down the list for a relationship. A healthy relationship is built on love, not lust. Lust is attraction to looks, and that can lead to love, but it is not love in itself. The tendency in the West of falling in lust is one of the primary causes of the high divorce rate.
Love is deeper, soul to soul, and then looks are not so important.

Eli, women across the world have the same values. Trust, honest love, sharing responsibilities. So if you meet a foreigner they would want the same things. I married a Samoan woman and we were married for 31 years and had 4 children, two girls 2 boys. Sadly my lovely wife passed away from cancer in 2006. Now when first married it was two different cultures which we both had to learn to deal with, especially the parents.

I truly agree that love doesn't depend on culture or where you're from. My girlfriend came from the Dominican Republic and moved to The Netherlands with her family because her mother married a Dutch man she met online. Me and my girlfriend love each other even when we are from quite different cultures and countries. Of course we are different but it's no problem. She moved to The Netherlands almost 2 years ago and I met her in March of this year. She can already speak Dutch quite well.

Way more important than the momentary feelings of "love" and lust which are just temporary and will fade eventually, leaving you with a person you no longer feel any kind of passion anymore, who you aren't actually compatible with. I have several Russian friends. They're pretty and slim, yes, and they're nice people, generous, sociable and family-oriented. Being very involved in their respective families was the thing that surprised me the most about them. More so bec not everyone in California's like that. I thought they would be more detached. I can only say that about my friends. By the way, they're all professionals. Don't know if that's really how Russians are, in general.

I have a Russian wife as well LOL. But my story is entirely different - we both grew up in the same city in Eastern Europe - I was born there, and her parents moved there for work; and we've known each other from childhood. It made a huge difference since we are from very similar cultures, and we speak Russian at home (since my Russian is a lot better than her Lithuanian!).
As for some of the comments here, that a lot of thse girls can be gold-diggers who just want citizenship in a Western country - yes that can be very true. You just have to be careful. If she is hot and has a super-outgoing personality, and you're an average-looking introverted guy, it is too obvious she is only interested in your Western passport. Look for a girl that matches your looks, and more importantly, matches your personality. I've seen how quiet mild-mannered girls just go overlooked because they do not draw attention to themselves.

I'm not sure that's true. I think that a lot of Americans have a distrust for the Russian government (mostly because the soviets we're so polar opposite of what America stands for) but I don't think anyone actively thinks actual Russian _people_ are bad.
I think when most Americans see Russian people they just assume they're made of meat and potatoes and only play hockey in their free time.

@@herranton Do you mean it's difficult to make a society of half a billion people with different ethnicities and culture?
First of all USA population is more likely 1/3rd of a billion. And no it's not difficult to make a nation and different ethnicities and cultures. Look at India, population is ~1.4 billion with 22 major languages (dialects 1600) with different ethnicities and cultures (more diverse than US). Although like any other place it's not perfect, but definitely more open minded than USA, except the people who are influenced by American cancel culture/wokism.

Just including _the people in this house,_ you couldn't make an accurate statement about the open-minded-ness of Americans.
Let alone try to do it with all 330 million of us.
And I said half a billion because you were comparing Russia to the USA, and add the population of the two countries, and you're at just about half a billion.
Only and closed minded idiot would make a blanket statement about half a billion people. And actually, now you've made a blanket statement about nearly 2 billion people. Holy sh....

Or "cancel culture"? meaning some people post on Twitter how they didn't like the Netflix special of some millionaire comedian, and being annoyed because there's a gay couple on TV.... Great video and topic Eli. The lady that answered with differences in cultural background and consequently perceptions that might ultimately lead to differences in opinions, in my opinion, gave the best answer. You may like someone from another country on the feeling/emotional level, but it does not necessarily mean that it will automatically translate into mutual understanding and cooperation on the practical day-to-day level. One thing I must say: Russian women are beautiful, very charming, just like Eli herself.

Completely disagree with the guy at 12:37 about eliminating nationalism. It’s wonderful seeing citizens taking great pride in their cultures, traditions, cuisines, values, languages, and so on of their nation. Nationalism promotes diversity, and when traveling, it’s fantastic to witness and experience the many different unique and beautiful ways of life of a nation. Don’t know what barriers he’s talking about that cause racism, but it seems like a made up thing to promote a sadistic agenda. Because here in the States, math has been labeled racist. Yes, 1 + 1 = racism in the US according to some deranged anti-barrier individuals. In Wisconsin, a 2 billion year old rock was removed from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, because…it promoted racism. Rocks are now racist in the US. We also have over 90 different stupid genders, and some genders, like gender fluid, change constantly depending upon the time of day. On a Time magazine cover, there’s a male who’s breastfeeding a baby! It’s a horror movie clown world over here in the States. The US is currently experiencing anti-nationalism and because of that, it’s turning into a massive sewer pit…that’s on fire. Save yourself Russia, and don’t let what’s happening over here, happen to you.

I proposed and she accepted and that was 20 years ago and two sons also, Alexander and Constantine. I was never so happy in my life. She passed away from cancer in August 2020. We buried her on our 20th wedding anniversary. The exact day. Getting back in saddle and have met a wonderful Russian girl and we're going to get married.
