    Social media has ruined our confidence in confrontation and therefore ruined romance

    • @edithflood631
      @edithflood631 2 месяца назад +5

      Okay there are two types of pickup: the banal type with conquest as the goal, and the rarer type where the guy uses pickup skills to search for people of integrity like him. The guy looking on Tinder has developed none of the skills and self-knowledge that the PUA with integrity has achieved. He is less able, and that translates as less able to maintain that relationship long-term when he finds the one. The old-fashioned McFly approach in the diner is superior in all aspects.

    • @TheHennes36
      @TheHennes36 2 месяца назад +6

      Amen! And leading a successful relationship is all about confrontation. You have to confront your partner with who you really are and what makes you you - this will always lead to some sort of conflict. But it's normal - you need it!

      Materialism ruined both romance and social life. The problem with social networks is that so many kids and teenagers are exposed to wide audience. And both kids and teenagers are stupid. They should play and have fun, but they are talking about complex stuff where they don't have nor experience nor maturity and know shit about it. And that is cringe and annoying. But that is it for socials. Real problem is heavy materialism.

    This is a good reminder to young men to not forget what normal actually is/ was. If you’ve never done this in real Life, you ought to. It’s good for your self- confidence- EVEN if you get rejected/ blown off. Hopefully most girls/woman are still nice about it. At any rate, taking chances and being direct is good for you.
    Fortune favors the bold, as they used to say. If you feel good about yourself , a bit of rejection isn’t going to hurt you… and you won’t feel good about yourself if you continually let opportunity pass you by.

You’re already picturing her rejecting you in your head and feeling the pain of that. So really you have very little to lose. Better to be rejected IRL a lot because you have greater than zero chances, believe me.

    I haven’t seen people who defend the other side, so here are the reasons why online dating is good🎉: It is more comfortable to start a conversation online with a stranger than in real life(for me especially, I can’t even say hello to people, let alone those of the opposite gender😅 so going on a first date, already checking that the person is interested in communicating with me greatly relieves stress).
    You get to know people better before you meet them.
    You have better control over how to set things through. Considering there are no social obligations and you are not meeting the person in real life yet, it eases things out for both the participants.

      Plus, it's not just about the gym. If you see that person you've seen at your gym, say, at the grocery store...that's a way to start a conversation. It happens.

    People talk about this but a more significant loss is the role your social circle would do in vetting out potential matches. Back in the day people had wide social circles and they would play an active role in choosing / helping find partners. Parents, siblings, best friends, and long term coworkers would actively match-make people.
    Dating near-strangers and trying to escalate that to a lifelong relationship is where a lot of the strife comes from. It's much more crucial to keep a large social network and eventually you find romantic interests within that. It's how I met my wife. We were both single teenagers and our mutual friends figured we'd be a good pairing - but we had just never hung out before. So they pushed us together.

      That’s not the point he’s making. He’s pointing out a change in the cultural perception of getting up and asking a girl out. There’s a significant group of women, and even men, who would say you should never approach a woman in a public place like that, or when she’s with her friend because women are tired of being asked out by guys when they don’t want guys to do it. The exception would be that attractive guys can get away with it.
      Not all women think like that, but it’s not like a guy can sit there and determine whether or not she does think that way, and if so, whether he meets the arbitrary level of attractiveness not to be considered a creep, or whether or not she is in the mood for being asked out. I’m old enough to remember what it was like before, but young enough to know what dating is like now. Getting shot down was never fun, and I have resounding failures and successes that taught me so much. But it never resulted in the kind of villainization and contempt that it does now. A lot of young men do not feel that it’s worth risking, which is sad.

      Its propaganda removing women from agency and blaming a male model for saying nah to decent women. Unrealistic garbage that fails utterly to address a single real world problem or provide any workable solution whatsoever. Youre an idiot if you thought this was the least bit productive and not a wasted opportunity to show a healthy modern initiation as an alternative to negging ab "the problem". Stupid people see only problems and fail to see solutions. Stupid people misdiagnose problems in haste and target symptoms which allows the problems to continue and get worse. Data from dating apps proves that women are doing exactly the thing this video tries to blame men for doing and most men are not. Its serving an agenda and trying to push men to go sit alone at businesses and pay for food while they supposedly wait for princess Emma to slide off a rainbow and float into their life like the unicorn they're saying exists. This isn't 1950 and its disingenuous to suggest the problem is that men aren't doing what old school guy here used to be able to do or that they're the ones wasting away in the dark on dating apps. If guys aren't gay and are genuinely looking for a serious relationship with a girl they're not waiting for Disney movie magic they're using their legs and going to where women are and getting harassed and publicly humiliated taking the L and trying again somewhere else. Thats a real problem we could talk about but it doesn't serve the agenda.

      Nothing about this video demonstrated a real problem except that ppl don't have money to sit alone in diners waiting for unicorns in the form of potential mates lmao. And it didn't even go there the focus was literally "men are the source of the problem bc they're using dating apps and swiping away girls at a glance, do better men" which is horrendously out of touch with the real world. Dating apps prove that women are the ones swiping away men en masse based on appearances alone so this could've literally just shown a girl doing this instead of a guy and it would've been more accurate and informative. Alternatively it could've shown a more modern interaction and what a good vs bad approach looks like, instead of insinuating that guys just don't ask girls out or for numbers anymore, which is false. Whoever made this is losing their sh* over a small percentage of dudes online saying they give up on trying with women because of the social state of the world, and they're trying to combat this imagined disease by ignoring everything those men say and just further trying to shame them for trying, literally calling that "the problem". Its the dumbest thing I've seen this decade. You just treat symptoms then you enable the real problem to fester and grow. Stop removing women from agency cuz that's all this does and thats actually closer to the source of modern problems.

    On one side, I want to say that talking to strangers (or coworkers, or acquaintance) in person nowadays can quickly turn into complaint about harassment, unless you have the ability to read their freaking mind to know if that is what they want or not.
    That being said, these events are often blown out of proportion on social media to generate clicks, giving a false impression of how often they happen, reinforcing the global sentiment of resentment both gender are encouraged to have for each other.
    And as such, it is good to remind people that confidence and bravery are very attractive qualities, and people will often be flattered, if you go talk to them respectfully and nicely.
    However, it is also true that it can cause problems, especially in your work environment.
    (I was personally considered as potentially problematic at work, because I made a friend who liked the same old Mangas/animes I did, was studying Japanese like me, and basically had a few common interests , and that friend was *gasp * a girl, prompting people to imagine who knows what on why we'd sometimes engage in short conversation during a break, and to spread rumors which escalated... Which I could avoided by being as asocial with her as with everyone else. So yeah, there's that.)
    The only thing I can add is, aimé for balance. If something look extreme to you, avoid it. If it seem reasonable to a sane individual, do it. Don't overthink it, and please, please, stop listening to click baiting hatred spreading articles and posts, talk to real people, they don't bite. Much.

    The real problem with dating apps is that they promote an attitude to life that fails to recognize that human nature is fickle. Fate is changeable, there are setbacks, people can discover new sides of themselves - a relationship must withstand all this. However, the consumer aspect of social media - likes on Facebook and other apps - rearranges the human mind in such a way that we can only think in terms of 'like' and 'dislike'. This makes it impossible to develop the personality structure necessary to sustain a long-term relationship.

    We have had case studies that showed us this phenomenon fully in shortened time frame, yet rarely anyone studied it or took it seriously - World of Warcraft being the prime example. What started 20 years ago as a heavily social experience that brought people together, created new friends, bonds with strangers just trying to help each other and large groups of people who were planning activities in the game together - was over time changed by adding more and more ways to 1. Connect to others easily 2. Have more options for solo activities ... This is in essence exactly the changes that happened in modern world. The resulting World of Warcraft now is an experience, where there are people everywhere, you actually meet many more of them on the surface... but they never talk, they never ackowledge each others existence, they just "are" next to each other in their own little worlds, and then move on... To even say "hi" to people, is weird, and ignored 99% of the time, while 20 years ago, it was the opposite.
    We know this happens, it has played out in the game at 10x speed compared to real life... so... yeah, its only going to get worse.
