- If you've traveled through LAX, then you've likely heard of the new ride-sharing pick-up process called LAXit. This is a new process for both Uber and Lyft, and is likely to come to an airport (and venue) near you!

Have you used the new LAXit ride-sharing process? Have you seen it being used anywhere else? Let me know! 😉
How do you get the code to give to the driver?
The most efficient way of Uber or Lyft I have ever experienced was in Seattle where they had 3 floors of a parking structure dedicated to it. The driver would park in a spot and pin which spot and on what floor was on. It was a quick in and out.
That sounds like a good system. I'll have to check it out the next time I'm in Seattle. 😊
How do you get the code to give to the driver?
How do you get the number/pin to tell the driver? That wasnt explained in video.
It's been a while since I've done it, but I remember it popping up automatically on my screen when I requested the ride from the location. Basically, the app knows that you're at LAX, so it knows to give you a code that matches you to the driver.
Great info on LAX Uber and Lyft. 👍🏽
Thanks! 😊
Thank you for this helpful video! I did have a question about the Uber pin code. Does the pin code automatically pop up when you open the Uber app at LAX? Or do you request a ride at LAX and the pin code shows up?
if you don't want to fall in line, and go to LAX-it, just ride the free G shuttle bus and take an uber/lyft at LAX/aviation station. it's actually 10$ cheaper and faster.
Great tip. I need to try it the next time I'm flying through LAX. 👍
@@TripAstute i was there last saturday and left LAX in 5 minutes without going to LAX-it. It's actually more convenient since all the cars and taxis are in LAX-it ,so there's no traffic going to the green line. people just like to complain about stuff when there are more alternatives and ways to choose from. it also bothered me when i heard about LAX-it a month ago, so i made my research and found an easy way to get out of LAX
When do I call Uber? How long does the pin last?
When I did it, I believe you could call it at any time. Calling it earlier doesn't necessarily help since you are still subject to the physical line. But I haven't traveled since COVID, so things may be different right now.
@@TripAstute I have heard proper say there is bad signal at the LAX-it. Could I call the Uber as early as in the terminal? Will the pin last until I get to the Uber line?
Thank you! Out of all the videos regarding the new Uber/Lyft Pick-up at LAX, I found yours to be the most helpful.
Thanks! I'm glad to hear that the video was helpful. 😊
Once the APM (Automated People Mover) goes into service, then LAXit will go away for good. People mover will also replace the C (green) line shuttle as well.
I heard that the LAXit lot is going to eventually be used for Concourse 0 but that wont start until the people mover is in service.
Look forward to seeing that upgrade at LAX. It's been a long time coming. 😊
I believe San Diego international airport also uses the PIN system for Uber and Lyft.
Good to know. Thanks for the info! 👍
It only takes me 20 minutes. How long does the line usually take?
In the past, it's taken me an hour to get an Uber or Lyft ride, especially from the international terminal. Though last time I got a pick-up using LAXit, it took only 20-30 minutes. 😎
great video! so helpful. Greetings from Mexico City.
Thank you! I appreciate the feedback. 😊
How does this effect travelers being pick up (non taxi) can people still drive in?
Great question. Private cars can still pick up from the arrivals level/loop. Also, I probably should have mentioned in the video that other premium Uber options (like Uber Black or Lux) can still pick your up at the terminal too. 😎
Uber is almost always more expensive than Lyft. Nowadays, the fare keeps on increasing and there are many drivers who can't drive (not sure how they passed their driving exam). If you are going to Vegas or San Francisco, just take bus and BART.
It's weird -- Uber seems to be consistently lower in price for me lately. And when I compare Uber rates with Fiona at the same time, her app always shows a higher price. I don't know how I got locked into some kind of promotional rate. 😄
@@TripAstute In San Francisco, Uber is usually higher than Lyft. And, what I don't like about Uber is the rate fluctuates constantly. Next time if it is high, close and reopen the app .
Do both of you have the Uber credit through Amex?
No, we don't have any Uber credit through Amex. I think it may be because I used to use Uber a lot for work when I was at my last firm. It must still think that I am a high volume user.
Hey folks, we have a $100 airline credit from our amex gold we need to use by the end of the year. We aren't tied to a single airline as we haven't chosen one yet. Any ideas on how we can use this??? :)
I’m just glad this doesn’t happen at JFK airport 😂
I wouldn't be surprised if they roll it out to more airports soon. 😉
@@TripAstute I hope not
This was so helpful, thank you 🙏🏻
Awesome! Glad the video was helpful. 😊
Very valuable info. Thank you!
Thanks! I'm glad the video was helpful. 😊
This has NOT helped the traffic! Ironically because of all of this - there is more traffic getting into the airport than ever before. Instead of arriving 3 hours before my flight departure (international flights) - I will be leaving 4 hours because no kidding - it can take me 45 minutes getting to my terminal...so screw LAXit
And still it takes my brother about an hour for an Uber at the lot... I'm looking into options of hiring someone to pick me up at the terminal as it's not worth walking to the LAXit lot... my time does matter...
I do live within 10 minutes of the airport so the Flyaway would only make my Uber a lot more expensive. I'm going to hotel shuttle it and then pick up my Uber there.
Interesting ... I felt like the traffic was better when we passed through during Thanksgiving week, but it probably fluctuates a lot during the time of the day. Though I have to admit that I much prefer to fly out of Burbank whenever possible! 😊
New Orleans just started this with the opening of the new airport.
Good to know! Thanks for the heads up, Jorge. 👍
Was just there this week and used this with Lyft, couldn't have been easier.
I watched the video a few times to make sure I didn’t miss the info I was looking for but it simply wasn’t there. I’ve never been picked up before. What I really wanted to know is how to get to terminal 1 if you are coming from a terminal far away? What should I do and what should I expect? Are there shuttles to terminal 1. Do I then get picked up by a different shuttle? If so, why can’t these shuttles pick us up from every terminal. Anyone know?
Sorry if I didn’t explain it well. The LAXit shuttles stop at every terminal, so you just need to follow the signs to the pick up area in front of the terminal that you exit.
Trip Astute Thank you! I appreciate your response and info! And a 👍 cause you were so nice to respond.
Great Info.
