In a democracy, a right wing party doesn’t “come to power”. It is actively elected by those entitled to vote under the constitution. Perhaps it is therefore time to drop the ridiculous semantics and the pointless fear mongering, and ask yourselves/ourselves very calmly and very seriously what it is that has gone so horribly wrong in France that a party which not long ago was on the fringe of French politics is now poised to win this parliamentary election? If this isn’t a wake up call, I don’t know what is.

What's gone wrong? It's the problem with immigration. It is used to inflame people who are struggling to make ends meet: on one hand, the right wing declares that all these immigrants aren't working, all on the dole, and working French people are paying to support them; but in the very next breath the Right is claiming that all these immigrants are stealing all the good jobs (in other words, they ARE working!) from French workers. Actually, neither claim is accurate. But scaremongering works every time, and people who are afraid swallow the bait and the hook that comes with it.
France has the right to elect someone who cares about their country.

Moreover, as weird as it may sound, the RN is not so much conservative as it claims to be: it uses religion as a forefront, but, under the covers, it's weirdly enough kind of a blend between neopaganism and homosexuality. Non woke homosexuals go RN in France for obvious reasons w/r islam, and the neopagan trend is exemplified by the provocative gun suicide of Dominique Venner in Notre-Dame cathedral, which is there considered as much as a wake up call against immigration as it is a rejection of the turn-the-other-cheek mentality of christianity. Hello from Australia. Will Macron retire to New Caledonia or its capital city of Noumea? I'm in the Australian media and it only takes an hour to fly to New Caledonia from here, but the place is now such a mess, it isn't safe to travel there and most of the (very few) airlines that used to fly there have stopped. Hopefully rioters will one day understand that destroying their own towns and cities only harms themselves. Then there's the destruction of their tourism industry, which New Caledonia is heavily reliant on. Admittedly Macron did visit New Caledonia, but he was there for only a day and his visit achieved nothing.

Macron is not far-left. The use of the term far-right is designed to stigmatize it and cause voters to fear it. The equivalent term on the left isn't used because folks don't fear it, so folks on the left try to form coalitions with anyone on the left of themselves, and are unlikely to be shunned with working with them. The communists didn't occupy France. The Holodomo didn't happen in France. The Culture Revolution happened in China.

People have been warning for years that if you keep eroding away the standard of living, people will swing this way, and here we are.
The young are giving up on having children just so they can afford to have a life worth living, and our governments think no worries, we wont fix the underlining problem, we will just immigrate a workforce. We need to make it affordable to have families again. I expect many western nations are going to swing to the right in the coming years.
