Jim Gordon's got to be my favorite comic book character of all time. He's got a strong moral code, but he's still flawed and isn't perfect. I like how he's a fairly important and recognizable character in the DC universe, and yet is a very normal human being with no special powers or gadgets. He's a normal guy just trying to make sense of a nonsensical universe filled with crazy billionaires in silly outfits and stupid gods. But that Super Heavy storyline sounds kinda stupid. "Let's take one of the only normal and relatable characters in this universe all ready jam-packed with bizarre and unrelatable meatheads, and stick him in power armor to make him a bizarre, slightly more relatable than-average meathead to replace this meathead we just killed off. Oh, and lets just revive the first meathead later to render his sacrifice completely pointless. Again." We have more than enough meatheads to keep us happy, DC, please keep the normal people normal.
James Gordon is easily my favorite Batman ally besides Dick Grayson. I always loved the friendship and brotherly bond between Batman and Gordon. One of the coolest aspect of this is unlike so many other law enforcement Gordon doesn’t actually want to know who is under the mask. He understands Batman in a way no one else does.
Spoiler Warning for gotham series one and two: Barbara turns kinda crazy, but i wanted to know if that is also a story in the comics or if it is a different idea from the producers. Thanks :)
Jim is the best comic book character ever. He's the answer of what it means to be a hero in the real world. Without costumes and crazy powers. Just a man who wants to do the right thing and still, it's not perfect. Has his flaws and mistakes. An awesome character. PS: he have the coolest coat too kkk
So happy, been waiting a week for a new video. This has rapidly become my favorite channel after about only two weeks. Also, I don't know if you've done a history of Lex Luther.
Awesome video Arris, I just saw the new DC Animated Batman: Gothom by Gaslight and the Jim Gordon from that was insane. Hadn't read the comic so it was a huge turn of events
Since Batgirl was first created for the TV series, she was called his niece there. The comics had her as daughter. So, post-crisis, the "adopted niece" was a way to reconcile these continuities.
VariantComics- Can you if you have not already do a video for comic book noobs, where to start most importantly. Maybe fit into a new series on essential reads for new comers. I'm 30 F and have only just discovered my love for them. I have picked a few up in the past week but I don't know where to begin with some other stories/characters. Thanks very much and I have loved the show for a long time now.
I would not say all of them but maybe a lot of them, enough to make a series ;) I like the Flash a lot myself, I have everything on digital but not actually knowing where to start. I have N52 issue 1 of the Flash, I think thats the first one I bought. After learning that the comic book world resets every now and then it is kind of annoying. I have looked only of other characters on where to start and it vary's what people are saying.
Well then a mixture of Marvel and DC, I personally would recommend for DC the whole run of Scott Synder and Greg Capullo for Batman, Geoff Johns Justice League and Superman Doomed but first read Flashpoint. And for Marvel All New All Different Avengers, All New X-Men and Howard the Duck but first read Secret Wars. Then depending which characters you like most start reading there solo title.
Hey aris dude you have great videos and i simply wanted to give you a pat on the back I've been with you for all of your videos starting from number one great job bro
It is worth mentioning that although he has no super powers, his detective prowess is such that he can easily deduce the identity of Batman, he just simply chooses not to due to plausible deniability. This was stated by Batman himself....
Hey +Variant Comics. I'm new to reading comics but I love what Snyder and Capullo are doing so I really want to get into them. My problem is I have NO idea how to tell different arcs apart. Are Batman, The Dark Knight, Detective Comics, etc. all part of the same Batman universe or are they all their own stories with shared characters?
good video but why don't you make videos about obscure characters like Sentry... there are many. or the newly announced Everett Ross on Captain America because again, good video, but who doesn't know Jim Gordon?
For someone who has never really explicitly read the comics, but is well up to speed on the lore and story, would you guys recommend Superheavy as a good place to start reading?
Can you give us a video of Shazam? I'm confused on how powerful he is now due to the fact that he's now fueled by the living lightning and not the Gods. At least they don't mention anything about the Gods. Thanks! Love your videos!
A Harvey Bullock ep? Yes please!!
I genuinely love the Jim Gordon Batman. He's such an interesting new angle for such a classic character.
Jim Gordon doesn't get enough love. Thanks for the history, Arris!

The Killing joke is one of the stories that made Jim Gordon one of my favorite characters in DC, man's a badass.

One suggestion, you should make a History of The Juggernaut!
So happy, been waiting a week for a new video. This has rapidly become my favorite channel after about only two weeks. Also, I don't know if you've done a history of Lex Luther.
Do the history of the Skrulls or Ghost Rider!!
Ghost rider!
The title picture looks like Leon Kennedy for RE4 with Jim Gordon’s face
thanks for this episode
I like the portrayal of Gordon in Dark Knight Returns. A badass even in his old age (70s?)
Batman Earth one Harvey Bullock has the best origin story
I agree.
Hey Arris, here's an idea. How about top 10 characters that have killed Deadpool? Or more depending on who's all killed him
Awesome history on Jim Gordon, Variant.
Awesome video Arris, I just saw the new DC Animated Batman: Gothom by Gaslight and the Jim Gordon from that was insane. Hadn't read the comic so it was a huge turn of events

Hey Variant pls pls make a VS battle between Firestorm and Human Torch pls I've been waiting for this for such a long time
+Daniel DaSIlva would be cool but firestorm would murder torch
+Steven Terry I just chose it because they are super alike and they are from two different universes and I want to know more details about them
Wow, Gordon has quite the history. I only know of him from a few titles, but completely missed NML and a bunch of others.

He has already done a video about that
I would not say all of them but maybe a lot of them, enough to make a series ;)

He's does great job of doing history
Barbara: "How long have you known!?"

I'm gonna have to be late to class to finish this video. worth it.
Can you do a history of hunter zoloman
I'm from malaysia. We don't have any way to read marvel or dc comics. So i thank you for doing this kind of thing. And you have my respect.

+Muhammad Izzat Sapuan wow how about buy it in Internet

Hey aris dude you have great videos and i simply wanted to give you a pat on the back I've been with you for all of your videos starting from number one great job bro
Ok got it thank u! Keep up the good work!
Love this!
Do a " History Of The Beyonder. " Please, we need this.
The Commissioner is here, folks!!!!
Hi is it possible to state some viewing recommendations in addition to the reading recommendations?
This may just be me but the New 52 felt like Geoff Johns and Scott Snyder 52 issue run on JL and Batman and everything else was just there.
It is worth mentioning that although he has no super powers, his detective prowess is such that he can easily deduce the identity of Batman, he just simply chooses not to due to plausible deniability. This was stated by Batman himself....
The Netflix show Gotham is probably my favorite Batman/Jim Gordon origin
Do a History of black bolt
Hey +Variant Comics. I'm new to reading comics but I love what Snyder and Capullo are doing so I really want to get into them. My problem is I have NO idea how to tell different arcs apart. Are Batman, The Dark Knight, Detective Comics, etc. all part of the same Batman universe or are they all their own stories with shared characters?
That dog caught me off guard
I wish you mentioned him in the TV 📺 series.
I love bulluk (I probably misspelled that) in the animated series 👌🏻
aris, you may have answered this long ago but where do you get all your comic t shirts?
Hey Arris, are there any alternate versions of Killer Croc or Larfleeze?
excellent video!
Sooo close to a million subs....... So close
good video but why don't you make videos about obscure characters like Sentry... there are many. or the newly announced Everett Ross on Captain America because again, good video, but who doesn't know Jim Gordon?
Forget comic book heroes!!!!!!
Arris is the greatest heroes
