Ra's Al Ghul is Batmans General Zod. Think about it. Older male that starts off as more of a mentor to the hero, but conflicting ideologies causes them to shift ways and become fierce rivals.

And if Joker ever stopped his fixation with Bruce, he could go on to cripple the rest of the super heroes on the planet. Hell he’s literally turned the Justice League against Batman in the New 52. I just think Joker is slightly worse than Ra’s. Because Ra’s has morals and ethics, and a clear goal, with the Jokee he’s a whirlwind of insanity that can change his opinions and mood at any time. Genetics.
At the end of the day, Ra's can have more years of training, even have chemically enhanced strength... But Bruce Wayne was cloned by Waller (Terry) for a reason in the Batman Beyond timeline. He has the perfect synergy of mind and body and while the intellect cannot be cloned, the mind-body connection is a physical trait. Honed to perfection by a lifetime of training and driven past it's normal limitations by an income table will, this makes him not just a good fighter but a tactical one. While Ra's is brilliant in deduction and capable as a fighter, there are some elements that even lifetimes of training can never teach. You either have it, or you don't. Look at the real world. Most "smart" people can't fight. This is because they tend to overthink and even the slightest moment can create the hesitation a great fighter can exploit. This is also why the few who could match Bruce in martial skill, could never come close to comparing to him in intellect.

@@sebastiansilverfox6912 I am not disagreeing with everything you say, but the part "most smart people can't fight" is just a common basic stereotype of nerds vs jocks. The best athletes and fighters in the world are usually also extremely intelligent and capable of anything. Vice Versa, just because Bill Gates or Isaac Newton didn't pursue a life of martial arts doesnt mean they wouldnt be good at it. Life isn't fair, some people really are born with superior genetics and its not some sort of equivalent exchange. Lebron James most likely would be a very successful scholar if he pursued something else.

@@duc2133 There's a reason I put smart in quotations. I agree that many of the best fighters are intelligent people. (This is because the drive to push oneself often bleeds through into more than mere physical endeavors) I was more referring to those who over think everything. They are generally VERY smart people but they rarely have the reflexes to win a fight against a highly skilled and fast opponent. To have someone who can be top tier in both areas is rare and that's where good genes comes in. It is the "slight edge" that makes the difference in a close fight. (Hope that clarified what I meant)

I totally loved this episode, and I have to agree that Ra's is totally my favorite anti-hero. The thing with his name (I know we've had this conversation before) hahaha.
As the episode mentioned, he's of Arabic / Middle-Eastern background, as a native Arabic speaker, I can say there is no "Rayesh" in the Language. "Ras" means head, and "Al-Goul" means demon, there for "Ras Al-Goul" means "Head of The Demon" in Arabic.
Also through out the comic books, Talia is often referred to as "Talia Head"..which confirms that his name is "Ras" not "Rayesh". Because in Middle-Eastern culture, your name is followed by your father's first name. No disrespect to the writer of the Batman Beyond episode, but one scene with "poetic license" can't defeat the actual evidence.
    Just my humble opinion :)
Thank you for a lovely episode, looking froward to next week.

    hold up, Batman was raped?
Was that just a bit out of context or did he just not mind?
I mean if Batman 'had his way' with Talia one night, would she have just been like, "Oh you got me pregnant mate! Well, that's alright, I really don't mind."
    I'm so confused..

It seems very weird to me that he’s Shown as a Arab man but yet has a lot of Asian influence it would make more sense if him and Talia where Afghan or Iranian that where the Asian and the Middle Eastern aspects of his character wouldn’t look like he’s culturally appropriating anything and it would also make more sense and be accurate but maybe that’s just me

  • @DrDemonq8

I'm guessing the name is meant to be derived from Arabic language that means head of the demon right?, well that would make ra's alghoul the corrects pronunciation, Reish alghoul simply trabslaits to feathers of the demon.... So yeah.. Ra's alghoul is the correct one
