Cute little hands close to mommy!!!! The scene reminds me when my daughter was little and she remained close to me when I was studying. I let her scribble on the edges of my notebook. I still keep those pages!! Later on, while she was going to be in second grade, we moved to USA. I let her "help" me writing my notes, this time on the computer, while she was on my lap. Beside being close and having a good time together, I was reinforcing the writing and reading in our native language while we were in USA learning English. Today she is fully bilingual, not only speaking both languages, but reading and writing them as well.
I've been sewing since i was 9y/o. So some 57 yrs. Your explanation is very easy, clear & precisely said. Most of these tutorials are too lengthy (gabby) & too Ling to get into the assembly. Thank you!
I did it! I followed your directions and I made a dish carrier! I am so excited! No, it wasn’t perfect, but it is definitely functional! Thank you so much! I did it tonight in just 3 hours. I am a real novice, and I felt empowered!
12 years later and I just watched this and made one to take to a party that is TONIGHT! Thank you so much for your easy to follow tutorials! Love this and it is so cute!
Perfect instructions. Quick and precise and easy to follow. Something I’ve been wanting to make and you made it easy. I love the simple design and can’t wait to try it out this weekend to bring a dessert for a movie night at my daughter’s. Thank you so much. And the little helping hands are adorable!
Glad you enjoy my tutorials. My son is my little helper and I gotta do what work I can with the kids around. They don't bother me one bit and I love involving them in what I'm doing. Awww. Thanks for your kind words. Just going to keep doing what I do until that great opportunity presents itself. :o)
I hope you know what a fantastic instructor you are! Not everyone can teach. You are clear and concise with a clear definition of what we're doing and why we're doing it. Another great video!
Gina (61) from Melbourne Australia here. I was hopeless at sewing at school. But I guess one is never too old to learn and try new things. I can’t believe I actually made a beautiful casserole carrier. Followed your clear precise instructions and pronto it was made. Fabulous. Will be making more for Christmas gifts for my family. Thanks again Vanessa. You are a beautiful young woman who has been blessed with gifted hands and brain. You go girl
My granddaughter saw one like this somewhere and wanted me to make one. I am so glad I found you as I am not good without a pattern or tutorial. So thank you. Your instructions were clear and that is so helpful for old ladies. 😊
Mighty darn clever! Whoever designed this thing is a marvelous engineer. I haven't sewn for decades, so I no longer have the cutting mat and the rotary cutter, the measuring tools, etc., but I still was able to put it together in just one afternoon; it looks splendid, and it will be my gift to my daughter at her birthday brunch tomorrow. She and her little family do potluck dinners with friends once a month, and I think she's going to like having a carrier to tote her contribution to each event. BTW … I made your oven mitts and gift-card pockets for Christmas this year; they turned out very nicely and were well received. I thought my homemade gifts were a thing of the past, but it looks as if I'll be sewing from now til next Christmas … with your help!
Thank you so much for the directions on making the beautiful casserole carrier. You are great at CLEARLY EXPLAINING and DEMONSTRATING the process. LOVED the helping hands!
I made this carrier as a Christmas gift for my neighbor. I put a pie plate inside and she loved it. It was made out of Christmas fabric. I am getting ready to make another out of southern cruisine fabric. Thanks for this wonderful tutorial.
I found a pair of quilted shams that I liked at the local thrift store. Made those into casserole carriers following your video. Thank you for explaining how to do this. Now I can attend a function and not have to burn my hands on my hot dishes!
Thank you for the detailed explaination. I am an experiance sewer and have a diffiult time explaining sewing proceedures to others. You make it easy to understand with the resoning behind each step. Thanks again. Have a blessed day
my mom is going to love this!! she loves to cook and is always takin cassorols to church !! i was just thinkin of how i could help her make it a lil easier!! thanks vanessa your awesome!! cant wait for my kids to take a nap so i can get started!!
I just watched this without sound (it's not working for whatever reason!) and it's so easy to understand. Thank you so much. This will be my Christmas gifts for my friends this year!
Your tutorials are simply amazing. I am going to make this for sure. No more burning my hands or disturbing the top of a pie with a hand towel! Thanks so much for sharing!
Just wanted to say I love making everything you make, your site is the best tutorial I have ever seen so thank you keep up the amazing job your doing. Also I love watching this video as I think it's adorable that your child is driving his train across your work while your talking 😆
I made four of these earlier this year, two for me and one for each of my daughters. We were going out for Thanksgiving today and I used both of mine. My other side dish was wrapped in a towel. I thought "I should make another". Obvious idea but this pattern and instructions are so easy and simple, that I can probably get three of them done tomorrow morning, without stress! Great lesson, very clear instructions and the carrier is so nice to use for pot lucks. I pulled out all my smaller pieces of Christmas fabric, and decided to make a few more, when I give away a plate of cookies, it would be nice to "wrap" them in one of these.
Nice job. Your instructions are easy to follow. The handle loops are really clever. I never imagined a handle that interlaced like this one does. It’s so simple and brilliant at the same time. Thank you for making this tutorial. It is top notch. (I loved to see your helper and his Thomas the tank engine. My kids are all grown now. I sure miss the days they were all at home and followed me everywhere. It made me feel good to know that my presence made them feel safe and loved.)
Hi Vanessa, I love this pattern !!!!, I have made a lot of these for both myself and friends, this is the best pattern ever!!! it carries both round, square and rectangular dishes and I have made it a bit bigger to accommodate 2 dishes higher. I love the fact it hangs on your arm and you can still carry your bag etc. Made mine 25"x25" with pattern cotton drill ( in darker colours) on the inside to hide spills. Cheers...Janeen
Thank you!!! This IS my next project. I will post a picture as soon as I am done. Your videos are easy to follow. thank you for taking the time to put them out for us to learn and enjoy.
Hi Vanessa. I was so taken with your tutorial that I sat right down and made one! Your instructions were so simple and clear that I had no trouble at all! Many thanks.
Made one of these with a longer carrying strap to take my iron to sewing group. with the longer strap, the "carrier" becomes an awesome pressing mat. Thank you so much for the pattern.
awesome project....i am sewing up my stash and using up bits and pieces of leftover batting. Guess what I will be making all of my friends for next Christmas!!! Your tutorials are wonderful. thanks
@Gobi512 Sorry you found the video too fast. I try to keep my videos as short as I can without losing the quality of the content. One great thing about video is that it can be paused and replayed as often as you want.
Absolutely cleaver. Wonderful. You always do a fantastic job on all of your projects. I look forward to watching them and then doing them you are a great instructor too. So you see how much you give us. Thank you!
I just got my first sewing machine for Christmas and have been trying to do research online to help me get started. I just came across all of your videos on here and cannot be more excited!! You make it look so easy and explain it so well! Can't wait to get started and make my first project!
I like how clear your directions are, but given quickly. I can slow it down it I need to, but it zips along quickly when I don't. Now I'm off to make a casserole carrier!
love the idea and you make all your videos so easy to follow. Think I'll have to get my mums sewing machine back around here so I can get making some of these things - thanks to you I've got loads on my to do list!!!
The best video tutorials ever , i just love to watch them , i never failed doing a thing following your instructions .And as you can imagine i am not native in english lol Best regards from Romania , Europe xx Ive learned how to sew folow your channel , i had zero knowledge before that . Thank you !
@justdawne Thanks for your kind words!! I'm so glad you appreciate the hard work I put into each and every tutorial. Glad to see you are putting them to good use. :o)
someone shared your tutorial on Quilter Friends on FB - i enjoyed it a lot - and think you have such a sweet way of teaching - and I love your little boy's hands and his truck in the tutorial ;-) thank you.
Vanessa I thank you so very much for this excellent video. I make 2 or 3 of these at a time and give them as hostess gifts In our groups of friends and social clubs. Needless to say we are invited out for potluck meals often.
Few years behind but I made this. It's great. Took me a little longer because of the quilting I did but I'm sure my second will go together much much faster. Your video is super. Update: when I washed these the batting seemed to go a little crazy on me and bunchy. I think to make these again I would quilt through all four layers at once and bond the edges. I think that would work better for washing. Don't get me wrong I love the video and the idea. I will be using the ones I've made a good bit.
@sshew52 That's one of the great things about video- pause, rewind, forward, etc. My videos take several days to create and unfortunately, I just don't have the time to create the print versions of each one as well. Sorry.
This is just fantastic! I cannot wait to get started on Christmas gifts for next year. I think your videos are fabulous. I can't seem to tell enough people about your site! Thanks so much for taking time to post these videos for us to enjoy!!
Outstanding video tutorial! Everything was clearly shown and explained, and (to second justdawne) the sound and lighting were excellent, too. Last but not least, the project was cool! I'm subscribing!
I did this! I used bias binding for the straps. I also made it a little shorter on one side. I think I will need 26x26 next time but I can still use the one I made for pie or quiche. Nice project!
Hola! I just found you and me has dejado boba!!! You rock my world! I want to make everything you have done that I have seen thus far! This particular one I want to make for a Christmas swap with my friends. Thank you. Your style and taste is very good! I loved the little one helping you! I have big ones so my little kitty is the one that helps! Keep up the great videos! Hasta la proximal vez!!
Great video. I like the idea of quilting before. I think I’m going to make 2: one with d-rings and one with fabric loops. Great gift idea also. Thank you. Hmm. Love how your little assistant’s props match the fabric. Teehee
That was instructive and very nice! When you dropped it at the end of the video,it looked like something was inside it and for a moment,my heart skipped a beat, thinking whatever was inside it broke!! What a fool I am 😂
@sahinkle44 I was able to but it doesn't look as closed up as the square or round ones. I would suggest starting off with pieces that are a little bigger than the 22" x 22". Maybe do a test one with 25" or 26" squared to start? Good luck!
this is the first tutorial of yours i have viewed. love it! i like that you filmed first and added your voice instructions over the video. it is a smooth presentation. i also like your speed -- as many tutorials are too slow and thus way too long. thank you!
I really like how you come straight to the point. You don't have this dialog that goes on and on and on. I really enjoyed you tutorial.

your little helper was making sure everything was laying flat. how sweet!
Loved those little hands sneaking in the corners! Warms a grandma's heart.
I reckon, as a Nana and great Grandmother I loved it!
I did it! I followed your directions and I made a dish carrier! I am so excited! No, it wasn’t perfect, but it is definitely functional! Thank you so much! I did it tonight in just 3 hours. I am a real novice, and I felt empowered!

You’re welcome!

I enlarged the pattern to accommodate our largest baking dish -- 13 by 8 inches. You are one of the best instructors I've found! Thank you!
What were the dimensions you cut, please?
@@suetrinkle2753hi, did you ever end up making one for a pan about the size of a 9x13? That’s what I’m looking to try and make one for.

Great tutorial...I've made two carriers so far and going to make more...thank you for sharing this with us...love it...
Love your style of teaching.

I just love all your tutorials. Your the best
Sounds like a plan! Have fun!
I think this would be best using a round casserole dish. I am going to make one out of quilted fabric, super simple.
What a wonderful project. Love your creativity.
Aw! That's awesome! Congrats on the new phone and for stopping by! :o)
That little hand makes me smile ; )
Thank you for sharing your tutorial. Perfect and now I'm off to make one. I see Christmas gifts in my sewing future :)

Great explanation. Glad you mentioned the dimensions are hidden just under the video. Thanks!
I love your channel and just got my first Android. My first App was yours. Thank You.
Love this, thank you for sharing. Will this work with a 13x9?
Fantastic . This really is a great video. thankyou for making it very easy to understand.
Vanessa that looks so cute! I have done some casserole carriers that are harder to do because they hold the long 9x13 size. Thumbs up!
great idea, that little hand was so sweet
