A good indication that an ice plug has formed is to spray the product directly onto the pipe either side of the jacket, if it frosts up on the pipe that's a sign that it's frozen
Very brave cutting the pipe with out having a push fit cap end in the other hand. Freeze kits are good but I enjoy snatching pipes puts the fun back into plumbing 😂😂😂
Thanks Alan. Not just for this but, well, you know what? Old TP from Wigan did a review/experiment on freezing kits a few years ago now. I've rarely had to use them but he found an alternative, cheaper product to use as a freezing gas. He wouldn't let on. I never figured out what it was, but If I had to make an educated guess, I reckon it might have been chewing gum remover.
No. Haven't been to a trade show for years. It's as easy to get updates from RUclipsrs when it comes to tool reveiws and stuff. I'm thinking of slowing down, or looking for a twilight years job. If the missus will let me. ;-) Gerrin' owd.
I always use an electric pipe freezer as your not time restricted and can deal with bigger pipe sizes, I know they are heavy, bulky and more expensive but I have better trust in them.
@@AllenHart999 Yes I own one, as if you hire one their nearly always a problem and expensive to hire, the one I have is the Rothenberger Rofrost 28, it costs about £800. great bit of kit.
This type of freezer is the best I’ve used, I had an electric one, far too heavy and impractical. This Polar type is so convenient and you don’t waste spray, it’s a very reliable kit. And waiting for the pipe to freeze is way faster that draining down................

Hi EITelBaby. It’s only temporary as all the pipes will be getting removed soon. I just needed it off to put boilers on the wall. Thanks for the feedback.
I don't really like this theory because I've showed up to fix too many pipes that have Frozen and burst open because they were frozen and so I think to a small extent this strategy works but it's not. All that great
Nice job
I'm doing it in Singapore. Ours pipe sige is biger
I use an electric pipe freezer because you are not time limited.I have the Armarge pipe freezer, cost £500. Excellent piece of kit.
Too much for me. Thanks.
Great demonstration. Didn't know how to use it before
Thanks for watching.
@@AllenHart999 been watching for about 7 months now but never really commented. I didn't know comments help you out and help with the algorithm.

Amazing video again Allen great tips

I need to do a live one 😂
Very helpful video.
Glad you think so!
Why did you need to show the flow at the start, does the need calculated into the freeze time or something?
Can these work on plastic pipe?
very interesting video
Thank You
Great video - thank you!
Could this kit be used if the only pipe available to freeze is a flexy pipe to a boiler ?
Not really sure, tbh. Thanks.
Thanks Alan. Not just for this but, well, you know what?

@@loafersheffield That’s a shame. Would have been nice to meet you. Thanks.
Thanks for the tip, loafer.
Hi mate
I’ve always wondered
How come the pipe doesn’t split when freezing, as ice expands
the ice plug expands in the direction of the pipe relieving the pressure.
Hi Alex. That’s a really good question. I don’t know the answer but I am guessing because it has space to expand down the rest of the water. Thanks.
Yeah bursts happen when two frozen plugs expand into each other and when there's nowhere left to go they'll just push through the pipe.
Thank You@@simonmander4314
I've always wondered that too, thanks for the explanation William and Simon.
great video 👍
Thank You
hi what do you think of the artic machines that are availbel? tempted to buy one at £755.
I would not freeze right next to a joint. That looked like water dripping at the end?
I use a freezer instead but for do it yourself it is a sensible product, do not know if we have these in Sweden. Mvh Markus

What progress has come! :). And the Chinese froze the soil of both banks of the river to build a huge bridge across the great river.
The new man cave back in action. 👍
Hi Adam. I have much more space now, Hopefully, I will be able to do loads of videos to help. Thanks.
How many 15mm frezzes from the can?
I am not sure to be honest.
What if this was hot water? Any solution
Hi Allen. How many pipes can one bottle freeze?
Hi Wassem. That's a bit of a tricky question if i am honest. I believe the bottle said something like 4 but it depends on the pipes. Thanks.

Or maybe it could be when you freeze a copper pipe the ice expands the copper and makes it not fit very well
Thank You
Something I've never used .I take it your better using it on some sort of bend or offset rather than a stright bit of pipe
Another great video Allen
No it's for straight pipe really, i just wanted to cut the pipe back. Thanks.
Nice bit of kit but that dead leg would be too long to cap it off permanently, should only be as long as the diameter of the pipe.
