As a kid I shot just about everyday. As an adult I shoot a couple times a month at our fishing lease.
True but I think the make or break thing at the Olympic is the mental pressure, not only are you directly competing for a prize, you're representing your country and there are hundreds of people watching you shoot (several thousands if you count the cameras) and like Scott said, they shoot a lot so accuracy over time can vary greatly. I think that's what makes the difference between an Olympian shooter and one who isn't, it's not so much the precision but rather the mental fortitude. That's why I think the Olympic gear can make some difference because it acts like a bubble making you keep focus on the target.
