I own a YZ250 with the stock 25 mm offset triple clamps and recently got to ride an identical YZ250 with 22.5 mm offset and the difference was astounding.
It’s well worth it… however if you don’t wanna spend $700-$1200 on a triple clamp set up you can do this like me:
    - Buy a set of triple clamps from a ‘14, ‘15, ‘17, or 2018 YZ250F/450F, they go for about $105-$170 on eBay in good condition. Bonus points if you can find a set that already has the handlebar mounts on. (2016 was a bastard year where they went back to the 25 mm offset so stay away from those.)
    - Then get the upper clamp bored out by a motocross shop. This should cost about $60-100. The upper clamp size changed on the four strokes, they’re about 2 mm thinner in diameter than the YZ250 two strokes.
    - you have to keep the stem off of your YZ 250 2-stroke as the stems on the four stroke bikes are a little shorter and won’t work. The two stroke stem works with the four stroke triple clamps.
    - Mount on your bike and Bam, you just tremendously upgraded the handling of your YZ250 two stroke for around $200.
    Your welcome.

I'm going with the10-14 YZ450f trees @ 22.5 mm offset for 100.00 I just need to press out the stem and bore out the upper 2mm and it will bolt right up. If they work out as much as you say I will mill off some of the fat for a more one off look..

I was thinking about doing that to save money the lower triple clamp bolts right in I don't think you need too press out the stem I have one and I installed no problem, only thing is the upper clamp need to be bored out.

@roberturmosi-dirtbike-atv That is easy to do I have both a Lathe and Mill. Offset is 22.5mm so that should be fine... I'll let you know how it works out..

I’m doing the same thing as we speak. The 2014 YZ 450 F triple clamps just got delivered today.
I got to ride a YZ250 identical to mine that had this mod done and the difference was insane

The Urmosi mounts are the only mounts that let me use the precision steering stabilizer. Why the other mount companies haven't made an open mount setup is beyond me.

What does offset mean does it change the angle of the fork steeper

    • @roberturmosi-dirtbike-atv
      @roberturmosi-dirtbike-atv  9 месяцев назад

Yes it's changes the angle of the forks. in this case move the front wheel back closer to the engine 22mm. and that's makes a huge difference on the way the bike handle turns

Got them on and a quick run around the house. I have a Scotts on my bike so I had to mill out a slot for the Scotts mount so my first test was without it hooked up and I could feel the difference right away. I can see this being the best mod I've could have done I can see it helping me out in the woods with less fighting it into turns with stage 4 COPD I need all the help I can get..
I may have to try it on my WR250F as well..
If you use the yz450f bar mounts you just need to bore out the upper or you could get a set all done from me..

Lol that piece of aluminum is 1K. That is 10% of the cost of the whole damn bike. Let that sink in for a minute. By the time you're done building the "perfect" bike, you could've bought a second one. I probably suck and don't notice any shortcomings but that kind of money just doesn't make sense to me. 80% rider and 20% bike as they say! I'd rather spend that money on gas or cool trips with the bike to good riding areas. I enjoy some of your content and I understand you want to make money off of it. I just think sometimes we need to step back, and look at things objectively as a leisure rider.
