I still like the 3V Mustang. 05-09 is the closest retro look.
Retro for sure
Those are pretty awesome numbers for a stock NA 3v! Can't beat the sound those Detroit Rocker Cams! Well done Brenspeed!
THANKS
Not shabby, but they aren’t Detroit’s.. FORD RACING FBO here.
Love 3v screw the coyotes the 3v sound is so classic.
I love both but I dont hate on the 3V they are fun cars
This the exact n/a build I'm going for !! Perfect for a daily ripper
Yes fun for sure
Love me some 3V! I love the sound of mine
I do love the deep lope
Do the Detroit rocker cam shafts require a tune when installed?
Seems low. Same setup stock injectors but hot rod cams and got 350/325
You may like this dyno variable video. Check it out. Very educational. ruclips.net/video/IklrZe20_Ao/видео.html that is the link.
Do you have a preferred car shipping company?
Yes we only use www.incognitoexpress.com/ they transport enclosed check out their website.
Beautiful 3v and sounds great good HP for the street 👍🏽🔥🔥
Couldn't agree more!
Would these cams be suitable for an autocross application?
Yes especially because you would be in the mid to high RPM area and even down low they offer minimal loss vs other grinds.
@@BrenspeedEngineering Thank you very much. Winter project here we come 💪🏻
@@KINGSUN_33it’s a learning experience.. to say the least. I invested in all MMR billet tensioners, guides, oem chains, all new lifters/rocker arms, oem phasers/solenoids, FRPP HP oil pump, Edelbrock water pump paired with the FRPP aluminum radiator, mishimoto 160* T-stat and the GT500 cooling fan & she still runs hot.. Jet-Hot ceramic coated the kooks headers and wrapped the X-pipe but the under hood temps are still well above 180. I don’t even track this thing… 😂
Awesome numbers for NA 3V, love the cam lope. This is going to be a daily street beast.
It will be for sure
@@BrenspeedEngineeringwhat is your idle set at.. I can’t get my muthathukprs to lope like that
3Vs sound great.
They do!
Would more performance oriented cams that are still streetable, ported intake, and ported heads hit 380-400whp? All on SBE? Or is bumping compression definitely needed?
400 is tough but we have done it on full lightened drivetrain, ported heads, big cams, minimal accessories, etc... but it is not common at all. We are talking dynojet SAE rating also not STD which shows higher numbers. Compression bump helps get you there all motor as the stock is only 9.8.1. 380 is even tough dynojet SAE rated but again possible if you are willing to go lightened drivetrain and every mod possible.
@@BrenspeedEngineering ok nice my friend sent me this video he’s in the process of building a max effort 3V. He has a 3V with coyote rods forged pistons 10:5:1 roughly with some decent comp cams, no AC, electric water pump, MHS ported heads, FRPP intake, and is running E. It’s an auto with a good size stall so I think that’s what the limiting factor is. He’s hoping for 400whp revving to 6800-7K. I’ll have video up in a little while of my 360whp 4v mach 1 it’s pretty fun.
I’ll get to know soon guys! I have a Ford Racing/Eagle 3.750” stroker crank, Eagle rods, Mahle .020” over pistons all ARP studs and clevite bearings for this build. It’ll get a T56 swap also with a built clutch, none of that McLeod garbage either. I’ll run it NA until it’s properly broken in and of course I plan to have it blown within the next couple years. I’m guessing it’ll be 500na all day and 999+ boosted… I’ve seen 1100 out of one of these blocks.
I wish I could do this to my cat
Thanks for watching!
You can do it! Start collecting parts, one by one!
Yes sir🤘🏾🫡💯😎❤️🔥👏🏾👏🏾
Thanks for watching
Glass roof makes that car a lot cooler. Best sounding motor + glass roof. Good car tbh you don’t need more than 350 to have fun.
does anyone know the wheel setup on this car i see them everywhere but cannot find out the name of them
Sorry we do not sell wheels I would look but that car was here back in 2023. Maybe somebody else who has them that reads this can tell you.
Hi Brent, thanks for the video! I have a kind of weird unique question for you. I have a 2006 with identical set up as this video and my AC compressor went out the shop changed
two different AC compressors aftermarket, and it bolts to the engine with three main bolts The 2007 and up use 4 bolts that mount compressor to the engine. My AC compressor keeps twisting in the direction of the belt and the shop is saying I have too much torque that it is causing to AC compressor to twist this doesn’t sound right I’ve been driving this car for six years with the cams, have you ever heard of this happening with a cammed three valve or even a cammed supercharged three valve? I trust your expertise. Thanks.
Yah thats not right. My guess something stripped out and its not truly tight. You can make 1000 rwhp with that in the stock location and it not move. Never, ever, ever, have I seen that happen here and we build these cars weekly. Something is not correct on that.
@@BrenspeedEngineering thanks for the reply. I love my car but need a/c I live in Louisiana lol. If this shop doesn’t get it right I’m bringing it to Ford.
I want to tune and I have a sct x4 7015 and I don’t know how to unlock it and tune my car I just got the Detroit rockers and a cold air intake and I want to tune it on 93 let me know if anyone can help me out
My 05 gt btw
If you mean you have a locked SCT tuner to another vehicle you simply go to www.sctflash.com they have an online way to pay to unlock it. At that point you can purchase an email tune from us, load it on the device, and load it on the car. Here is a link to our email tunes but you will need a tuner that is unlocked. www.brenspeed.com/05-08-mustang-programmers-e-mail-tune.html
Pretty good numbers. It would have put down over 350rwhp if it also had underdrive pulleys.
Thanks for the comment
It actually has Steeda UDP’s… and those aren’t Detroit’s, they are Ford Racing “HOT ROD” Cams.
I have a 2007 gt 3 valve, and the previous owner stated to have a tune on the vehicle and this may be dumb but how would I know if it is tuned and would I need a retune when I plan to add said parts. I currently have a air raid intake and magnaflow tips with a 5 speed auto, what would you suggest I start by doing? And adding?
I’m quite new to cars but would love to start the build on this myself, it has 107 k miles and I’ve been keeping up with the maintenance but would like to start making a bit more power, love the way cammed cars sound but am not sure if that’s the way to begin
Unless they gave you a tuner it would be hard to tell if you have a tune on it. Here is a link to a good place to start. ruclips.net/video/RHScJSgheoQ/видео.html
@@BrenspeedEngineeringthanks for the response I have checked that out!! I’m gonna go for a retune and am wondering if I’d need a intake manifold or any supporting mods if I want long tube headers or a cam shaft upgrade?
Do these require a tune
Yes you can get that at www.brenspeed.com
@Brenspeed....if you could only do 1 mod to a 3V engine....from your website,,,which one are you doing?cams, blower, longtubes, tune?
Well if only 1 mod was my choice it would be a supercharger. If 1 mod was my choice and I had under $900 it would be intake and tuner package.
I have one stroked, 40 over 11:2 to 1 , Ford bump cams, kooks, Tremec 6 ,ltwt aluminum FW. Maybe 10 -15 Hp more? We will see. Thanks for content.
Hard telling but that compression will sure help! Thanks!
Will you get more chop with a lower idle speed on the Detroit rockets? I’m wandering what would be the best cam with the stock heads i know the ones I’m looking at will all clear without having to do head work, but what would be the best option on the stock heads, the Howard rattlers I’m pretty sure they have the biggest lift and duration, other option is the frpp cams or Detroit rockers
Rocker cams have the highest lift you should use on stock valve springs at .450 and they make higher low end than any of the others listed. You can lower the idle to anything you want as long as the car does not stall and yes it will lope even more. We set them by default to 850 rpm but you can use the tuner to lower it to your liking.
What does a completely stock mustang with no mods at all make on rwhp? Just wondering what the difference is by adding those mods to it. Thanks
Typically about 260 to the rear tires on a dynojet.
If I installed Detroit rocker cams on my truck 4.6 3v would it be better for towing?
All cams shift your power band up. So you remove a little low end and trade it for mid to high rpm. So I would say it is not really what you do for towing at super low rpm all the time.
I have finally got my hands-on one of these after wanting 1 for nearly 20 years. I am absolutely gonna be bringing the car to you guys for a complete build. Very much looking forward to it!
Awesome glad you got one! Enjoy!
@@BrenspeedEngineering I love this platform. I can't wait to get some cash saved up and bring it to y'all for the full bolt on experience
As a new 3v owner!!
I’m super excited for this video!!
Hope you enjoy it!
Coyote is the way ! They just make crazy hp ! The 4.6 is slow but sounds good
Thanks for watching!
The cost is less on a 3v. The car costs less and the engine costs less. There's always a coyote guy on every video about a 3v or anything that isn't a coyote commenting on how much power the coyote makes. It's so old and predictable. We all know already. A 350 rwhp chopping 3v with a better sound can be a ton of fun.
Also it isn't "slow" this would gap a stockish coyote with a gear and good driver. Yea it's "slower" than a coyote is stock for stock and mod for mod but it isn't slow by a long shot.
@@midnight347 It's because nice 3v's aren't cheap purchases like people say... I just browsed marketplace for a nice 3v. After about 10 minutes I am browsing different locations finally I found one I would like to own. It has 64,000 miles, 2006, manual, CLEAN, stock, asking $15,000, I can probably talk him down to $14,000.
Now I am thinking how to achieve 400 tire. Stoker kit with proper stroker cams, heads, intake setup will be required, but even then, I am not entirely sure if the car will peak 400 tire. I would also ensure when I done stoker/h/c/i... I completely forged the engine. My first month of owning it fully built NA, I hard launch after putting on my favorite tire, BAM! the TR 3650 just broke, now I am towing my 3v home with a friend, thinking on ride home I know stock driveshaft is probably next. Now I am on google looking for a driveshaft and a 6spd both rated for 700tire to be safe because even built with a procharger I am little over 600ish to tire... max effort yet a wanting feeling after all my work. So, I found a nice carbon fiber driveshaft and a tremec 6spd rated for my new HP needs... between buying the 3v and expensive to defeat FBO gen3 10spd cars I am now ball park in for $35,000.
Knowing I could have bought that nice gen 2 GT with 80,000 miles I found for $20,000 and order a TT kit, upgraded pump, and injectors, FBO for less than I have paid all together for my 3v and have 800 safely to the tire with IRS and better features and a better daily driver/idling car.
That said I like 3v cars but not much comparison between a 3v 4.6 and a 4v 5.0 if you're talking performance/racing one is night and day better overall.
What wheels are those?
Not sure they were already on the car
Cheap eBay wheels.. Avant Garde Hyper Silver M359 19x9’s, for sale with 275/40/19 Michelin Pilot AS3+’s on 3 wheels with 1 new AS4….
They look like amr wheels from american muscle
Me watching this in my 3v 😂 I would have done fbo already but I gotta save for moving out
lol
I’m taking my 3V huger orange 07 there in 2 weeks for top 5 add on
Sweet!
Nice!…Glass roof…heated seats and Mach 1000 too?
It’s the 45th anniversary edition, the only s197 trim that had the “moon roof”
Was this with the stock rear end ratio?
Sorry can't remember what gears were in that. Thanks for watching!
Why the 39lb injectors?
He shipped them here with the car so we used them. Stock would work but he wanted new injectors so we used what he had already purchased.
Because I’m building a Coyote eating beast.. next comes the stroker kit and a blower.
Nice video, I'm aiming above 350 hp all motor on my 09 s197
Easily attainable the Detroit rockers are conservative compared to other cams
Good luck!
@@midnight347these aren’t Detroit Rockers.. they are Ford Racing “Hot Rod”cams. Also, good luck on your quest for 350+ NA
@bullittoothtony4043 Thanks 😊
@@F-U-CKYTCensorshipthe title of the video said destroit rocker. The Ford racing cams are also mild so I stand by my first statement.
Interesting. My 05 made 344whp and 322wtq with similar mods..but hotrod cams...stock manifold with cmcv deletes. The hp also peaked at 6600
Thanks for watching
These are also FRPP “Hot-Rod” cams btw, those are good numbers bud! I’m not even mad. U probably live closer to sea level, I’m 5,100ft above it.
@@F-U-CKYTCensorship wernt the numbers corrected though? Just strange the hp peaked lower than mine while you have the frpp manifold. Ive got a dyno video on my channel too
@@hechtspeed🤷🏻♂️ there was a few issues, mainly with the mass air flow sensor, but apparently they thought it has Detroit rockers which it doesn’t.. so there’s that. Also it still has the stock clutch with 85k miles, stock 2.5” exhaust pipes out the back from a kooks catted X with a backyard hack job straight pipe setup with some cheap 4” tips.. it’ll get a stroker kit and blower soon so the exhaust is getting upgraded sooner or later.
@@F-U-CKYTCensorship yeah my car is still on 2.5" pipes as well. Clutch wasnt effecting power numbers. The rocker cams arnt that much diffrrent than hot rods honestly. Did bren speed tune it?
Ik this is a unpopular opinion, but I prefer the 3V over a coyote because it is harder to build good power out of
Thanks for the comment!
