  • The Ford Racing Hot Rod Cams were designed with a few things in mind, to increase horsepower and torque across the entire power band and add some serious bump to your three-valve Mustang! These camshafts are engineered for naturally aspirated and supercharged applications to cover a wide variety of engine setups. It is recommended that these cams be used with long tube headers to achieve significant power gains as well as a Ford Racing Intake Manifold and Throttle Body.

    the problem with this upgrade is that you guys should of put long tube headers, a larger TB, and heads to match the cam upgrade. Then we probably would have seen a significant power increase. All an engine is is a giant vacuum pump. It sucks air in and pushes air out. You still have restrictions/bottlenecks now without proper air induction and exhaust flow. Just saying. awesome video either way. 😊

    If anyone can answer this, I would appreciate it greatly. I have a 05 Mustang GT with 38k miles and I'm hoping to replace only the cams. The car has been taken care of for those 17 years, but I'm not sure if it is a good idea to replace the springs/the entire valves in general. Do you think the hot rod cams will be fine with the 17 yr old OEM valves?

      just take the day off. expect to be in the garage for quite a while. these things never go as planned and you always lose a bolt or two and end up spending 30 minutes looking for the damn thing. or other little mishaps may happen. so its best to just give it a day in the garage. now if you have someone helping you that knows that they are doing id say a couple hours.

      +Juan Beltran Manuals usually experience ~15% drivetrain loss, Autos, closer to 20%. These figures can be improved by cutting out rotational mass in drivetrain components, ie: lightweight driveshaft, lighter internals and rotating assembly, lighter flywheels... even lighter wheels can help get that power to the ground. The less your engine needs to work to move all these things, the more power is available to put to the ground and move you forward.

  • @eformance
    @eformance 8 лет назад +3

    Wow, looking at the before and after dyno curves, this combo is crap. It is down 25-35HP all the way to 4500 RPM, where it is equal and then the new cams take off. What's worse is that torque is down by 50ft/lbs at 2500 and picks up 9ft/lbs at 4800rpm. These cams may sound good, but performance wise this combo is a net loss. It's hard to tell if the intake or cams are responsible, because the CMCV is designed to help low RPM performance. I'd say that intake is probably too much for stock heads and you'd be better off with the stock manifold -- you are losing a lot of velocity down low, just look at the stock torque curve, it's flat from 2k to 3k and rises 35ft/lbs to peak. The cams increase the peak values by 500RPM, but the manifold seems to kill performance down low.

    • @ghunt81
      @ghunt81 8 лет назад +1

      +eformance It's the intake. The Ford Racing intake looks cool but sucks unless you're spinning the engine to 7000 RPM. I saw a test online where they took a car with big cams and ported heads and put the Ford Racing intake on it, it lost a bunch of power down low and only made 10 more hp way up in the RPM range.
