Wow 8 years. That’s dedication. I certainly wont stop trying but I’m hoping it won’t take me a decade 😅 I appreciate letting us watch your wins and losses
The dynamic duo does it again. Nice action guy's. Did Rocco use bait when he was drifting fishing or did he use a corkie or yarnie. Love your enthusiasm and excitement each time you all hook a fish. Keep the action coming. 👏👏👏👏👏
First year of fishing, I got 4 hookups for Summer Steelhead in 3 days. Couldn't land any of them! Sometimes, the hook-ups just don't work out, but you're right: the key is to keep fishing, keep trying.
I guess if you look at it like a Numbers game like you would, if you’re in sales, eventually one of those hook up is going to be a solid hook set and as long as you don’t screw everything else up, you might have a chance of landing it
Great video of the agony of defeat as well as the victory smiles! I need to get out there. I haven't caught nor fished for steelhead for roughly 18 to 20 years. I use all my vacation time for chinook. Hopefully retirement in just a few years changes all that.
Winter Steelhead fishing is tough. Have to put the time in 100%. It is discouraging at times but the tug is addicting 100%. So much fun to fight. Like you said need to sharpen your own knife and use what you have confidence in. Winter steel season is tough but yet so much fun and reward8ng
I think for whatever reason when a fish gets further away you got to go easier on drag… seams like there more delay between line stretch and drag … just 2 cents
Im 3 for 3 this winter so far on beads...but one year i also lost my first 8 hooked on beads. I think the reason people lose so many on beads is because the bead being pegged above the hook like that, a lot of fish are actually hooked on the outside of the lip and i think sometimes the hook is just barely through a tiny piece of skin and it just rips through after a minute.
You’re not alone. I’ve caught one wild and lost every fish since then. Hooked a nice 8-10lb fish right in front of me yesterday and still lost it. I’m not surprised when I lose fish that I hook downstream from me though
I have gone 7 times to various spots on local rivers and haven’t caught one. Then I ran over my poles with my car cuz I placed them leaning against it and forgot to put them in. I went and got a better pole and reel, the set up that many guys use in the pnw. The guy at the store told me that I can’t use the reel for both salt water and fresh water, becusee the fish in the rivers won’t touch my bait if they sense that salt water from the line, and I been doing just that, using same equipment for fresh and saltwater fishing. Maybe this is common sense knowledge, but not to me. I watched over 100 fishing videos from my area, and not one of them mentioned this crucial fact for newbies. I love fishing, so I’m gonna keep going till I start catching steelhead. I have caught lots of other species, but coho and steelhead been elusive for me. Hopefully now that I got new pole reel and line, and new beads. Some lures I need to wash thiugrouky and keep my salt water separate from fresh water lures.
It’s not easy! Fishing for summer steel is another way to get out!! It’s nice weather as well. Like I said in the video, eight years before I got my first fish
Ive never heard that salt water thing. I know lots of people who surf perch fish with their steelhead rods. But everyone also rinses off their stuff after fishing salt water because salt is corrosive..
@@sasharemez7373 I have not heard anything about the salt thing. Good grief… the steelhead live in salt for years growing before coming back into fresh water 💦
Dangling spinners off of branches works pretty well actually. You need to sharpen your hooks bro or put new ones on.. you know steelies have soft mouths right now!!!
You're having a hard time landing them because when they run down river of u and u try to fight them like that u increase the chances of pulling the hook straight out of their mouth. Try to keep them up river of u or out in front of u.
The American river is fricken hotter than Los Angeles on fire right now!! One of the local kids Zay posted his video of just the weekend as they were killing it at nimbus hatchery!!!
Well Brian my steelhead season ended before it started. I ruptured a quad tendon yesterday so I'll living in your success lol. Keep up the great videos brother.

Trish
The learning curve is probably quite a bit better now. They didn’t have Internet and so many videos on how to do things back in the 80s.
Great fish Brian.
Thanks
Awesome video great job
Thanks 😊
That river is ripping along! Dang glad you could get those in!
High water levels really make it a challenge to land!!
It's like trying to cross a freeway with semi trucks running both ways 100mph😂@AutomagicFishing
Good video of the up and down of being a steelheader. I also loved the commentary .
Thanks and lol 😂 we banter a bit

Awesome thank you 😊 Jeff! I don’t think we used any bait. Just a soft bead.
@AutomagicFishing oh by the way the fish were fantastic nickle bright.😎
Nice work! Fun watching you get redeemed.
Thanks John, I knew if perseverance was my middle name that I would finally make things happen
Great video! Sweet hookups and fights.
Thank you, this is one video that I really was happy to make because there is lots of fun and action
My boys love your videos especially my oldest! Keep it up big dawg!!

Best day of the year so far! Awesome!
Good day finally came

What a beautiful fish!! Handled that fish like a pro
Thank you 🙏 appreciate your support

HEY DO THEY STILL HAVE THE BMX TRACK RIGHT THERE BY THE RIVER STILL??
Yessir it’s been there since I was a kid!! No races anymore
Awesome fishing that was some nice fish got. You 2 hammer down on them. Great Steelhead Video.
Thank you sir
Your welcome Brian @@AutomagicFishing
Nice fish.Appreciate the video considering I didn't get to go out this year at all
Thank you for watching!! Hope to hear some good stories if you get out for yourself!!

Amen 🙏
Ok Last Post .. try white glo bug yarn that you use for your yarnies with the bead you want to make it look like a piece of skein with an egg!
That’s a good idea
Took me 3 years before I caught a steelhead. Fish for 20-25 years, stopped for 12-13 years. Started again 2 years ago, love catching them.
It’s awesome
I think for whatever reason when a fish gets further away you got to go easier on drag… seams like there more delay between line stretch and drag … just 2 cents
Some say open bail and the fish will turn around and come back up river
I’ve heard that!!
Do you ever fish the Hook Line sinker & cat property?
Not sure what that is
That’s a great video
Thanks brother
Out of curiosity, what happened to your Stryker rod? Apologies if you mentioned it in another video, I'm still catching up!
Still have the rod
How far are you from the hatchery?
Not very far
Patience is a virtue and we all have it once in awhile. Lol
The grind can get you down if it’s over and over. Nice to get a multiple fish day here and there!!!

It’s definitely a mystery since we can’t do instant replay and zoom in on what really happened. “Lip hooked” or skin hooked.
Is that a coastal river
Yes
You’re not alone. I’ve caught one wild and lost every fish since then. Hooked a nice 8-10lb fish right in front of me yesterday and still lost it. I’m not surprised when I lose fish that I hook downstream from me though
Geometry 📐 can really play when it comes to landing ratios
@ exactly

Keep up the hunt my angling friend. It makes the 1st one unforgettable! After you knock off the skunk, you’ll be dialed

Lots of people add salt to there bait lol
Nice one bro
I’m far from perfect but I try to make videos so people can watch and get a slight taste of the adventure!!
Dangling spinners off of branches works pretty well actually. You need to sharpen your hooks bro or put new ones on.. you know steelies have soft mouths right now!!!
I didn’t know about mouths getting soft
It was deff coming up by the time you left first day 😅
That’s for sure
You're having a hard time landing them because when they run down river of u and u try to fight them like that u increase the chances of pulling the hook straight out of their mouth. Try to keep them up river of u or out in front of u.
Obviously u can't always control the situation but when possible if u can control it this will help your odds
True
What state are you fishing? That river looks amazing.
Thank you 🙏 NW !! Oregon River
@AutomagicFishing thank you

Nice
I said it before, I’ll say it again…. No touchy the drag!!!!🤪🤪 they’ll get tired. Feed em line and hope they forget they’re hooked.
😂
Well Brian my steelhead season ended before it started. I ruptured a quad tendon yesterday so I'll living in your success lol. Keep up the great videos brother.
@ oh no man that sucks, I’ll do my best
Remember to like the video after you watch it. :) This is a good one!!
Thanks Jennifer!! Please 🙏 if you are looking for a good video to share with your online friends, this one is better than most I do
Some day your eating hot dog and bean and the next day your having steely diner that how it goes
Both are good 😊
