This song was prophetic in two ways. The first is "breaking down the walls between us". This was the 1988 Olympics, and just one year later, the Berlin Wall would fall and the Iron Curtain would collapse in Europe. The second is "hand in hand we stand". Just one year before, South Koreans in the millions stood together in the June Struggle, which lead to the end of the military dictatorship, and lead to a boom in Korean economic and cultural progress which culminated in Korea today becoming a developed country, with democratic values and a strong vibrant culture. For these reasons this Olympic song really has some SEOUL-stirring significance.

Sometimes you forgotten some of good memories, and in listening to one song, all those memories came flooding, and it makes you cry. Because you remember good things happened during your youth that will never happen again in your lifetime. I was 10 years old and in fourt grade when i heard this song, and my crush came to me And ask me whats the title of this song, which i also dont know. I just said hand in hand. The rest is history. Its just like a colored picture as vivid and vibrant as if it happened yesterday.

Yugoslavia at its swan song whereas the two Germanies were on the verge to merge. I was 9 years back then and nowadays looking back at that time it seems to me the world gathered for the last time. Prophetically as played in the song many walls have broken down soon after Seoul 88. At Barcelona 92 world wasn't the same anylonger
