    I have used your system dozens of times. Loving the pitch and and consistency with the shower pans. When it comes to the drain, the tile always seems to dip around the drain, how can I prevent that dip?

      Hi Jose. Be sure to fill the step in the bonding flange with thin-set mortar and keep the proper slope to the edge of the tray when installing the tile around the grate. Also, back butter the underside of the grate for full support. Then make sure to raise the height adjustment collar to the proper height so the grate is not lower than the surrounding tiles. Here is a video that may help. ruclips.net/video/IDF2n8Eqmmo/видео.html

    My contractor installed the kerdi tile grate. Due to the small mosaic tiles it does not look good. It think that it would be better if it was a large tile pattern. Is there a process to change to a 4" stainless steel kerdi grate without ripping out the entire floor?

      @ I see the little feet but there’s nothing for them to snap into. It looks like they just sit on the base. Can you add a dab of caulk to ensure it stays in place?

    Would this work well with pebble stone mosaics as the shower floor?

    • @schlutersystems1
      @schlutersystems1  Год назад

      Hi Aaron! It is possible, but may be a bit tricky. Make sure the pebble stones are well supported on the grate and not overhanging to much. It might be good to try it first on something similar to the grate as a test before purchasing the tileable drain and installing the full assembly.

    • @kevinheuple7733
      @kevinheuple7733 10 месяцев назад

      If you haven't done this yet it's doable but tricky. I used some extra kerdi-band as a backer and thinset the mosaic to that and essentially made a full tile out of the mosaics to match the size of the grate. Then follow all the normal steps.

    • @schlutersystems1
      @schlutersystems1  3 года назад +1

      Hi Kent, Make sure the bottom of your tiles around the tile spacer is touching the integrated tabs on the lateral adjustment ring. This will ensure that the tiles around the tile spacer will be even with the tile on the covering support, which will make everything flush. This only works if the subfloor is level and flat after you recess the subfloor. What if your subfloor is not level and flat below the shower pan? Wouldn’t you then pour SLU after recessing the subfloor? In that case, how do you match up the floor/shower transition once SLU is involved? Do you have also have to add SLU to the rest of the bathroom floor?

    Can this be used for penny mosaics?

    • @schlutersystems1
      @schlutersystems1  3 года назад +2

      Hi Andrew!
      Any size tile can be used with the KERDI-DRAIN Tile Grate. Larger tiles would of course be cut down. Smaller tiles, like penny rounds, may require a little more planning and skill. You can check out the Schluter-Shower System Installation Handbook for more details: sccpublic.s3-external-1.amazonaws.com/sys-master/images/haf/h3c/9078303391774/Shower%20System%20Installation%20Handbook.pdf

      @@schlutersystems1 One more follow up question. When dry fitting penny mosaics with this drain cover assembly when they sit on top of the tabs to be level with the drain cover tile, it causes a slight incline when coming to the drain. Will this be okay? Everything else is perfectly pitched with schluter shower tray but just it slightly causes a small incline when sitting on top of these tabs.

    I really think you guys could do a much better job with this set up, depending on the situation, size tile, pitch cuts etc it’s a pain not having height adjustment,I don’t understand why the original drain was not used with just the collar part removed, the part the grate would sit in, would make everything so much easier , love all your products but it’s definitely a miss on this one.
