    I live in semi-independent and i hate mine but i dont know if id be able to live at yours. how you explaind it is spot on, my inital thaught was 'it'll be easy and i can do my own shit, no-one to answer to" now i kinda think "fuck, my care home was easyier" your right when you say its the beginning of becoming an adult. my home is 24hr staff and its hard but than i look at yours where you litterally on you own. i literally have to stay this again YOU EXPLAIN THIS SO WELL!!!!!! i think anyone thinking about going into semi should watch this. its not long but give you the info you need to know.
    i dont know what shits happend in your life for you to end up in care but you look like your doing well. ive only watched this and im subed aha, you seem so cool :) hope you see this comment. love this vid :)

    Hi, most semi independents unfortunately as far as I am aware do not offer rooms with bathrooms, my first semi house I shared a bathroom with 4 boys as one room was an On suite, I can spend between £40 - £70 on food shopping which includes my toiletries and other house hold products. On average I'll spend £40 a week on food shopping but can spend as little as £25 if I am just topping up my fridge and cupboards. You may find shopping in places like pound stores very helpfully when it comes down to shower gell and toothpaste and it will allow you to bulk buy so you don't have to keep spending money as such.
    😊
    Hope this can help you more darling.

    Hi nay nay my name is lance people call me Lzz I recently just had my last social worker
    I'm now going to be turning 18 years of age
    And will be given semi living skills which I already have or a council flat I dont appreciate the fact that all of us as humans have to claim universal credit but I'm no job seeker I'm one hard worker just waiting to be just like you I hope everything goes well for you at age 25 I hope you sincerely find happiness in your life as for allot of people in care find it hard and when being given a 2k grant for a council flat I no it can be hard but you have given me some motivation to step up and embrace my change in my world

    Hi, I'm moving into semi independent living and this gave me a lot of insight! I was just wondering if there was anymore info you could give such as do most places give rooms with their own bathroom or is it likely I'll have to share? Not that I really care just wondering 😅 also, how much do you spend on food a week roughly? How do you manage your money?! Thanks! ❤❤❤

    • @SelfMadeNae
      @SelfMadeNae  7 лет назад +1

      Hello so you are most likely going to have to share the communal areas such as bathroom kitchen and toilet however you can get a few semi independent units which you may only have to share the kitchen and hall was as a communal area , I roughly spend £45 a week on food shopping but I can also spend £70 on food shopping one week and only spend £15 the next week it all depends on you , your eating habits and if you’ll be cooking everyday and not ordering takeaway and ready meals, I currently work so it is now easier for my to manager my money as I get a considerable larger amount of money then benefits which is £57.90 I use to have to prioritise food shopping

    I am currently working on moving out of adult foster care homes into my first Semi-independent living home I Wish it was possible to share my stories with you girls and live together as an extended family I am extremely nervous about it because I might not like it the online web has so many misused information that I can't trust I told my people that I want to work at a mechanic shop and also hopes that this will happen to get myself a swonderfull job

      @SelfMadeNae  5 лет назад

      omgitsnishaaa hi , Urrm independent living was easy for me to adjust to only because I was working part time and was pregnant however it can be hard to budget as I did have to pay my own bills I.e gas and electric and council tax however because it was still found by my Local authority I didn’t have to pay rent I’m currently taking my Social services to court to get my permanent council accommodation as I have a 10 month old and I’m pregnant

    hey.. dont mind my username i beg you i dont even know how to change it but anyways ive been in foster care for the last three weeks, im 17 years old and im turning 18 this december. ive been told i’m going to be put into semi independent housing before my eighteenth birthday and i was just wondering if you have any tips, is it worth it? what do you recommend i do basically, i’m in full time education ( i go sixth form ) i’m kinda new to all of this it’s kind of a shock i’m just wondering what i should be expecting. i’m really self reliant and i honestly can’t wait till i get a place of my own. thank you!

    • @SelfMadeNae
      @SelfMadeNae  4 года назад

      Hi their no problem well it honestly depends as their are a range of semi independent type unites their are ones for under 18s which you are sometimes not allowed visitors in your bedroom and they can only come from a certain time and have to leave by 10pm and they have 24 hour staff and a full circuit cctv in communal areas. I was initially in a staff supported unit with cctv from 17 till 18 however I was allowed to stay out 3 times a week I was also allowed visitors in my room and over night guests twice a week. If I was you I would ask my social worker what type of semi independent units they are looking at for you as sometimes they want to see what like skills you have and how you manage money and studying while living alone so they may put you in a staff unit until your are 18 or just after 18 years old as you are still classed as a minor hope this helps. Be mindful that not every borough is obligated to give a care leaver priority in terms of social housing and private renting may be the only option you have at 18 if you are not intending to go to university and due to the housing crisis even as a care leaver unless you are a single parent or have health needs you maybe not be classed as priority even if the council do provide you with a bidding number. I would take full advantage of living in a semi independent unit for as long as I can and try and save as much as you can

      It’s really not the best, they put you with tramps and criminals.
