We converted the garage that is attached to our home into a master suite. We did add a bathroom and walk-in closet to that space. Truly one of our best decisions. I will warn you to really insulate it. We took all of these proper steps and it made a world of difference. Hugs🌸
Just a recommendation on the garage conversion. We bought a home recently with a converted 1 car garage. Manny of the homes in our area have converted garages, but what I like about ours is that the front 8 feet stayed a garage/storage place. So we keep bikes and kids outdoor toys in there. The back two thirds is a finished room. So it doesn't look like we have a converted garage and we still have functional storage space, but we have additional living space also. Just an idea!
Winter brings lots of projects to do indoors for me. Ohhh, I'm excited to see if you and your Hubby renovate your garage to a bedroom or living space. Both of you are so incredibly handy and creative for your home projects.
Years ago when my family was outgrowing our bi level home,we converted our garage into a bedroom for our oldest son. We built a wall four feet inside the garage door. That way we had a little bit of storage and didn’t have to remove the garage door. He still had a good sized bedroom. My husband built a closet with bifold doors for him there was already a window. You do have to insulate the wall since air can get in from the garage door. I hope this helps and gives you some ideas
My friends bought a house where the two car garage had already been converted to a living space. It was in the bottom of a split level house,so when their adult daughter moved back home for awhile, she had a very nice size, private bedroom/living suite. The garage doors had also been left in place which maintained the exterior architectural integrity and would make for an easier conversion back for the next homeowner if desired. Hillary wouldn’t need the garage storage since they have another large garage, but since my friends didn’t even have an additional storage shed,I thought that it was really clever that each garage door revealed a few feet of depth storage for the lawn mower and yard tools and the other for bikes and camping gear. They said that it was the most organized their “garage” had ever been, since they had to maximize every inch of space, like tools hung on the wall up to the ceiling, and there was no room to just toss in other random stuff!🙌🏻
I think adding another bedroom for you and Dan is a wonderful idea. The property you have is already so spacious - the house feels expansive, and the outdoor play area for the children is enormous. Dan has his own garage to work from home, and with the basement, you've gained amazing storage, living space, and even a bathroom with washer and dryer. Honestly, when I'm an old lady, I’ll be set with that setup!( lol 😂) The potential is really incredible. As the years go by quickly, before you know it, the kids will be heading off to college. You have so much land at the back that a vegetable or fruit garden could be a great future project. The possibilities are endless. I truly love your home, and I think the idea of adding a bedroom is fantastic. And if one of the kids decides not to go away to college, that room could easily serve as a quiet study space - no one would even know it was originally a bedroom. My Aunt and Uncle did something similar many years ago, and it turned out beautifully.🙋🏻♀️❤️❤️❤️❤️👏🏼👏🏼
Toast and Jam tea is wonderful but my favorite is their biscuit tea! Oh my stars it's amazing! I drink it daily! Love Erin's channel too. It's been neat seeing it take off over the last month or so. Dinner looked so yummy and yay for awesome winter weather kicking the year off.
I would suggest you make a file for thread up to keep records of orders and if need to return items you just look in file instead of going through emails👍🏻 i do this and so mich easier.
It's nice to have a bonus this month of your videos - vlog-uary! Helps get through the blah month, hanging out with you. The garage /bedroom - I've seen remodels where the garage door is left, there's about 3-4 feet deep of storage behind the garage door and the rest of the space is finished, livable space.
Thank you so much for sharing my channel! I’ve had another little bump in subscribers because of it. Thank you thank you! Plus I really enjoy your videos ❤️❤️❤️☕️🫖
My adult daughter and I have a rule for ourselves not to buy anything on Thredup that is listed final sale. We've learned there is always a legit reason why it has that label. In the fall I sent in clothes to them for the first time. I can't say I understand the process completely, but it looks like I will get 15 to 20% of the sale price which is about $2 per dress!
I love that some people are grinding. But I also appreciate those who keep using things as is and not hop on trends. Although, there are wonderful benefits. :) I love your channel and am excited for the wintering vlogs. :) I can't afford a grinder at this time in my life but I do love all the different options. We used to do tea time every Thursday for years. I am a 26 year homeschool veteran so definitely loved those precious moments. Oh, I was curious...is it possible to make a bedroom downstairs?
I see other people recommending teas, so will add my two cents - Candy Cane Lane by Celestial Seasonings is decaf grey tea and peppermint. My favorite!
pretty sure you can get a return code re-sent via email for the sweater return. Like your winter activities, and excited to see the garage conversion later this year.
I starting milling my wheat this year. It’s AMAZING! We just love the delicious breads we are eating. I’m still working on some recipes, like pancakes, that haven’t worked the same way. I highly recommend that you jump in!
Birch Benders...... always grab those @HEB Central Market when they go on sale. Along with the Gluten free, they do have a protein version and chocolate chip.
I love seeing just a "little dusting." I'm in Kentucky, and we're sitting right now under 10 and 1/2 in of snow mixed with ice. It's very cold here 21° 🥶 🧊 ❄️ Have a blessed day!!! 😊
On the subject of winter blues.... there is a popular book out right now by Katherine May, entitled Wintering. Have not read it, but heard good things.
Hilary you just so cute…vest was nice but as someone else commented …probably better with pants ,sweats, etc…I love vests when I’m working in the home because my arms are more free…I usually wear the thinner quilted type…on sale all over at this time of year.
I don’t think you asked, Hilary, but I feel like you were correct on the sweater vest. It seems to hit you in the wrong place. What about one of the girls wearing it ?
I like granola on my yogurt. If you like the vest here's a suggestion. Wear jeans with boots and a checked shirt with the vest over it. It would look good on you. I know you like dresses but jeans look good on you. Try it with different outfits before you let it go. If it's not for you give to a sister if they do. Have a great day and God bless you all. ❤
We've been enjoying a tea we found @TraderJoes Winter Wake Up Tea . We bought one and then had to go back for MORE. In any case, my daughter and I were joking that now that it truly feels COLD here in Texas, we've been drinking MUGS of hot tea, coffee or cocoa. TRYING to sneak in cold water to rev up our metabolism. Stay warm everyone.
Hilary, if I may I would like to share a milk I just discovered, ( "New to me" , borrowing your words) that only has 3 ingr. and NO GUM. Almond Malk ( yes, M A L K) is organic and only has almonds and water. It truly taste so good! I love it for smoothies, to add to my coffee etc. The only draw back is the bottle is smaller than most nut milks.
I think it was the pockets in the side of the cardigan that made it poke out... if your going to donate it why dont you try taking out the pockers first and making it so it lays flat on you. That is something i do often as i dislike bulky clothing on my hips /sides.
I highly recommend Peppermint Bark tea by Bigelow. It is a seasonal tea that tastes like chocolate and peppermint. I went through a whole box last year!
Yes, to starting to mill flour!! The nutrition alone is so superior but the flavor is so good too! There is a learning curve but I've found that Lovely Bell Bakes recipes to be consistently wonderful. Thanks for sharing your month with us!
I have a question with your windows been open in the middle of the winter. Does that not run your electric bill up, or do you turn your heat off? I would not mind to do that a couple of times a week just to air out my house in the winter.
I do love Aldi, but it’s just not comprehensive enough for us and I always wound up needing to place a Walmart order to supplement. Aldi is still a fantastic option but I’ve just tried to streamline my ordering recently 💛
No to the vest with the dress. I think there's too much fabric under the vest. I think vests need closely fitted clothing underneath them. I also don't care for the contrast of the looks of the two fabrics. And by that I mean the chunky knit of the vest with what looks like flowy floral fabric of the dress. It looks like you threw on the vest because that's what you had on hand vs a put-together outfit. That vest with a fitted turtle neck, jeans and your boots might work. Plus the fact that you are questioning your choice means something's not right to you. Trust your instinct. Thanks for the video.
A long sweater vest like that looks nice with a turtleneck and jeans. That’s not your style. Maybe your sister or a friend would like it. Happy New Year. 😊

I've seen that type of conversations in other videos, its a good idea.
The Friday Tea tradition is so sweet ☕️🫖

The vest may balloon due to the fullness of the skirt on the dress. (?) It would look cute with jeans and boots.

Good morning! Just got off at 4am PST and was excited to see your video!!!! Great way to start my day.
That blue looks particularly good on you!
It's always a treat to see your videos. 😊
Hi! The homemade granola looks good. I love the extra crispy kind because it’s so good on yogurt! I love this series! ❤
Toast and Jam tea is wonderful but my favorite is their biscuit tea! Oh my stars it's amazing! I drink it daily! Love Erin's channel too. It's been neat seeing it take off over the last month or so.

Ooh I’ll have to check that one out!
Happy New Year, thanks for your videos, I really enjoy them❤

Nice to see your winter vlogs, love your kids library bags! Cute designs!!

Hillary, the sweater vest looked beautiful on you!
Thank you for sharing. I’ve quit processed foods/sugar for our 21 day church fast, and I can’t wait to try the chia pudding!

Thank you Hilary... always so good to see you! Sorry your Thread Up order did not work out.
Homemade granola looks good, Hilary
Please send some of those sunny days this way, we have had cloudy and snow for at least a week. One day of a couple hour sun, that’s it.
It seems the year is moving along pretty rapidly. Wasn't it just Christmas??!!! Your granola looked delicious!
pretty sure you can get a return code re-sent via email for the sweater return. Like your winter activities, and excited to see the garage conversion later this year.

Maybe this will be the year! My dad started milling his own this past year and is just raving about it 💛

Donate the vest! Harney and Sos has wonderful teas if you want something new to try.
On the subject of winter blues.... there is a popular book out right now by Katherine May, entitled Wintering. Have not read it, but heard good things.
Be careful about the mice if you store your cushions in your garage. I speak from experience…
Thanks for all your helpful hints!!
You could tie the vest in the back to give it more shape at the waist and like others it may look good with jeans!
Hilary you just so cute…vest was nice but as someone else commented …probably better with pants ,sweats, etc…I love vests when I’m working in the home because my arms are more free…I usually wear the thinner quilted type…on sale all over at this time of year.

Your white chicken chili looks so yummy! Recipe please 😁
Sure! 💛 tastesbetterfromscratch.com/creamy-white-chicken-chili/
That sweater would be cute with a stretchy long sleeve shirt and leggings 😍
Cut the vest up and make pillows!
Enjoyed.

You can wear whatever you want you look gorgeous. Since you're of Asian descent
Good morning love your video you made a 1 hour bread I can not find the recipe will you post it in this video for me thank you
Good morning! Sure thing 💛 www.sugardishme.com/classic-crusty-herbed-dinner-loaf/
Thank you so much we love the recipe@@OldWorldHome

Do you. If you want to just use flour from the store...do it! If you want to grind your own do that. But do what works for you and your family.
I highly recommend Peppermint Bark tea by Bigelow. It is a seasonal tea that tastes like chocolate and peppermint. I went through a whole box last year!

I only do it for maybe 15 minutes, so I have no idea how that affects our heat. We have oil heat so our electric wouldn’t be affected
Enjoyed
Looking forward to seeing you convert the garage…whenever that will be. 😁
Wear the vest around the house for extra warmth. It’s a nice vest. Maybe it would look good with jeans?
Have the vest cut shorter if you can't do it let someone else do it for you 😊
That sweater would look so cute with leggings or even jeans … I like it
I have noticed the last few times you had groceries delivered they were from Walmart. Do you no longer use Aldi for your groceries?
I do love Aldi, but it’s just not comprehensive enough for us and I always wound up needing to place a Walmart order to supplement. Aldi is still a fantastic option but I’ve just tried to streamline my ordering recently 💛
❤
In the same way with bills. I hate wasting my time! Have you heard of colleen Coble? She is a Christian crime/mystery author. Excellent novels!
I know my opinion doesn’t really matter, you do you but the vest was a no for me. It did not hit you in the right places.
I think if you find a vest that hits at the waist it would look fantastic😊
I agree with a no on the vest, I like the color and the idea of it.
No to the vest with the dress. I think there's too much fabric under the vest. I think vests need closely fitted clothing underneath them. 😊👋👍
In my opinion you're of Asian descent as far as I can tell
Gingerbread Joy is one of my favorite teas! I would definitely also recommend the Christmas tea blend by Twinings. :)
Do you ver read nonfiction or self help? I’m reading Things that Matter by Joshua Becker and it is very good.
Good to know!
Yorkshire and Twinnings teas are Such good brands of tea.
Big fan of Yorkshire
You're gorgeous who cares what everybody else says about a stupid vest
FYI, Ayurveda says cooked Honey is equal to poison.
🙄
I like the vest on you…perhaps with a different color dress or jeans and a tshirt top underneath.
I don't care about the vest Unless you wear some stupid hat On RUclips if they're having a bad hair day If you're gonna use RUclips fix your hair
❤
