    John, How does the cutting and polishing ability of the Rupes HLR 15 compare to your Flex Forced rotation XCE 8? I'm on the fence as far as which one to get.

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  5 месяцев назад +2

      That's a really cool question. I'm not sure. But forced rotation never stalls so I just find it edges a bit better. But this new rupes cordless runs upto 5200 opm on 15mm orbit. Vs 3800 on 8mm but driven rotation. Id guess they would be close

      @@ForensicDetailing I’ve got the Flex 3401 VRG corded. Had it a very long time. Like you, with your Porsches and Track running Bimmer, I’ve done all the maintenance it needs and it runs well. I value your input since you’ve worked with both. Based on your feedback I’ll definitely be picking up the Cordless Flex, since 90% of my polishing has been done with a Direct Drive Flex. Cheers.

    Hello mate,
    What was your final thoughts on this tool overall, I understand that this tool isn’t going to be as good as a forced rotation or rotary as far as heavy cutting/paint correction on heavily abused paint. I also am a firm believer in the type of compounds with the right pad is crucial.
    How was the pad stall throughout using this machine? I have one in my cart and am ready to jump into the big boy league. I have a decent 2 car full paint correction job and interior conditioning coming up in a week and this thing sounds lovely. I’ve had a flex XFE and XCE in my cart for along time now too waiting for the rupes to drop but have heard not so much good things. And also rupes paid for reviews from big name retailers.

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  2 месяца назад

      This is a payed for promotion mate so Im not critising the tool just showcasing it. I only got it for a day but I think the biggest complaints Im hearing in the comments are price and the location of the battery being too close to the surface you are polishing. The build quality, the new plate system, the power is all really good. I will get one one day. another thing to consider is we all want rupes to release more 18v cordless tools so we can use one tool maker for all our needs.

    Thanks again for another interesting video. There have been some reports that the machine can wander and walk with wool and microfibre pads. How are you finding it with wool and microfibre pads so far? Overall the machine has many pros, but one thing that surprises me is that Rupes didn't join the CAS or Bosch 18v battery alliances.

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  5 месяцев назад

      I've done one car with yellow rupes wool. Was great. Someone mentioned battery gets close to car which is true. But no walking. Im used to forced rotation so DA always feels highly stable to me. Da can't really walk you because it's only 15mm orbit that's driven. Plate it not driven and it's the plate rotation which creates travel. Blue wool and course compound needs very short rapid wet set or else can be very grabby to remove.

    The design is flawed with the curved design with the battery it sits so close to the panel when polishing and I seen about 15 cars done with this polisher to u so worried u going to hit the panel and have to adjust your technique not ideal. Also not having to mains cord adapter on release for professional using this all day is not great and making u pay for it separately is clever by rupes and greedy as it available just making more money. So my advice don’t buy it because how the battery sit get yourself a flex

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  5 месяцев назад +4

      I think it's good observation. You get close on verticals. You can create more distance with straight handle like flex but then you loose the ergonomic design. I think locating a large square 18v 5 amp battery will always be a challenge. If you want best ergonomic you make tube battery like in the nano or hlr75. But then you loose ability to make suite of power tools using standard battery platform. So does use of this square 5am 18v hint at more cordless tools on same platform. I hope so. Remember talking about this with flex tools years ago. Rupes I think needs to bring out full range of battery powered tools. Lighting, drill, blower, pump inflator, impact drivers and wrench etc...

    • @larrydavisj
      @larrydavisj 3 месяца назад

      Or just stick with what they do best. I wont be breaking the bank to purchase this one. Way too much money for a flawed design. I would love to know why Rupes didn't turn the battery sideways or 180°. @ForensicDetailing

    Would be interested for you to test the Ryobi DA. I know it’s not going to be as good as the main brands but as someone which has a ton of Ryobi batteries, it’s tempting. They also make a detail polisher too.

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  5 месяцев назад +1

      I will do it m8 I just had a feeling it might be the same core machine as a few other ones. So the review would basically conclude if I have Ryobi tools and want a cordless da and never want to accompany it with mini polishers then this will be solid choice.

    • @DavidTillyer
      @DavidTillyer 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@ForensicDetailing definitely a selfish request on my part. They do now offer a drill shaped mini/detail polisher. No idea if it’s any good though.

    • @DistilledBison
      @DistilledBison 3 месяца назад

      @@DavidTillyer I used the Ryobi DA before, If you're looking to save the money then its a decent option to entertain especially because of the versatility of the one + platform. BUT you are going to sacrifice performance, stability, ergonomics, and a host of other key areas that brands like FLEX and RUPES are known for. Ryobi is a DIY brand that advertised using spinning coarse brushes on vehicles paint finishes, take their knowledge of detailing with a heavy grain of salt. That said, their mini detail polisher is a great tool and I use it quite frequently with my PXE.
