Can someone PLEASE explain to me why Dan Bell doesn't film another Dirty Room anymore. I think that was his best work! Also I miss Rick and Will with him too. 😢
adr was done years ago. the show was very expensive for me to produce. the numbers weren’t there so after 40 episodes i decided it was time to move on. i have no plans to revive the show nor would i do so if the opportunity arose. i appreciate the love for the show and the enthusiasm from the fans but i personally needed to move on. you can only do the same shtick over and over before you feel like offing yourself. i had reached that point with the show and knew when we shot the last episodes that i was done. i’m much happier doing what i do now.
@DanBellFilmIt Oh I didn't know that, I'm glad you are in a better place now. Do you think there will be any more shopping with Rick? Those videos are funny too. I miss him appearing in your videos.
Was having a super stressful day, its nice to just unplug for a minute and watch some Dan Bell. Thanks for always being there for us when we need a little escape.
Hello. I clicked your Blackhorse Pike video and it led me here. I honestly thought I was the only human who loved this sleaze underbelly aesthetic. I didn’t even have the words for it as a child. I felt it when I went to South of the border in South Carolina. It’s a tourist trap on the side of a freeway that was open 24 hours. Going there on a summer night as a child was so cool. I feel the same about truck stops, especially in the desert. So cool to see someone else appreciates this type of vibe and films it! I never knew what drew me to it, but I’m a creative and perhaps that’s why. You’d probably like the scene from the show pose on here at the peep show. You can find it if you search pose private dancer as that’s the song that plays. It’s definitely the same type of sleaze aesthetic! I find myself wanting to go back to the 90s. I miss it so much! Pre social media etc! ❤
I remember going to South of the Border as a kid in the early 90s & I thought it was THE coolest thing I’d ever seen! Stopped by there again on a trip to SC in the late 2010s, and uhhh…it definitely felt less majestic this time around😭😂 I grew up in a really seedy, abandoned city, so unfortunately, I can’t say I really enjoy visiting places like this in real life, but watching OTHER people do it is still entertaining lol

Wow,I just found your channel and glad I did! I am originally from Egg Harbor City NJ( now live in Alabama)but you went through my town and the motel I used to stay in for 3 years after losing my husband. It was so nice to see that footage. Now I can show everyone where I was living. Thank you Dan for bringing me back.
Finally someone who tells it like it is. I've been going to Atlantic City since I turned legal gambling age and during my degeneracy days in my 20s of hustling and sharking I stayed at these motels. One thing's for sure you'll always get prostitutes knocking at your door at 3am and you will contract some sort of disease if you go barefoot. Kudos, Mr Bell. Great video.
Dan literally has no fear it is crazy. Been a follower for years and always love seeing new videos. I have even gone back and watched a few older ones recently just for fun!

Dan, if you’re ever up by Connecticut, visit the Berlin Turnpike! Lots of period motels that are linked with human trafficking. Sad, but morbidly interesting.
The name for those 'dome' buildings is a bowstring truss building. It was developed from military construction (quonset huts). It enabled you to enclose a big interior space without a lot of internal supporting columns. Grocery stores, yeah but also things like bowling alleys and indoor roller skating.
At 3:51 when you get to the Green Acres Motel, my immediate thought was 'Oh this actually looks well-kept and quite charming' [Edit] and then of course it goes downhill fast!

But just by watching your videos (this is for those who live in bubbles), one would soon come to realize that there is some WILD ASS SHIT OUT IN THE WORLD! For a while as a kid/teen I had to live in hotels basically.. It was just my brother and I. Hes 15 years older than me and he became my guardian.. Honestly could not ask for a better brother.. He worked his ass off trying to make things better for me but his body basically fell apart due to some really nasty injuries to his knee and other places. ( The knee being the worst one. ) ... So I know what its like to be at that stage where you are almost homeless. We honestly would have been homeless a few times if we did not get help from friends. I also worked even though technically speaking it was not legal due to my age.. But as the old saying goes.. When there is a will there is a way. Now I basically take care of my brother.. My body is not the best anymore either though, but I do what I can. ( I have had over 7 surgeries and I have some permanent damage done to my body so there are things I can no longer do. )
Out of All the motels you went through, most were average cheap nightlies n reasonable weekly rates. I used to manage 2 motels just like those in Ohio n that's just what they provided. We still had inspections w standards to keep up, n I did all the work, cleaning rooms, laundry, buying supplies, securing smoke alarm batteries, providing fresh coffee 24/7 for my guests n checking them in n checking them out!!! I also handled the reservations, cuz one of our motels was just outside of Six Flags Water Park n Resort n it was cheaper for families to rent our rooms n have more money to spend at the parks, cuz they were not in the room all day or night except to sleep, shower n go back to the park, n ALL the little motels were very popular for that system so we had solid bookings n reservations!!! The Luxury Inn with the toilet on the sidewalk was the epitome of tweaker motels!!! The others were ok. Pinecrest Inn was too dark!!! Beware of unlit places!!! I sm 67 n a female n have lived in these type places for over 40 yrs on n off!!!
My friends and i used to drife from queens, nyc to Atlantic City and i think i have stayed at just about all of these skeezy hotels right outside of AC. Good times, looking back not the best decisions.
These old huge motels tell a story about how well this country was doing in the 70's before demaloids sold all our factories to china after they signed NAFTA into law, You could hear a sucking sound as our countries livelihood was packed up and shipoed over seas, leaving a wake of abandoned factories and boarded up store fronts along every main street in America, all replaced by a walmart full of china goods on the outskirts of town. We have never recovered from NAFTA and the damages it caused .
When I lived in rural PA (along RT 40) a neighbor had several of those cabins on his property. He told me back in the day his mother rented them out to long haul truckers and hunters.
Hahaha no crack heads were harmed making this but got alot of them bugging out about the random truck pulling into to motel lot in the middle of the night
Most the little roadside motels around me were either torn down years ago and are now Dollar Generals or Starbucks, LOL. A few others are still around but are apartments. I deliver for Amazon and have stops at a few of them all the time, and it's usually the same customers so I know they're permanent residents.
You probably gave like 6 witness protection snitches panic attacks just by slowly driving through the parking lots of those hotels. Believe it or not, a lot of AC used to be worse once upon a time. There were more rowhouses that sat largely abandoned - like around Ohio Ave. They got torn down and became shops and medical plazas and the like, either that or they're lots still vacant today. I find AC beautiful - from a distance.
Ive def stayed in one of those motels at 17:55 in my early 20s. It was $30 a night. Way cheaper for us than staying in AC. Then we would hang around the casinos hoping they would give us free drinks
I can’t even convey how fucking happy I am to see Dan Bell vids on my feed. LOVE YOU DAN!! You are so talented and I can’t wait to see everything you have coming!
I've never seen a place called "Sunrise Motel" that didn't look shady as hell. Also, you scoff at Country Inn & Suites, but I had the sketchiest experience at one of those in North Carolina. My sister, our senior citizen mom, my preteen niece, and I all witnessed a woman in a niqab and abaya banging some dude against a car in the parking lot. We could hear them even after we went inside because they were RIGHT OUTSIDE OUR WINDOW. Anyway, if you ever want to drive around the sketchier parts of Virginia Beach or Norfolk (let's be real, all of Norfolk is sketchy), I can show you all my old haunts.
Got stuck living and working in a gross old one. Kind of like that creepy dark blue one but dark green. Probably could have been on Another Dirty Room lol
The first set of stores by the goodwill is my home town. The store down from the goodwill was a Bradlees closed for decades and the Goodwill was a supermarket where we used to shop in the late 70s. The original Webers had waiters on rollerskates.
My brother married a girl, since divorced, whose family owned the Webber’s in Brooklawn all the way up until it closed. They let it go to hell. Never sank any money into it. It’s abandoned now.
I'm not a Casino person, but i don't mind going like once a year. Went with my bf to the Golden Nugget, it was fun. The area surrounding...not so much 😅
Everything looks nice up in that area. Like there still jibs and money up in that part of America. In my section of northern NY, all the motels are borded up and closed down, been like that for years. All the business are run down and boarded up as well
The sketchiest motel I ever seen was - of all places - in North Ft Meyers, Florida. The Howard Johnsons, or at least it was when I stayed there. You had multiple rooms cordoned off with police tape, their doors having been clearly smashed in. Unmarked cop cars frequently prowling the parking lot. Sketchy dudes swinging the door open, darting their heads back and forth, and then slamming the door shut again. I was on acid when I stayed there, me and a few friends just wanted to rent a place we could trip and chill out. We got so much more than we bargained for. The place was flanked by a canal on like three sides, with very dense brush inbetween the property and the canal, and 12 foot high chainlink fence between the brush and the lot. Only one entrance/exit. We got really paranoid, thought the whole thing was some kind of police-run trap. Ended up taking the hour long drive back from there rather than stay overnight. It was somehow safer to drive in the throes of an acid trip than stay there - we were attracting an outsized amount of attention. They had vending machines that spat out full-sized cans of coke for ONE DOLLAR which was pretty sweet, though.
It amazes me how some of the signs at these places would advertise certain premiums over their competitors to try and lure guests in. Like Free HBO, Color TV, Air Conditioning etc. It was definitely a different time then. I can still remember when so many of them had a vacancy sign out front.
Air Conditioning is a huge deal, especially if you have children. Can't be keeping the window open at creepy hotel and as you can see the humidity is outrageous down there.
I live outside Atlantic City further south towards sea isle and they just had a huge raid at the Borgata yesterday. The amount of cops was insane 😂 You should head down to wildwood next time you’re in the area and check out the old neon motels, you’d really dig em! Also storybook land is mostly for kids, I took many treacherous school field trips there 😂😂😂
@@dee8076 they got an anonymous call from a guy claiming he had guns and explosives so they evacuated everyone and searched, didn’t find anything and let everyone back in. They’re trying to figure out who it was that did it
It looks like some "interesting" stuff goes down there in those back alley motels, Dan but the size of them reminds me of the tiny house movement that is growing a fair bit, in Australia. Hope you are well 🤗 ❤️
Hey Dan, I love your videos!! I heard you ask "How do I get rid of that" referring to the windshield: You can buff the windshield fog off with just a chamois (natural or synthetic). You don't need Windex for this, just a chamois. It may take some elbow grease to get the layer off but I assure you, it will keep the inside of your glass clean of fog for much longer even when faced with some humidity. Xo
Cool content. Funny when i clicked on the video about AC i didnt expect that late in video you must of driven past my house. You had to of drove past Genes Nursery bout .5 mile before you inspected Pine Crust pizza/motel. Ya should actually do some content on like back area hidden communities/developments that nobody even knows they exist unless you happen to reside there. Theres alot of cool places like that here in south jersey. Literally right off the Black Horse Pike but nobody ever has reason to turn off the pike 95% of the time in most areas.
Dan, Route 30 is the White Horse Pike. Next time you should take Route 168 which is the Black Horse Pike. Not as many motels but definitely more older and creepy looking ones! Both Pikes go right into Atlantic City.
I like it a lot better when you just drive by these crappy hotels/motels. I get a pretty good idea of what the rooms probably look like based on how crappy the outside looks! I can’t handle the dirty room vlogs
LOVED this video Dan! You were so close to where I live in the beginning, I was like omg!! I recognize that! 😂 Absolutely loved the way the foggy sky looked during the shots right before you got into AC.
I live in southern NJ but it’s been quite a while I’ve made the a trip down RT30 towards Atlantic City. It’s amazing to me to see that some of these places are still open. I’ve never stayed at any of them because it’s just easier, and safer, to drive home to sleep. RT40/322 is another road that has more dive motels than I realized. The Pine Crest used to have a lot of people living there week to week. It looks like they’ve cleaned up their act. Nice job driving on the grass 🤣🤣.
You were in Stratford where the Webbers and the thrift store are. Next door to the thrift store used to be a Bradlees. The thrift store if I remember right was an old Acme or Path Mark. The empty lot out by the White horse pike there use to have a single screen movie theater that was turned into a Chinese restaurant then was knocked down.
Gotta say...good job Sir. I've visited all of those places you hit going East on 30. The Budget Inn was the Bo-Bet Motel (Knight Inn) when I was a kid.

Why is 40 mins of Dan Bell creeping around depressing motels more compelling than starting a new Netflix series?? Good work Sir 👌
Dan talking about all these sketchy places and people while they look out and say “what’s this weirdo doing out in the parking lot” 😂
They're as scared of him as he is of them haha

Also storybook land is mostly for kids, I took many treacherous school field trips there 😂😂😂
What??? Do you know what they were looking for at the Botgata??
@@dee8076 they got an anonymous call from a guy claiming he had guns and explosives so they evacuated everyone and searched, didn’t find anything and let everyone back in. They’re trying to figure out who it was that did it
@@hallowsevehorror wow!! I did not hear about that one!
It looks like some "interesting" stuff goes down there in those back alley motels, Dan but the size of them reminds me of the tiny house movement that is growing a fair bit, in Australia. Hope you are well 🤗 ❤️
all kinds of unimaginable things occur in those rooms. trust and believe. (on a lighter note HI MATE!)
Ohh hear a crackling 😮 love the night shots
Hey Dan, I love your videos!! I heard you ask "How do I get rid of that" referring to the windshield: You can buff the windshield fog off with just a chamois (natural or synthetic). You don't need Windex for this, just a chamois. It may take some elbow grease to get the layer off but I assure you, it will keep the inside of your glass clean of fog for much longer even when faced with some humidity. Xo
Omg we went to Webers all the time as kids ! One of my favorite buildings still . A lot of memories flood back watching this
Yes ! a pleasant surprise morning upload !
Very cool Dan love ya buddy
Both Pikes go right into Atlantic City.
he's on the Black Horse Pike in this video. Pine Crest/Pine Crust is on the bhp
@@lolmapscone oops you’re right!! He even drove past Storybook Land. NVM!
Wow what a downpour!
it was crazy!!
Such great time capsules! I’m guessing some of these started life as national chains
I think the 'Sunrise Motel' is where I stayed in 1982. Pretty positive. It was a dump then but at 4 am the show in town.
19:44 - Dan do you mean "The Syr-INN-ge"?
Uploaded less than 12 minutes ago & doesn't have 100 likes!!??
Dan has fallen off!!
Jk, much love from Colorado
Dan you literally rode past my front door as I watch this at 5am 😂. So weird
At 6:21 the Budget Inn and Suites looks like the building used to be a pit bbq restaurant. 😁👍
I grew up in Monterey Ca and grocery stores with that arch roof design were Safeway brand (Kroger on the eastern half of the US)
23:15 You know someone's used that toilet during the time it's been left outside.
💩🚽😂
Don’t judge me.
