So sad to think that she passed away four months later. She is so charming and full of fun and ambition here. Bless you Hattie, you were such a talent.
Thanks so much for posting this gem. I loved Hattie's warm personality in tv and film as a child . There was something truly magical about her: no wonder the public loved her. She's charming and diplomatic here and though she wasn't well, she was cheerful and courageous. A marvellous lady. 🌻
Adore Hattie so much, just a beautiful person inside and out. Would loved to have met her and spent sometime with her having a coffee and a chat ❤
This is a real gem - a very rare interview with Hattie. She seems very much the warm, kind and loveable lady that Kenneth Williams and others described with deep affection. Very much looking forward to seeing your future uploads!
What a lovely, lovely lady and such a fine actor. I think she probably typecast herself when talking about why she didn't or couldn't do more straight rather than comedy material. A real pity. I would liked to have seen the double act with Joan Sims. Sadly it wasn't to be.
Thanks for uploading.
She was lovely. Such a class act.
A very special interview, for a number of reasons. What a shame she never got to do a straight role or a two-woman show with Joan. Tony Bilbow was clearly very fond of Hattie.
Tony Bilbow is still alive as of October 2024 aged 92.
Actually 96 not 92.
They do say comedy is harder than straight roles. So maybe the reluctance to cast her in straight acting was a compliment!
Don’t suppose anyone knows where this was filmed in Newcastle.
But Claire Davenport was a fat lady and she had serious roles in Doctor Who, Shoulder to Shoulder, and the Elephant Man.
The seating wasn’t very complimentary to say the least…most uncomfortable for her and to watch …🤷🏼♂️😳
Tony Bilbow was a good film critic but unfortunately not a gifted interviewer and had zero chemistry with his guests on this show. It's also a shame the film clips go on for far too long, then end in a pregnant silence.
Nothing positive to say at all?
@@timelordvictorious Yes - Hattie was delightful, as always
