The blanks look good but the guides don't. Sonik should have gone for Minima 4 or something similar at that price point. A cork handle would have been another option but the shrink-wrap and duplon handles are cheaper so there you have it.
I hope that they're better than the sk4 xtrs that I used to have. Wappy as anything. Didn't keep them long. Would need to have a proper good look at these if I was to think about having some.
@@nickwatson6001 hi Thanks for your reply , that's good to hear , coz I've got the sk4 xtr (brilliant rods) and just upgraded to the 13ft Tournos XD with the tournos GS reels, can't wait to give them a go, overall they are good rods ? Casting better and playing fish better than the XTRs?
Don't know about these rods, but the sonik stanz banksticks are really crappy. Bought 6 and with 4 of them the lockingsystem just slides of the bottom end.
Nope, £200 for a sonik rod. No thanks, when there’s free spirits, Harrison, daiwa and shimano etc… out there which are far better looking rods, better quality and more reliable
So what's the difference between a £200 sonik rod and a Harrison / free spirit or a century rod? Don't tell me because the others are custom made because they ain't, unless you go to someone like Kevin baines at anglers workshop your not getting a custom made rod, if you buy any of the rods mentioned above your getting a shop assembled rod and that where it ends! Just the same blank and, reel seats and rings that's available to everyone else put in the same place as everyone else just with your name on! That is not custom, and guess what? Your so called £300 a piece "custom" rods won't have any warranty unlike the soniks, ok company's like sonik talk absolute bull about the latest carbon tech, carbon technology hasn't really evolved that much in the last 10 years nevermind 12 months, people think because it has a nice carbon wrap finish it's some.ground breaking tech, bullshit baffles brains, I don't care who makes a rod and what price it is, if it does the job and does it well, I shall buy it, if it's cheaper then that's just a bonus , but for all you tackle tarts that buy because it's in the magazines or all top boys use these rods, put it simple, your the idiots here
I honestly think they've priced themselves out of the market.
Sonik rods at £200+???
No chance!!!
Just my opinion 👍
I have the £50 sonik Vader x rods and I'm very happy with them 200 is way to much
Add a little more and you can buy top quality rods….
And what's better than that rod, at the same specs mate???
liked the review. i especially liked how you casted with an pva bag to the island. really practical test.
This rod it's ok for carpcasting competition ???
Thanks 🙏👍
Cork handle versions?
Great review Tom. Good to see you on this channel more, keep up the top work 😎👍

I know this comment is over a year ago , I have the XTR and I have upgraded to the XD , what did you do in the end ? Did you get the XD ?
@@KarimCarper hi, yes I did. And I have to say, for the money, they're pretty good. Much better than the old XTR's I used to have! 👍

@@KarimCarper Yes they are. Better all round in my opinion. Rod technology has come on a long way since I bought the XTR4's. I have the 12 foots. 👍
@@nickwatson6001 thanks for this , excited to take it on the bank , did you sell your XTRs ?
It's the last 6 to 8 inches 🧐

Same as the Sonik stanz rubber butt grips they are really crap. Mine snapped off the first time I used them!
@@christopherbowsher9552 I used sonik stanz rubber rod grips since they came out can’t fault them

How does a sonic rod become a sex object ?
As you cast out it vibrates....now thats sexy!!!!!
It has a vibrating handle.....now thats sexy!!!!
