Why not doing an interview with one of your clients and share their story,? Would be interesting to hear their struggles and how they overcame them. Make it about the challenges, failures and successes of an up and coming artist.
the truth is that everyone want to see the results straight away by being very impatient... it takes time and dedication... I find people are too soft these days, the first no or first criticism they take it personal or start to have self doubt. Focus on the journey, not the destination 😀
Great info girl. I can add that a big issue with marketing can be in not knowing the correct demographic to market to (especially when using paid ads). Taking 6 months to try all kinds of ads (pictures and videos, using different songs, and targeting different audiences) will be time well spent for any artist. And being patient with your learning curve is very important. Keep up the good work, and thanks for sharing!
Boom! another gem right here. The punch line at the end is the key, well done BURTISMO! Know what? I've been out of socials for about 6 months or more because of this exactly, as artists getting our shit done exactly the way we want it to be delivered to the world could be a lifetime thing. I was feeling overwhelmed about wanting to freaking hit every social and every streaming platform, one day I realized that my craft was not ready yet, also I realized that I was not actually aware of how everything works out there (marketing) I honestly needed a bit more time to get closer to what I had in mind for my brand, and I've been improving as hell, Im actually going back to business stronger than ever next year... but hey, don't get me wrong, one thing is to endlessly procrastinate and one thing is to be patient, don't get confused, you will never stop learning and improving till the day you die, thats a fact and its what is life about, but be honest to yourself, find your weaknesses and your strengths and build from there, eventually you will piggy bank that bump and you will say "Holly crap! Im good at this shit" trust me, as BURTISMO said Patience is Key.
You're so right about ads, people think because they pay they MUST get engagement but running ads myself I realised there are posts that just perform much better and it's worth promoting them for a longer period of time. My short cover of "Thank You" by Led Zeppelin got me 100+ new followers, 4.5k views, 208 likes, 33 saves, 31 comments, all in a week with like $35 budget, and it's a freaking cover! 😅🤦♂️ One of my earlier promotions got me like 5 followers at the same price, so yeah there can be a dramatic difference based on the content.
I am learning so much from these videos! Patience is 100% key! It's so easy to get complacent but you have to keep improving and working on yourself. Thank you for these videos, Amy Jo x

I really really loved this video. Its honest and really helpful. I have a lot of issues with releasing music and i'm caught up in the"it has to be just right" mentality, and I know that that is whats stopping shit from happening. I've watched tons and tons of music marketing videos and Gary Vee videos and yours was really wonderful. So wonderful that I honestly feel like I know what to do now and I feel really inspired to do it. Thank you so much
There's definitely a balance to strike between "wanting it just right" and finishing stuff. The vast majority of new music I hear is very so-so. They should definitely up their game. But at the same time, if you are consistently spending months on tracks rather than weeks, it's time to loosen up a little.
I like a lot of videos that you guys post. They are informative and helpful. The title of this video though upsets me. I deal with suicidal and depressive thoughts on a daily basis. I like your videos, but I recommend that you stop posting videos with titles like that in the description or picture cover of the video. Thank you.

I'm just wondering what do you think is the minimum amount of money an artist needs to save to release a successful EP? I want to include money for promotions, 2-3 music videos, studio and band etc. Also do you think it's worth an artist releasing an EP when they only have about 1000 followers on instagram and not a huge fan base? I have only been uploading covers on my insta and official youtube channel etc but I am saving my original music to be released when I have them finished in the studio. Do you think I should be less precious and just upload some raw acoustic versions of my original music before i record them professionally in a studio or should I wait until they are completely brought to their best level in the studio? Thanks so much for the video.

I've been in the music business since 1985. I've been signed to major labels, done all kinds of deals, have put lots of promotions and tours together, worked with Steve Jobs, Richard Branson, Universal, Sony and countless others and I can tell with with certainty that only a very very few bands have the knowledge or objectivity to know if they're any good. They all think they're amazing. The last people to consult if a band is any good is the band themselves. They don't know how to write, they don't know that writing is a learned skill, they just don't fucking have a clue, and they don't know that they don't know. "But all our friends tell us we're amazing". If the public isn't responding its because the writing sucks and probably the production and everything else. Very hard lesson to teach. Most never get it. ALL successful artists agree with the above. Ask them.
How do we explain songs on commercial radio that a 2 year old could have written? The brutal truth is mumble rap isn't exactly mins blowing stuff. Yet it sells doesn't it. Quality? Meh. Very subjective

Love it. Question; all this artists which have smart links usually under their youtube music video (artist).ink.to how come almost all have the ink.to domain? ive found the website which does that for like 100 pounds a year, but 1. is this more a thing their labels set up for them and just send them a link to paste? 2. I feel i wanna register now just to get my domain name before another artist with the same name takes it before me. Should I do it? :)
1. They get it from the labels. I recommend using feature.fm It’s got almost all the same features and looks great. 2. Yes!! Do it now! The shorter, the better. Vision.com would be the best :)
I make music in my bedroom everyday for a lot of time and I do not go out as much or travel. I see most of the other artists post stories or posts about travelling or some place they're going to or some expensive food. I know that I can't travel that much or make consistent music content in that frequency since I'm also working during day. Please suggest some tips where I can create content on social media for people in my position.
@Burstimo Thoughts on whether to release a single, a small list of tracks, or the full-album to start? (I'm just finishing up my album, but I am anxious to get some tracks out there.) Should I wait until the album is complete, so nothing is rushed? Or wet the whistle a bit, by releasing a strong track as a single, first?
@@Burstimo Thanks for the quick reply. I appreciate the advice. How long after the single release before I should drop the entire album, in your opinion?
Just wondering why a musician should take the tips from YOU? Not to discredit you, but I don’t know much about you or what you are/do. I’m asking to know if you are a credible source on these kinds of things.
What a joke It Is when I see these youtubers say that your music is not good enough as a reason for not becoming famous and a bit hit as ir we were such a stupid audience as to not notice the kind of crap being played on all the major playlists worldwide.
Right !!! We'll see if they told you the truth then services like these would go out of business. The marketing isn't working because it's oversaturated, full of scams , and everyone is trying to do the exact same thing. There is no universal marketing plan that works with music. How come there are very successful mid level artists and bands with small streaming numbers that sell out thousand person shows all over the country that don't have to spam Facebook pages, create content about how to promote music, and buying playlist spots? Because these things don't actually translate to real world success.
Hey, 2 Weeks ago i got placed in a bot playlist and pushed me 40k Streams on my Song who made actually 10k in one week and now my algorithm is broken... do it disappear after a time and how long will it be? im very sad about this and i reported the playlist.
@@Burstimo i paid for a playlist placement and they told me there many streams and i think after the placement they put me into the bot playlist for streams but dont really know
what if you know your music is good but it's not something that belongs on radio or playlists and you aren't the type of artist to shine a spotlight on their personal life and talk about themselves on the internet? I'm not the product, the music is
I love your point. Way too much focus these days on "content creation". It's much like slipping in your originals while playing 90 % covers. A couple years go by and you realize you are a cover band playing to drunks. Same lesson here. Doing everything other than music in the hopes to bring light to the music and you will wake up and realize you are a content creator. Everyone may not agree but I see it happen all the time.

Hi.. Can u make video about how an independent Indian artist (music producer) can make money from his song by releasing it in india.... In india music industry works a bit different... Revenue generation from song is a bit tricky to understand
girl, that is a very well scripted and timed BS. what a structure! its never the music's fault. its the market. its the tools, its the fans! but we can see whats going on here. Stop fooling people reassuring there's nothing wrong with their music, its just a cheap strategy. But hey, it works and it sells how-tos! :)

100% Tips working. The ones im able to do anyways. XD
Glad to hear they're working!
great tips 🙏🏾
Love it. Question; all this artists which have smart links usually under their youtube music video (artist).ink.to how come almost all have the ink.to domain? ive found the website which does that for like 100 pounds a year, but
1. is this more a thing their labels set up for them and just send them a link to paste?
Will you do one about superlinks and how to use them?
I make music in my bedroom everyday for a lot of time and I do not go out as much or travel. I see most of the other artists post stories or posts about travelling or some place they're going to or some expensive food. I know that I can't travel that much or make consistent music content in that frequency since I'm also working during day. Please suggest some tips where I can create content on social media for people in my position.
Show the creation process then!

@@Burstimo Awesome, thanks! You guys are great.
Just wondering why a musician should take the tips from YOU? Not to discredit you, but I don’t know much about you or what you are/do. I’m asking to know if you are a credible source on these kinds of things.

Big love!
Greaaaaaat video
@@robertojefferson3428 exactly
so is it stiil totall wast of money?
Hey, 2 Weeks ago i got placed in a bot playlist and pushed me 40k Streams on my Song who made actually 10k in one week and now my algorithm is broken... do it disappear after a time and how long will it be? im very sad about this and i reported the playlist.
Sorry to hear about this! There's no specific timeline on this but focus on getting real streams now to drown out those fake playlists
Murc E. Did you use PlaylistPush, Submithub or something else?
@@Burstimo i paid for a playlist placement and they told me there many streams and i think after the placement they put me into the bot playlist for streams but dont really know
what if you know your music is good but it's not something that belongs on radio or playlists and you aren't the type of artist to shine a spotlight on their personal life and talk about themselves on the internet? I'm not the product, the music is
Then promote it that way
I love your point.
How does an artist go about working with you ? Especially a music platform like a collective

good i'm not crazy also awesome tips
Educational, to the point, and is stating truthful facts on how the music industry works in today’s world, fascinating.
Top work!!
I love a lot of the videos that you guys post. They are informative and helpful. The title of this video though upsets me. I deal with suicidal and depressive thoughts on a daily basis. It makes me feel really suicidal whenever I see titles of RUclips videos with words such as "brutal truth," "hard truth," "the truth hurt, "sad truth." I'm probably not the only one who feels this way. I like your videos, but I recommend that you stop posting videos with titles like that in the description or picture cover of the video. I recommend changing the picture. This is not at all meant to offend or attack, but the expression on your face looks like you don't care. I'm sorry if what I say upsets. Thank you.

Hi.. Can u make video about how an independent Indian artist (music producer) can make money from his song by releasing it in india.... In india music industry works a bit different... Revenue generation from song is a bit tricky to understand
We don't work with many Indian artists so won't be able to add much value there unfortunately
How do u get on an established blog?
Link in the description!
How do you market your own content?
Help me with your email address
girl, that is a very well scripted and timed BS. what a structure! its never the music's fault. its the market. its the tools, its the fans! but we can see whats going on here. Stop fooling people reassuring there's nothing wrong with their music, its just a cheap strategy. But hey, it works and it sells how-tos! :)
This chick is crazy beautiful
i want u to be my manageeeer omg
Not managers but a marketing agency! Feel free to drop us a line :)
@@Burstimo i have tried doing the influencers thing but it didn't work very well. A friend of mine (who is an influencer manager) told me that it all works contacting the agencies, or at least in Spain and France :(
Please dont make me unsubscribe because you dont make timestamps....i dont want to do that but if i cant watch your videos for that reason i think its not a well reason to be subrscribe here :(
I do not agree with 100%. I see a lot of very stupid videos gaining milions of views while at the same time valuable content does not interest anybody. Sad but true.
You might think it's stupid but it's adding value to someone, even if that value is entertainment
@@Burstimo So then I think there is a crisis of values in this World.
There is a different role for different forms of content and some people just like light hearted content. Good music is subjective but there is a basic standard
you're actually so beautiful, i just had to let you know
