    Sleeping is not just going to bed and lying down. To go to sleep and truly give yourself is to let go of everything from the mind and not carry mental loads and emotions that are encountered that do not allow to relax the body and mind.     Once I saw a study (by The Economist) saying that sleeping less that 7 hours per day can be really damaging!
    Than I decided to not ever sleep again less that 7 or 7:30 hours!. 😴

      That’s just wrong. Waking up at the end of the archadian rhythm is the best thing for yourself. Every 90 minute cycle, so in practical terms that would mean 6 or 7:30 hours every night

      Actually 6 hours is enough because of circadian rhythm (you can look it up later).
      But 8 is better....
      7 or 7 30 hours of sleep is non-ideal accordingly to circadian rhythm, it probably works for you because of placebo effect (which again is fine).
      But try either 6 or 8 hours😊

    7.5 hrs for me is Minimal effective dose. If I drop below that productivity tends to decline, especially if you are active you can really tell when your in the gym. The optimal amount I think is (8-9 hrs)

    As a fellow neurodivergent i can fully agree with Elon Musk. Too few sleep makes you inefficient and is counterproductive. To be mentally stable i found that i also need 6.5-7 hours of sleep. When i sleep too few i can be mentally very tired. When i sleep too much, im feeling "sleep drunk" and too lazy.

    I have a very good friend who was in a sleep study in the army. They would put them into 10 minutes of REM sleep a day and then wake them up. She said she felt totally refreshed and did this for months

    There’s a big difference between sleep and rest. You can rest for a couple hours and be productive the next day you can sleep and it not be restful for 8 to 10 hours and still wake up tired/cranky.

      Disagree. If u wake up cranky the next day, it means u didnt get enough sleep or you didnt sleep properly.
      Edit: this is the scientific proven fact. The only other reason you can still be tired while still sleeping the night before is if you drink alcohol. Alcohol disrupts your sleep cycle, even if u think u slept from drinking alcohol, u actually didnt. Another scientific proven fact.

    Sometimes your body only wants to sleep 4 sometimes it wants 9 1/2. It'll adjust itself on its own if you cut out or reduce the stressors and unnecessary stuff.

    Yes I remember when I was going through quite a challenge I would work 56 hours which included physical work and start the 56 hours again. 6 hours was the magical number and it was a solid sleep Of course that was when I was in my 60s

    Engineering student married with kids; I’ve absolutely realized the importance of sleep. If I don’t have my assignments done or haven’t gotten as much done as I’d like, I’ll take the L on the grade (unless it’s not accepted late) and go to bed and work on it the next day.
    Especially for tests, the later it gets, the more difficult the concepts are to understand. I was studying for a calculus test with my friend a quarter or two ago and it was around 11:00 (test was the next day). Nothing was making any sense. I went to bed, woke up a little earlier, and boom: I could understand it.

      It is true that the older I have gotten the less sleep I needed. As a teen, I seemed to need more sleep. After 40, I just could get by with six hours. Now I love sleeping and I’m over 60.

    Its true sleeping less or more both affects cognitive abilities directly. I used to sleep more but then I found out slowly slowly I cannot stay awake for even some hours.
    It took me much time to get out of this and make my sleep schedule upto 6 hrs max daily

    This is correct. Sleep repairs body and mind. Often if you have a problem or issue or something plaguong you you cant solve. Sleep will help solve it for you and in the morning you probably will have the answer. 😊

    6.5 hrs is all I need. When I was driving a truck for a living I used to try to get 8hrs. Now 6.5 is great.

      @@Gomu_1 Life can give you circumstances where you don't get more than 3-4 hours of sleep for months or even years. Ask any parent, they'll tell you lol. Or people who withdraw from benzos they often can't sleep for weeks. It fries your brain driving you to the edge of sanity. Sleep in itself is not the most important thing for health, contrary to popular belief. Rest is key
      That is what I mean with "experienced absolutely nothing". I had to learn this too the past couple years.

    I tried sleeping without an alarm for about a month and I would sleep 7-11 hours and I would wake up really cold and tired. Now I sleep 5hours and take around 3-6 20mins naps so I get around 6-7 hours of sleep. It feels much easier to get out of bed straight away after a nap and do tasks I need to do, however it's harder to do tasks for multiple hours. I still prefer the 6 hours of sleep and it may sound strange but sometimes I feel tired and it makes it easier for me to concentrate because I can't focus on anything else. I prefer 6-7 hours but I probably wouldn't recommend it.

    6.5-7 hrs is the sweet spot for me. I can do multiple nights of 6 hrs if I need to. I can only do 4-5 hrs as a one off here and there. My brain won't understand things very well, I'll be grumpy, and exhausted the entire day if I do

    Too much sleep actually makes me feel dehydrated and ill, I can only sleep for a max of 5 or 6 hours at a time. I think that the idea that we need 8 hours of sleep is just a rough guideline or maybe even a myth.
    Plus as someone with adhd going to bed at a normal time is too boring for me, I get too many good ideas at night to sleep😅
    Did you know that Leonardo da Vinci would only sleep for 2 hours a day when he was busy with his work? I think some peoples brains must work differently and have different sleep requirements since that would seem impossible to the average person.
    I think discipline and a healthy lifestyle play a big part in the amount of sleep you get, most of the people I know who over sleep regularly also eat very unhealthy and drink, etc, so maybe I need less sleep because my body has enough energy already? Who knows😅

    As a nightshift nurse, I slept on average 2 hours a night, my entire nursing career. I would try to take 1 day off and sleep 6 hours to get caught up

    I can only sleep for 5 hrs. It is driving me bonkers. Once I am awake I can not go back to sleep. Napping does not happen, I used to be able to sleep 8 to 10 hrs. Now? It’s like a switch cut on. Now I can only get 5 maybe 6hrs.

      Check your vitamen and minerals levels, some vitamen deficiencies can cause this, like vitamen D. Also, your hormone levels might not be balanced, you gotta see your doctor.
