While opening the bypass valve will purge part of the system there still can be water in the system that can freeze.

@@Matt-Olive-Digital What I meant was instead of using a drain line you can open the bypass valve to help drain the water in the system. Didn't mean to insinuate you can simply drain the system and not use anti-freeze for winterization
