Let's point out that Loona was totally ready to throw down with a freaking Demon Lord even when she went full Boss Mode and she only backed down when she saw how uncomfortable it was making Tex.
I loved that moment an kinda wish Blitz saw it cause I saw it as she was totally ready to throw hands with a demon lord to defend her dad who she thought was being talk down about an laughed at like how she felt.
Shows even more how much she cares an shows it when it's clear Bliz needs his daughter an not the angst with her calling him dad here.
I hope we.get more development of Loona and maybe she'll even make nice with Bee and be okay just being friends with Trex.
She was still worried and shocked about her turning into that form. Because when a deadly sin goes demon mode they make up the most powerful beings in hell.

So, short full explanation, this episode was essentially a victory lap for Viv. She got popularized by animating Kesha’s Die Young video and got Kesha to VA for Bee as well as write the song Cotton Candy, though the song was performed by Rochelle Diamante. Legal issues held up the episode for so long that season 2 aired several episodes before this one released.

Its so refreshing to see someone vibe with Bee this hard! So many reactors actually didn't liked Bee because they thought she was self-centered or had an ulterior motive for her niceness.
Its really nice to see someone appreciate Bee being a wholesome extrovert.
Well she does have an ulterior motive, she wants people to feel good because that makes her high, if people didn’t have a good time then it would “ruin her buzz” so she is truly the embodiment of an empath literally feeling others emotions
I think most of us were in angsty Loona mode thinking Bee would be mean. Then quickly realized "oh wait shit she's one of the cool party girls" rather than the toxic kind

Fun fact Bee is not only the prince of Gluttony but also of hellhounds. She's basically their patron, which is probably why she is the nicest of the Princes. She's the embodiment of over indulgence so she only cares about people having a good time so of course she'd be nice.
Its gotta suck tho because there's still places like the orphanage Loona was in. And Bee didn't do anything so I get why Loona was annoyed at her caring

So Bee-lzebub is actually a Deadly Sin like Ozzie, this time of gluttony. Hence, why she throws these elaborate parties and encourages everyone to overindulge, to "get high off their energy" as she says. Though, it's interesting how she only wants them to do it for fun, and gets concerned when Blitzø is clearly doing so as a coping mechanism. She knows how bad it is for one's mental health.

Cause for those who don't know, Kesha has been in a very long running lawsuit with her former producer and record label and the case was Finally setlled a few days before this episode was FINALLY released.
So Tex isn't just a cool guy. He is straight up dating the party goddess who is one of the 7 rulers of Hell. He is just that dude

Tex is a keeper.
Loona is so conditioned to verbal abuse and condescension, that can't tell when people are genuinely trying to be nice to her.
Plus, she gets pretty overwhelmed by all the positive energy, not having much friends as a child.
I really feel for her social anxiety here. I've been in a similar place myself
I relate to that way more than I'd care to admit. That's probably why I love her the most of the main cast.

Nearly 2 years for this ep to come out after ep 7. Legit gave up hope and was shocked when it came out
it was stuck in limbo be cause of lawsuits because of Ke$ha technically not allowed to make and sing songs for other people than the producers or something. so there had to be a song rewrite and a second singer to sing in place of Ke$ha. broke Vivien's hart.
One thing I REALLY like about Bee is that she only pushes people that WANT a push. She knows the people that come to her parties, she knows what they're there for, so she's happy to make tacos and drinks bigger and just shove them down their throats, BUT when it came to Loona, she only pushed the drink up a little bit. She didn't make it bigger, or force it on her, just a light encouragement. As you'll see later in the episode, she knows when it's TOO MUCH and someone should be stopped, which is kinda surprising since her whole thing is Gluttony, and that doesn't usually involve that kind of awareness and care.
She's an enabler, and unlike me who was made very self aware of myself and then able to read when I feel like I've given too much, she's learned to read others and knows when they've taken too much, which based off the party drugs comment, I'm wondering if her personal life isn't in shambles because she gives too much without consideration for herself.
Pretty sure Loona’s reaction to finding out Queen Bee is Vortex’s girlfriend, which is “she’s hot” is ALOT of people’s response

its not a question of Tex's strength of character, cuz he IS a good dude. Its more a question of social standards in hell. I don't know if Viv confirmed it or not, but the general consensus is that Hellhounds are actually beneath Imps in social standing. So for one of the Sins to be opening dating one is a big deal. But as we see, Bee is the no-fucks-given partygirl, and we love her for it
Beezlebub’s speaking voice is Kesha, but her singing voice is Rochelle Diamonte just to clarify since people tend to overlook the credits for who actual sings the songs

I love the very clear growth for some characters, like Loona showing more concern and care for Blitz over time. It's beautiful to see the way everyone grows and matures as they go through different experiences.
As a super introverted person who has met people like Alicia at parties my first thought when someone like that comes up to me is "Well I have to Indore this person till they get bored" but after the fact I appreciate the effort and often have fun
I had a boss like that at my first job. ALWAYS talking, knows everybody's families, always in your face.
I fully expected her to get on my nerves, but then I noticed that she genuinely noticed when I was having a shitty day and, instead of trying to shame it, would straightup tell me "No seriously, take 10, breathe, and come back fresh. Trust me, you need it. You'll be OK."
And I was jumpscared by that; she ACTUALLY cares that I'm doing OK. It was a weird, nice feeling I wasn't used to. Mrs. Takako was a real one.
Something that always hits me right in the Dad Mind is when you realize that Blitz and Loona live in a one bedroom apartment and the one bedroom is Loona's. It's just one of many things that show how Blitz is putting his everything into being a good dad.
Bee (Beelzebub) is a really cool character. Even though she looks hellhound-ish she's actually the Queen of Gluttony being the embodiment of that Sin - the same way Asmodeus (Ozzie) is Lust and Lucifier is Pride.
She's also a rare nice example of a positive and thoughtful extrovert which I feel you don't see a lot. She loves when people indulge, being Gluttony, but dislikes people doing it for self-destructive reasons like we see with Blitzo during this episode.
I also think the fact that she's dating a Hellhound despite being one of the Seven Deadly Sins shows that she doesn't give a damn about rankings considering Hellhounds are pretty much the bottom of the social ladder alongside Imps.
Not sure but my guess is that the ring of Gluttony having a lot of Hellhounds may be a reference to Dante's Inferno where the Third Ring, Gluttony, was guarded by Cerberus.
As for this episode - I may be misremembering but I remember it having some copyright nonsense (I think because of Kesha which is why she doesn't sing the song - but again may be wrong - I'm sure other comments know better) and it actually got released during season 2 out of order.
Something I'm not seeing mentioned is *why* Ke$ha was chosen to voice Bee. Ke$ha is one of Viv's idols; the video that helped skyrocket her popularity was set to Ke$ha's "Die Young," and was animated in a similar style, but with characters from Viv's own comic called ZooPhobia. After Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel hit it big, Viv reached out to Ke$ha to get her into an episode to voice as character, as a massive thank you for the inspiration to aim for the sky.
Wildly, Ke$ha got back to her. What happened after is mostly a series of issues with Ke$ha's publishing company; we'll likely never know exactly what happened, but I can guess. They didn't want Ke$ha singing, that much is clear. There was a huge legal kerfuffle, but in the end, Ke$ha voiced Bee and wrote Cotton Candy, which was sung by someone impersonating her voice. But this is a very rare situation; someone met their heroes and their hero was just as amazing as they thought. A shame it got so wrapped up in legal troubles; it took us nearly two years (I believe) to see the final product. But man, was it worth the wait. Queen Bee is *wonderful!*
A few other fun facts: Bee is the Queen of Gluttony, which isn't inherently terrible. She encourages people to indulge and have a good time, giving them good vibes to get good vibes. She is also the sole creator of Beelzijuice, the alcohol that Verosika is addicted to. The same alcohol that made that giant fish monster in Spring Breakers, too. Bee is a genuine party girl; she lives for the thrill of a great night, spent around fun people, having a good time in the face of a harsh world.
Now we have met two of the sins, Lust and Gluttony, who are both surprisingly chill

I love that the meangirl hellhound was literally describing "not fetch" when she said "that is *so* not fetch": with the "if you don't throw it, I'm not going after it".
This show's writing is so quick and clever and just fuckin' wonderful.
I love everything about Queen Bee here, from her design, to the fact that she is very nice despite seemingly being set up as the popular party girl, to the idea that she is a nonstandard representation of Gluttony as excess in ways other than just overeating, to her being a nonstandard representation of Beelzebub, to her being a literal embodiment of extroversion as she feeds on the energy in the room.
Blitzo was so emotionally fucked up that he outdrank the literal embodiment of gluttony herself
Not only that but had the embodiment of gluttony going "dude, I think he's fucked up, he might want to cut back some"
Remember to socialize your puppy from an early age~
Edit: I'd like to point out that it appears that Blitz has a one-bedroom apartment, and he gave that room to his adopted daughter. That is really sweet.
I do love picturing Bee being like those dogs at dog parks that help the shy dogs socialize a little.
My favorite part of the "not fetch" mean girls joke is that it's multi-layered. They are dogs, talking about someone not throwing the ball. So it literally is "not fetch", if they don't throw it.
It's such a clever little bit of writing. I liked "Oh... my dog." too, though that's just more pure jokey.
Notice how Blitz is scratched out of all the photos in his apartment...
Imagine the headspace you need to be in to want photos with the people you care about, but also hating what those photos look like with you in them, so you modify the photos so you don't have to look at yourself.
And all that was in place before last night with Stolas happened.
Seeing her with episode 7 was so sad since she was so genuinely sad so I’m glad she’s been feeling what a lot of us were feeling when they were comin out
You're right, this episode was like an emotional cleansing after that last episode, and She really seemed like she needed that.
What's interesting about Bee's song is that it basically talks about the whole concept of gluttony
"I'm what you want not what you need, I've got it all, a carnival, I bring you up I take you down…"
Or just the use of cotton candy with the song. There is like zero nutritional value to cotton candy. But it still tastes good and since its just fluffy sugar, its not filling at all. So you just wanna eat more.
The "Alejandro" reference was to Stolas' Hella Novela soap opera where Gabriella says, "why won't you love me, Alejandro?"
There seem to be an interesting thing about Bee's design: she only has two wings. Beelzebub is called the king of the flies, if I remember correctly, so your queen is not a bee.

Queen Bee(lzebub) is one of my favorite characters from s1
Sometimes that tone of voice can come off as condescending but its... its more because its similar to another tone of voice that socially awkward people are used to getting. And when you're already in a bad mood or not used to the positive variant or both its often hard to tell the difference. People in their early twenties and earlier might have trouble differentiating depending on their circumstances growing up, but people older than that or who have had more balanced experiences can recognize that its just a bad mood colouring their interactions. Loona is definitely in the former group since her best experience with that sort of affection is uh... Blitz. Who is not a good example in the slightest, but even if he was she has a very limited baseline for that.
You don't really have to worry about it because if someone thinks you're using that other tone of voice they will react accordingly (depending on their personality that can be anything from confrontational to cold shoulder) and everyone I've met who uses the positive version of that tone of voice will pretty quickly recognize what's going on and adjust course. They all seem to be extroverts so I assume that's just part of being able to interact with people well. I've met people like you before and even when I was younger they seemed pretty quick to adjust their speech when they realized I was taking issue.
I am so glad the “Alicia needs water” has become a trilogy. I want more already
As Queen of Gluttony, Bee owns the orphanage Loona grew up in.
Each episode just keeps adding another piece to the puzzle of trajedy and trauma that is Blitz's life. Like the fact that Blitz was pretty well known in the party circles. Not just that, but he's pretty popular when he parties, even going toe-to-toe with the Sin of Partying herself. It wasn't until this episode that I finally understood the HOW and WHY of his relationship with Verosika.
The problem is, Blitz uses drinking as a crutch to hold on to confidence when his self esteem is in ruins.😢

I can literally point out a single individual instance of being complemented from years ago when a random passing by girl said "nice shirt". That literal one second interaction still stays with me.
I love Bee so much! The pefect type of extroverted party person that legit just wants everyone to have a good time! I hope Loona warms up to her over time.
Also, in other trivia, very consistently throughout the IRL demonology lore that this team has been using as a basis for how Hell works, Beelzebub is one of the most powerful being in Hell, being ranked as one of the top three Demon Lords alongside Satan and Lucifer.
She picked the BEST episode to be buzzed. Queen B would be so happy you're having fun.
I don't know why it's taken me this long to notice this. Every time Bliz uses his pet name for her "Luney", Luna gets angry and growls. It's not because it's a nickname, it's because she used to be teased and called Lunatic Luna.
See, I get where Loona is coming from. Going to a party where you really don't know anyone, some people get way out of their comfort sphere and the reaction is to run away. Once Blitz is there she has someone with her she knows well and it brings her some confidence to stay. S'why I always try to have a wingman when I go somewhere, myself

Also, I'm sure, like 50 other people are gonna explain this, but here I go! As you know, Viv did an animated music video to "Die Young," and that video going viral is what really kickstarted her online animation career. This episode was meant to be a celebration of her and her team's progress (between this webseries and hazbin getting picked up by A24), and she wanted to do something truly special by including Kesha in the project.
Kesha was immediately on board bc stories like this don't really happen in real life, but she was also in the middle of a bitter legal process with her producer. So, the release of this episode had to be pushed back until after the court hearings. We were halfway through S2 when this dropped, and we were so shocked by Kesha's surprise inclusion. This is a truly monumental momemt for the indie animation community as a whole.
In the end, they couldn't get the license for Kesha to sing the songs, but she personally wrote them. This single episode right here exemplifies everything that an indie animator aspires to. This is a labor of love. This is art.
The beginning of the song cotton candy was sung by Kesha, but when the glitch happened it switched to the alternate singer, it was a way of kesha rebelling against her maneger person guy.
The reason that Bee was so concerned about Blitz is because her "realm" is about enjoyment to excess. She can tell he is drowning pain, not really enjoying himself.
Yeah, this episode was held off from release because Kesha’s legal dispute over her musical copyright. This was released 2 - 3 episodes into season 2.

When this episode premiered Queen Bee immediately became my 2nd favorite character, just barely behind Loona
YES beelzebub is my favourite character she’s so fun and colourful looking and she’s such a happy sweetheart like blitz basically insulted her which she is literally the princess of gluttony aka the demon embodiment of a seven deadly sin and she just took his insult AND she’s hot like because of her if someone asked if I like furries then I’d say yes because of her (being a furry I believe means dressing up as one which I will never do) and her song is one of my favourites
Cotton Candy is my emotional support song ngl. Between relating to Loona so hard, the song and animation, and Queen Bee I just vibe so hard with this ep.
Got to love that brief moment where Loona seems totally unfazed by by BEE transforming then she looks at Tex and is like "aw shit...."
Can we talk how for a brief moment Loona was willing to fight one of the most powerful beings in Hell, even though it was for a dumb reason?

IMP picking fights with two of the most powerful Demons in Hell on the same night. Blitzo and Moxxie causing problems at Asmodeus' club and Blitzo being so fucked up at Beelzebub's party that Loona nearly picks a fight with her over his honor.
yeah but the difference is that Moxxie wasn't intentionally seeking conflict - more like falling quiet and letting the demon lord do his thing - whereas Loona was actively gunning for it right off the bat. @@VegetaLF7
Fun fact if no one has mentioned it: The voice of Tex is also the voice of Asmodeus, James Monroe Iglehart. He is known for his Broadway rendition of the Genie from Aladdin

Bee is voiced by Ke$ha which is supposedly why this episode was aired partly into season 2. I don't know much more than that.
Loona seems to have two main modes: anger and "i want this random dude to like me". A lot of her actions are caused by her liking random guys. She goes back to the party only cause a hot guy was asking aboout her, and her animosity towards Bee is mostly driven by her being envious Tex was with her rather than anything Bee actually did, and let's not forget how she backed down from a fight with Bee BECAUSE she saw Tex wasn't happy with what was happening.
I unno jsut pointing it out iunno where I'm goig with this Ijsut woke up cut me some slack.
also I do love how Queen Bee isthus far the nicest of the rulers of hell. She rules over overindulgence, but seems to care about people's wellbeing, only wanting excess if people are actually having fun and wanting people to seek help they have...negative reasons for indulging. Some of her lines do imply she may be an empath of somesort who literally feeds on the positive feelings, but that's just a theory.
Also the Gluttony Ring seems by far the nicest out of the Rings of Hell we have seen.

I saw someone in chat say "Fizz never said Blitz would die alone" after Blitz said that Fizz did - something to note is that in his hallucination sequence back in episode 6 (the one with the D.H.O.R.K.S. agents), Blitz's hallucination of Fizz said it ("You're gonna DIE ALONE, BLITZ-O!"), so bro REALLY internalized it as something Fizz actually said
I was so excited to get two episodes in a row yesturday. And i was so HYPED for this one, cause i knew she was going to love Bee.
The way Helluva Boss can give us whiplash from bouncing so hard from emotional to badass to hilarious to emotional, without it feeling cheapened, is phenomenal.
I loved this episode for some different facts - Kesha is a part of it (years after the Zoophobia animation of the song "Die young"), Loona is opening up to others, especialy hellhounds (in S2E2 "Seeing Stars" you can see a few of them in her "Sinstagram" contacts) and then the variety of different hellhounds was amazing.

Why does my soul have to hurt when I see people be in happy relationships? Or just enjoying life in general.
I always feel like crap going to a party (the few times I have) because I can't convince myself anyone wants me there. Getting attention from the host especially makes me feel like a burden, like 'you should be enjoying your party, not spending time trying to rescue me from my inept, self-hating brain'
You had no idea how hard it was to wait for the next episode after Season 1 Episode 7. Also mainly because of copyright crap with Kesha, EPisode 8 went public when Season 2 was going out already. So after Episode 7 we got Season 2 Episode 1 and considering the contents of that episode, we wondered what was in Episode 8.
Beelzebub is the only one who can bring out a introvert and show them they can shine.
Loona feels very uncomfortable. Its not bees fault but the circumstances cuz she is a socially akward girl with agressive attitude. She also had no friends which makes it worse. For her Bee is a Hot girl who is the Gf of Tex who she is love with him. For Loona its a total different world and cant really blend in.
OF COURSE its not Bees fault or something or You Alicia cuz you are happy jolly people who are friendly total at ease with your being, there are just people who cant really process this especially loona who never got kindness in her life. Its not a justification for loona cuz she acted wrong.....but we need to understand WHERE she comes from.
I like to talk about this cuz I m also Happy jolly Person who feels confortable in his own skin and is proud and talks determined but even I encountered people like Loona who are the opposite of me and I realised that sometimes it can be overwhelming for those people to be like that.

Where do I find people as happy as Alicia? Maybe my autism has something to do with it, but I'm the only person in my entire social circle who isn't depressed at all. No idea how to feel about this because what I do doesn't work for any of my friends. I'd love to meet to people who've conquered depression so I can pick their brains and help my friends.
Queen Bee is actually voiced by Kesha, formerly known as Ke$ha. I hope that doesn’t get in the way of using this character more in the future because I’m very intrigued about the relationship dynamics between her and Luna
I actually do feel uncomfortable around people like Bee, I'm a little traumatised because of some people I knew had a completely trash behaviour and was just like that all the time. It can be view as weird, specially for thoso who have social fobia and some introverts. No need to get sad or change your behaviour, because with time and communication I can realise that this person is not really mocking me, they are just like this and everything goes fine, happy ending.
I remember so many people not realizing she was a Sin because in comparison to Asmodeus, she doesn't really feel all that grand, even though she looks the way she does.
I wish i had friends like you, especially when i was younger. You're such a joy just to have around and really life the mood.

queen bee's personality type is borderline degenerate but not too far gone in their traumas and sorrow. she hosts and cares for others at the same time she has a lewd standard so she is close to losing herself. that is why she goes out of her way to help others to the point of it becoming personal. there are many traumas i can list but too tired XD figuring out the psychology of characters is fun

Despite the normal wait for an episode., we had to wait an even longer amount of time than normal do to some music legal disputes. They started releasing some season 2 episodes before this one came out it took that long.

I loved that moment an kinda wish Blitz saw it cause I saw it as she was totally ready to throw hands with a demon lord to defend her dad who she thought was being talk down about an laughed at like how she felt.
Shows even more how much she cares an shows it when it's clear Bliz needs his daughter an not the angst with her calling him dad here.
I hope we.get more development of Loona and maybe she'll even make nice with Bee and be okay just being friends with Trex.
I wonder if part of her background will be one the other sins tried adopting her an using her. Cause I would think normally people would back pff when Demon Lord goes giga. But Loona even got closer ready to fight. I wonder if she's had to in past. Maybe same guy that own Angle but she was more trouble than it was worth so she was brought back.

I had a boss like Bee at my first job. ALWAYS talking, knows everybody's families, always in your face.
As a sheltered introvert used to being unwelcome, I fully expected her to get on my nerves.
But then I noticed that she genuinely cared when I was having a shitty day and, instead of trying to shame it, would straightup full eye-contact tell me "No. Seriously. Take 10, breathe, and come back fresh. Trust me, you need it. You'll be OK."
And I was jumpscared by that; she ACTUALLY cares that I'm doing OK. It was a weird, nice feeling I wasn't used to.
Mrs. Takako was a real one.
Fun note that I enjoy; Bee was casually changing size to match the people around throughout the episode.
It’s theorized that Bee’s intentions weren’t completely selfless. It’s believed that Bee manufactures her addictive cotton candy from the energy at her parties. The better the vibe, the better the product to keep them coming back for more, because keep in mind; she IS the Deadly Sin of Gluttony. It wouldn’t do her good if people at her parties were bringing down the mood or causing issues and fights, cuz then the food and the energy there would sour, and people would leave and be less likely to come back. Again though, this is all a theory, but if it does have any weight, then Bee might’ve just been showing the door to Loona and Blitzø with a warning, because she came as Vortex’s guest. Who can say what her motivations were, whether they were well intentioned or self-serving remains to be seen.
It’s also believed that the parties in Gluttony are an invitation for hell hounds to get caught up in the hookup scene. Many of those conceived from said affairs end up in the foster care system, and so Loona’s initial disdain and discomfort at the party, might’ve been fear of ending up repeating those choices too. One hell hound took a picture of her throwing up at a previous party, so it stands to reason that due to any number of factors (peer pressure, trying to find her crowd which can be harder for adoptees of different racial foster families), Loona was already going to the party with reservations of not feeling like she belonged there. Then she found that the girlfriend dating the guy she’s got a crush on (I imagine Loona was hoping to compete with them), is one of the Deadly Sins. It’s just a lot all at once, so I get Loona being defensive.
who can say. maybe there were a few negative ulterior motives or maybe it's one of those situations where she's doing something that's seemingly screwed up yet does it with the best of intentions. as for the foster care thing, it's likely that Bee isn't even aware of how badly the hounds there are being treated. it wouldn't be the first time in history a bunch of subordinates have lied to their superior.
@@Shalltear773that’s a good point too. I really wanna give Bee the benefit of the doubt. However, I can’t shake the feeling she knows, because she got a good read on Blitzø, but then just doesn’t know the abuse happening in the hell-hound pound? And given that Vortex also works for Verosika-a demon specifically catered to working in the Lust ring as a Succubi-I feel like Bee has to know how her circle and Ozzie’s can feed into each other (Lust is a strong desire, usually carnal, and Gluttony is like a multiplier on that desire, making it insatiable). She knows how dangerous and self-destructive indulging in her sin can be, and even sings about it, “I’m whatcha want, not whatchu need”. Hell-hounds are also one of the lower social classes in hell too, and she’s dating Tex. She HAS to know. 😢
Something else of note to kinda add to the sadness but explain Blitz a bit better is if you pause while they walk by the photos HIS face is scratched out in every single one of them. It loans itself to the idea that he hates himself so much that he doesn't even deserve to be in these "happy moments" he has on display. Excited to see you start season 2!
