This is for all of us who lost our dads. Respect is something that is rare nowadays.
or in my case my grandfather might as ell have been my dad
Ryan Johnson Same can be said for mothers or anyone that is close to us
Jose Battle Thanks -I should check on that.
GOD Bless you, Barry. Be Strong !!!!!!
this is a song I've been singing 35 years and heard lots this gye and this song once in a lifetime !
I don't care what anyone says, this is real music. Great song Jason!
Enjoy them while you have them cause you can never replace that time once they're gone
Ain't that the truth
Your right I need to spend more time with all my family
Im 14, and this song is my grandfather he's done and sacrafised so much over the years for his family and now that he can't do the things he once could after his heart attack and losing his leg I steped up to do them. Whenever he calls needing something, Im their like he used to be for my family. I dont mind mowing his lawn, cleaning his vehicles, fixing his sheds, and any other tasks he needs because if he could, he would be doing the same for me. He still does what he can, which is not much, but it's so appreciated. I am in to building and fixing things and my father is not so my grandfather tells me every weekend when I go vist him "if theirs anything in the shed you would like just ask you can probably have it" I would never expect that but he nows he can't use it and I can and if he doesn't give it to me it will all rot away in the sheds. I love my grandfather and am so scared for the day I won't be able to go see him or give him a call after a long day. I dont know what I would do without him.
I am so glad to be a old style women as a 22 years old who has so much respect to others and is thankful for every blessing God brings. And even thank him through the storms of life. I hope marry a good man one day.
@Cult Mechanicus Hello
Amen
Same here but the difference is I'm a guy
Hopefully I find a woman with my values
Lost my dad 2 years ago yesterday. He was that type of father- loving and caring. Married to my mom for 65 years. I was graced to spend 48 years learning from him every day. ...Thanks for the song and the memories.
WOW thats wonderful 65 years some people dont live that long Praise God you had and have such a family
@@jamesbailey7810 Oh I am grateful to God. I truly was blessed! Until the last minute- nothing was ever left unsaid. Makes being at peace a little easier.... Thanks James!
@@GT-qw7zh yw pal and God Bless
65? I call bs. Of I gotta do math for any one they don’t deserve the respect of the response 🤣🤡
It was my great grandparents that showed me all there love and there happiness while they were still alive and married
I love this song. It reminds me so much of my grandfather. The saddest part of this song is its true they sure as hell don't come close to making them like this anymore. The stuff that generation went through raised the toughest and greatest Men around. Our world has gotten soft and it shows unfortunately.
Look at us now 🥺
So true man makes me think of my Grandfathers and Father now Long. So sad the way the world is going and the direction people being so dishonest and Greedy caring only of themselves and the mighty dollar. Glad they can’t see how crazy everything has gotten.
Jason's Grandfather,Harvey rutz(who inspired this song and i believe is in the video) passed away yesterday at the age of 82.Thoughts and prayers go out to Jason and his family.
So sad to hear this!
+cmusicfan11 yes this was his Grandfather that was in the video!
i knew harvey personally as well as jason it hit us all pretty hard but i bet harvey and my grandfather ar up to their old tricks up in heaven... or bulding stuff... constantly building those two...
my grandpas last name was rutz ? wonder if they are related
The truth behind this song makes my throat tighten with tears everytime I hear it......
What's the truth behind the song. I cant find anything
@@RHEC1776😅
@@RHEC1776sorry you're oblivious to this very scary truth
Mijn lieve Walther van mij! Dit is een heel mooi liedje! Ik houd zo ontzettend ontzettend veel van jou!
How am I just finding this in 2019?! What a great song.
just finding this in 2021... sorta a rap fan but on a country binge rn... mainly listen to upchurch(country+rap+rock) or kevin gates(rap only)...
At times i get tired of people telling me I'm a Rare kind of guy since it seems almost imposable to find a nice woman now adays, but i will say one thing this song helped alot to make me realize staying true to who you are is much better than being what your not.
Trust me I'm trying to but i swear at times i feel like a car thats been driving for years though the desert and it's getting to where its looking like I'm going to run out of gas before i get to next station and the storms I'm facing in life are getting harder
+Stephen LaMar just hang on man you can do it. I don't know what you're going through but hang on man
We are out here.
Keep it up brother. I was in the same boat. Held out for a long time, knowing what I wanted. Then my girlfriend who appreciates the old school, respectful, non-partying, hard working ways about me popped up in my life at the right time and we've been going strong ever since. She's out there. Staying true to yourself is the best thing you can do.
Keep being you
Hey there,got to come again....
absolutely great song and the best video imaginable to it...
And yes,...this kind of honesty you see at 3.20 ....this still happens in the canadian countryside and of course in the US,too ...
You can turn and twist it any way you want........COUNTRY PEOPLE ROCK !
Thank you for sharing.
God bless
I wish my great grandparents were still alive because they were the glue to the family 😢
My grandpa is this video. Takes his hat off in the house/church, opens the door open for my grandma, tells the waitress she did a good job, and prays for his kids and grandkids every day. Thank you Grandpa Bob.
I was born in 1988 and was brought on Hank Williams, Conway Twitty etc. and I've lost my touch of country but this is a great song. Kudos.
This song reminds me of my grandpa so much. I just lost him a month ago. I cry everyday since he's been gone. He raised me and was my best friend. He was 87 years old.
I was raised in Philly. my parents in Oxford nc. we went down every summer for a week. I was 6 when me my dad and grandad went fishing. I remember we went to this pasture and had to go on the tractor. it was red rusty and huge. I can see the big m on the side. we used canned corn and chicken livers for bait. we used these 10 foot long bamboo poles. didn't get a nibble.we had biscuits and ham with blackberry zerves and my dew for lunch. best memory of my youth.
Why would anyone dislike this song? It makes me think of how good of a man my Papa is. He is still married to my grandma after 50 years. He is the most honest, and caring man. Thumbs up if you love/miss your papa, grandpa, opi, ext! :)
Man I miss my grandfather, he was such an amazing man. Everything I learned, I learned from my pops. It's truly an honor to carry his name. 3 years since he passed now and all I can do is hope that I've made the right decisions so that he can look down on me and be happy of the decisions I've made and the man I'm working to be.
I'm reminded of my step-father Joe and my Mom when I listen to this song, he adored my Mom and he let her know everyday through his actions. He was such a gentlemen, I wish he was here today - they really don' t make'em like that anymore (heart emoticon here). Thank you Jason Blaine, for this incredibly poignant song!
This song was made to be the spittin image of my grandfather. made me cry. He combed his gray, or silver he called it haha hair back, built the baptist church where he lived and was happily married to his loving wife for over 50 years and always drove a chevy..... what an amazing song
Marine 20 years a song of our brothers Respect
I watch this whenever I feel homesick. The video's from my home town, those are his real grandparents, and my ex boyfriend's dad bartended his wedding. Gotta love that homegrown Canadian talent!
I hear ya Natalie! I'm in Pembroke now and it's home!!
He still combs his hair like Elvis
Pays cash for everything
And he'll only drive a chevy and thinks Alan Jackson's king
He knows everyone by name at the local hardware store
They dont make 'em like that anymore
Up with the sun each mornin'
Hardly missed a day of work
Summer 1957 he helped build that Lutheran church
Believes a man should work all week but save Sunday for the Lord
They dont make 'em like that anymore
Standin' shoulder to shoulder with him now
I still feel small
And I'm still lookin' up to him like he's ten feet tall
There's somethin about that generation
These days I think we need 'em
More than we ever did before
But they dont make 'em like that anymore
He married his sweet Mary
June 1955
He goes on and on about her
Her casseroles, her clear blue eyes
He still helps her with her coat
Still opens her car door
They dont make 'em like that anymore
Standin' shoulder to shoulder with him now
I still feel small
And I'm still lookin up to him like he's ten feet tall
Theres somethin' about that generation
These days I think we need 'em
More than we ever did before
But they dont make 'em like that anymore
Theres somethin about that generation
These days I think we need 'em
More than we ever did before
Yeah thats for sure
But they dont make 'em like that anymore
He still combs his hair like Elvis
Pays cash for everything...
I like the end of this video. It shows there are a few young folks out there today who still live by the golden rule.
I am 10 years late Jason, but the best song ever, thank you for your insite and talent, worked with you in Pembroke.
"Theres somethin' about that generation
These days I think we need 'em
More than we ever did before
But they dont make 'em like that anymore."
Truer words have never been spoken.
This song reminds me of my granddad. Lost both legs within a little shy of a decade, his beautiful kind hearted wife of 50 years committed suicide a year ago, lost damn near everything he’s ever worked for and is still the most humble honest and respectable man I’ve ever known
Sorry for your loss of ur grandma. Just lost mine last year. My grandpa is the same way. He shoots straight no bullshit. One of the most honest and respectable men out there. My grandpa is the best grandpa a guy could ask for. Everyone in the town I live in knows him. My grandpa and I are thick as thieves man
They dont make em like that anymore. I wish more were like my grandpa.hes the best grandpa a guy could ask for. He was faithfully married to my grandma till death did them part. When my grandpa's generation is gone the world will be poorer
My grandpa is my dad, my best friend and my life!! If he's gone well i'm not here too!! I love you grandpa!! They sure don't make them like you anymore!
2019!!!!! Beautiful
Your been missed " my beloved" you'e always in my heart. I heard this song to Cailey grandpas angel! when we all went to the grave yard to have memorial last November 2011, what a beautiful song!
Smiles, hi Evelyn 🌺
song reminds me of my poppa a lil bit. he was a musician back in his younger days and he was one of the best players i knew. he's still around but he cant play like he used to, although he still tries now and then and he still sounds awsome in my opinion. when that day finally does come he says he's going to give me his 1988 original handmade Dobro guitar. they don't make Dobro's handmade anymore so it's worth alot. it's also made in the year i was born. i know my poppa truly is one of a kind
It's been a month since my grandpa went to heaven. He was like a father to me. Missing you my sweet grandpa. Rest in peace 🕊🕊
Definitely reminds me of my great grandfather, sure was special
This song reminds me so much of my 89 year old Dad, everything you sang about was so true. Great song, thanks so much for hitting the nail on the head.
We lost these days there far far far gone ! God I wish I was born in the 70’s
This reminds me of my grandfather..
He met my grandmother when they were about 15 or 16 and my grandfather is now 70 and still treats my grandmother like a queen, their closer than ever.. they raised 3 children in their lifetime.. I can't thank my pop more for all hes done for me and giving me the greatest thing in my life which is my father.
5 seconds in I began to BAWL. I love this, and I love that it was filmed in my hometown PEMBROKE
My best friend was a stolen grandpa lol that's what I called him. We talked online for 15 years. Im brazilian... He is american. I learnt everything from him... From "Chevys are the real deal" to "No one needs anything between 9mm and 45acp"(refering to the 40 lol).
I still talk to him... In my heart, he will always be alive, unfortunately we never met personally, but that bond did not require anything but the spiritual connection. One day I'll make him proud and come to america to be the firefighter I promised him I'd be.
Thank you dad, for everything. You were a good father. I will always miss you.
heard Ron MacLean talking about this song on hockey day in Canada yesterday. great song. RIP
This video was done so well. Brought a tear to my eye! Great job Jason
Right now in 2019 this song for my 2 uncles randy and david cause this is so them love u guys
i wish you luck. the world truly needs people like that nowadays. today it's all about me, me, me. no one ever thinks about putting other peoples needs above their own. it's for these very reasons that i want to get a job in the field of helping people such as the Crisis Help Line or in an animal shelter
Better than anything played on country radio today this is real music
Yeah pembroke ontario for the win ! ❤️

awesome song and video but just have to say this I work and live in Fort McMurray Alberta and went through the mass evacuation from the wildfires and my wife, kids and I came back to Pembroke till we could go back and I was shopping in the mall and seen a bake sale on a Sunday wich is pretty common but this one had about 5 or 6 preteen girls and Mom's and grand mas maybe and I seen a sign that the money made on Saturday would go to some local thing and Sunday it would go the red Cross for Fort McMurray wildfire relief.
So I bought some cupcakes and was walking away turned around and asked who idea was it to have the bake sale and this little girl maybe 11 or 12 shyly put up her hand and said it was hers, I said thank you for your support to help Fort McMurray it was awesome to good valley kids just want to help wich ever way they can. I may live in Fort McMurray but it's still not home
Miss you daddy looks like i gotta change the lightbulb all by myself now but dont worry u brought me up strong and ill pray every night and i wont trust anyone who dont have any books and ill make sure ill tell mamma i love her everyday xxx
Ik ben aan het stofzuigen en ik ben stapelverliefd op jou!
love this song ❤ the lyrics are absolutely beautiful
I loved when it said Chevy parking all others will be towed and the kid was driving a Ford Truck!
On our grandpa and grandma's 65th wedding anniversary, someone made a video with this song! Was watching it today and came to look for the song! Now it will forever remind me of him,he passed 3 months ago!😢❤
I wish they still made them like that, still looking up to my grandfather, who's been gone most my life. They broke the mold with him.
this is mine dance withy grands for my wedding. absolutely beautiful song sums him up to a T
This is recording where I live !! His brother was my teacher in high school ❤️
This is what country is spouse to me great song and so much respect love this song
Reminds me of my grandfather:) we used to always joke about how his generation is and always will be better:) I listen to this song when I miss him:(
True song makes me think of my Grandpa .
when i hear this i automatically think of my grandpa bud and it just brings tears to my eyes because my grandpa died the day after i was born :'(
My papa. One hell of a man. I'm blessed to still have him ,me at 25 him at 74. He is the man I wanna be, a man that wanted nothing more than to be a family man. He's the one I call when I get good news or don't know what to do. He's the man that told me if your hands ain't bloody, your shirt ain't soaked in sweat, or you ain't tired when you get home, you didn't work hard enough. He's my hero and I know I'm blessed to still have him. Mark Milanovich, you are one tough sob and I only pray I can fill your shoes one day.
I am the BIGGEST Country Music Fan ever and this is one of the best songs and videos I've ever heard and seen. Really lifted my heart. Jason Blaine, you have an awesome voice. Far better then many present country music stars. I wish you the very best. I hope your song gets the country radio airplay it deserves and I hope to see it on CMT.. It's worlds above the majority of songs I've ever heard in country music. The subject matter of this song brought huge tears to my eyes. JUST AWESOME!
Buddy Sizemore
they sure don't bud. condolences to jason and fam.
my generation needs to learn from their grandparents, I'm ashamed of people my age
I can definitely agree im almost 20 and my generation is unbelievably dumb is so many ways
I can’t agree more. I’m 18 and some of the shit my generation does makes me wonder what the hell is wrong with people. It’s how they are raised I believe. I’m wyoming small town born and raised
You do have some good people from 18-30...they just aren't as common as they used to be. People tend to be a lot more selfish now.
Totally agree with you brother I’m only 17 and I listen to my grandpa more than my dad
My daughters certainly have. I made sure of it.
They really don't make them like that anymore and clearly this is what this generation needs most
It was great to see some sights of this small town!
Why isn't he topping the charts? What's with this other bullshit trash I hear? This is the kind of country country used to be. They don't make country singers like this anymore.
agreed
+MrWolfSnack amen to that.
I thought this was just more generic pop when I clicked on it (I was just curious), but, surprise! It's country! :)
When it comes to the country industry, I kinda agree with the fact that country music went downhill the past few years. I think 2010 was around the time that country music was the best. Remember when Taylor Swift was a country singer? I miss that- the 2008-2010 Swift before "1989" came out. I do like the "bro" stuff from today, but i'd still rather hear things like "I Hope You Dance"...
+Kat TheFanEnthusiast Taylor Swift was actually never country. she was bro country at best and that type of country music sucks very badly
GOOD CANADIAN BOY!
+Reese Nemeth Good Pembroke boy!
Reese Nemeth I'm Canadian
I was wondering what kind of money that way the man used to pay with at the supermarket.
sounds like billy currington
Boy this Reminds me of my Dad Too the T, And the Part Still Pays with Cash Hits Home, Thank God He's Still here at 81 and Doing Pretty Good For his age, He is My Best Friend and a Good Dad Thank God For Him and Hope I have Many Years More With Him. This Song Hit's Home.
i dont even listen to country, purely rap pretty much, and this song is honestly amazing, definititely subbed
ill admit im a strong half wolf half man with more weapons then I can count ready to fight for my civil liberties but this song got me crying bad "sobs" my generation are focused on killing innocent worshiping evil sex drugs and not careing for another they worship these stupid rap stars more then our real god our real savior Jesus Christ we need to get back to our grass roots god bless you Jason blaine
back when women actually appreciated even when you did something small like make a step to get to the top shelf, now women want the world and even then.......too many high expectations.
Robbie ferron .....i appreciate all kind gestures and recognize it more and more when done because they definitely don't have many guy's or woman like that anymore. 💕👍😉
It's the simple things in life that truly touch's your heart. 💕
Your looking at the wrong women
It's okay to have high expectations. I lowered mine and have been disappointing since . Unevenly yoked. Regret my decision to settle for less.
@Pipo Chan no lol I dated a man who couldn't see the hypocrisy in his church. He couldn't see that my god was the same Christian God as his. My ex is a combo rig welder and I'm structural welder making why way to combo single hand. 😉 combo welding wont just take me to Paris
#whylimitemyself.
I miss you papaw. It's not got any easier the last 12 years without you. I miss you soooooo much 😭😭😭😭
Listened to this song a million times. Haven't been able to since Nov 1st. I always saw my husband's grandfather in this video... he passed on November 1st and even now i have chills.
Smiles, hi Tammy 🌺😊

Jason blaine, you made pembroke proud, we still talk about you and how far you have come. COME VISIT US SOON !! Bro we miss you.
I agree, Jason. They don't make em like my dad anymore either.
I don't like that blond girl. I think she would have kept it.
lol she taught me in grade 6
Lake Odessa, Michigan is like this. My grandfather died in 2002 and he was exactly like this song. he was the most amazing man ive ever known and i know i compare the men i date to how my grandfather treated my grandmother :) It is so sweet. Ill find my gentleman one day.
My work colleague and friend died yesterday. He was on the verge of retirement. He was the one who told me everything on my first day at the company. They Don't Make Em' Like That Anymore! Its very sad that he was not able to enjoy his retirement. So folks, spend more time with your loved ones, live your dreams, and do what makes you happy better now than later!
Yeah!!! Good Canadian country music!! I grew up in ST. Charles Ont. raised by my Grandparents so I could soooo totally relate to this song and I have to say I miss my Granddad everyday because he was so my hero. I was misty eyed in the end.
We lost my oldest Brother on Easter Sunday, & it broke my dad's heart. We lost him 1 day short of 3 weeks after my brother, Sr. & Jr. 😢 My heart's just broken. My beautiful daughter found this song, and it's my dad to a T... The 1st line got me, but in listening, I felt like you were talking about my daddy. This is now song that will be played at his Celebration of Life Ceremony. Thank you so much!
Spend time living with and learning from your elders. My granma is my best friend. My dad was a hard working man who passed away young. I have been blessed to have my grandma and her siblings in my life and even my son's life. Love them while they are here and show them your love. It is amazing what you learn about yourself when you do. Then be the change you want to see in the world.
Hey Jana,
Reading your words I have to say I am quite impressed...there is so much truth in your lines......
And thinking about some mistakes I did as a son and father- and having your words in my mind ,I have to say,-you seem to be a very remarkable woman,
ts not that men never think this way,but I guess that -sometimes words like these come easier for women-isnt that right?
Thank you very much for your words.
God bless.
Roger
Thank you. I believe women do tend to speak from the heart more often. I appreciate your kind reply
I miss him so much , cancer took him 20 years ago today. I wish he was still hear miss you granpa
Oh man does this make me think of my papaw. So blessed to have someone from back yonder still in my life. I love you paw.
Jim Higdon and Papa Rose not a day goes by i dont think of them is miss them so much :( i spent my G.jims last night he had with him it was truly a blessing now that i look at it and my papa well he had a brain tumor got it removed and lived about 4 more years he layed in the casket with the biggest smile on his face because he knew where he was going he knew. R.I.Paradide I will never forget you guys
My Dad was a merchant marine when WW2 broke out. Stayed with it and was towed all over the Pacific on a concrete barge hauling war materials. Strafed by Zeros, attacked by Japanese subs, never stopped, just did what the country asked. 45 years later the government finally recognized his service.
I miss my DAD.
Love the Canadian 20 he put down. Nice to see this appears to be filmed in Canada.
I love this grandpa song. I miss my grandparents. Mine was golden. Grandparents are so heartwarming.
I live in Malaysia, a country in Southeast Asia. I'm tired of the crappy pop songs the local stations play these days. This song is so good and meaningful. Love it.
Awe this video made me cry. It's so true tho, genuine gentlemen are extremely hard to come by.
Reminds me of my grandpa. Wish I saw him more than once a year. I learned a lot from him and still do when given the chance. I ask questions, then shut up and listen. He raised a family, owned a business and is retired doing things he loves. Not bad for a man that is the youngest of 10 and didn’t finish the 7th grade just so he could keep the family farm going. I used to call him pop pop, now I call him Timmy (his choice). Every time I climb that porch, I’m 5 years old again.
I'm a 30somthin construction worker mentored by some solid old men when I was young they had hard hands, strong work ethic and heavy hearts, these days on commercial construction sites u will find soft hands, skinny jeans and hurt feelings, I just don't understand it.... The men that built America are fading we now live in a world where men build things you'll have to build again...
My grandparents got married June 1955 too. Except my grandmother died Christmas Eve 2007. I showed this to my grandfather and I said thank you and he started crying. Thank you for a great song.
This song reminds me so much of my grandfather he died before i could known him much but from stories iv read and been told about him this was him
This song.... beautiful! This is my grandfather through and through... thank you for making such an amazing and true song!
