This suggest that your vehicle has been boxed in or immobilized. Else a better defense is to get away from the threat, because the attacker on the outside could keep shooting at the same spot on the glass until he gets through.
That begs the question; how many shots from the outside that land within 2" would it take to get through?

So the glass is already compromised but still gives a little peotect
Now, you shout from the inside with now clear sight, meaning you most likely mis your opponent, but now in addition yoi destroy the last protective layer.
    Result. You are dead.
    Just drive !
And if you are unable to drive and stuck. Get out of the other side a) run or b) take an aimed shot.

Can you shoot through the glass from the inside when it is not already damaged from the outside? That would be a great feature if so.

Yes, the way the glass panels are stacked makes it so that from the outside in, it compacts and becomes denser as the kinetic energy from the round dissipates into the glass. Shooting from inside makes holes in the glass but the glass cracks in such a way that it does not pack densely and stop the round.
There is multiple glass and polycarbonate layers interspersed in the thickness of the window, stacked alternatingly. The molecules of the glass have a surface tension that is stressed in a particular direction during manufacture and this also causes it to break along a particular axis or "grain" in the glass just like wood. It's essentially the same process as safety glass that shatters into tiny bits when it breaks rather than large shards. They essentially use the physics of this to absorb energy in one direction while "releasing" it in the other and this doesn't compromise the integrity of the glass (except if outside shooter manages to bulls eye directly into the hole you just made on first shot) because the polycarbonate panels are designed to keep the glass shards inside the window panel, you see in the video it doesn't lose much glass when taking rounds from outside. The glass shatters the incoming round and the fragmentation gets caught by the many layers. The only way to get through from outside is to completely empty the window of glass through sustained fire.

whats the point? shoot the front of the glass then shoot behind it to break it? the target isnt gonna be dumb enough to open the door in the first place

Huh? So you attempt to shoot into an armored vehicle, then you open the door, shoot back thru a damaged window and label it a success?
    Am I missing something?
How about putting 10 rounds of .556, while grouping into a 6 inch circle- case solved, learned that my second day at infantry school.
