Thx, Since slash vs. backslash is distinguishable, most people don't get mixed up.
@@holger_pBut some do, and one of my pet peeves is people reading URLs saying backslash.
@@TomCee53 it's cause they only know the word backslash in English, and don't actually associate any direction to it.
This because the PC and windows came earlier, and they had directory paths C:\ and they learned this is called a backslash.
10-15 years later urls came up. Nobody activly paid attention, the slash has another orientation.
Before computing, there was not need to distinguish, cause it was meaningless, what to use. So many languages don't have words for these things.
So. It's microsofts' fault. Bill Gates very own personal decision.

In this usage of the word language that British, Canadian, Australian, and American English variations can be considered different languages with a large overlap. I’m sure some will take exception with more than a few things I’ve just stated. I’m not a linguist, just someone who’s lived a while.
My point is, get over it. I was going to comment that the last should be parentheses, since it pictured both left and right. After reading the rest of your comments, I didn’t have the heart.

It's Period or Full Stop not Dot if you're referring to punctuation marks. It's referred to as Dot when describing a web address.
