- Floyd is here to start the upholstery process on the 1950 Ford bench seats. There's an issue with the back... it doesn't fit anymore since we chopped the roof. So Chad is going to try to modify it once we have it stripped down to the bare bones.

Chad, a good pair of side cutters makes short work of those upholstery rings. Quicker and less dangerous than a grinder.

Chad reminds me of another builder who works similar his name is Ian I seen him use a piece of cardboard to determine the shape of a car roof by holding it on its horizontal plane and bending over lit.

@@stevemazz3121 Doesn't make a difference when it was recorded. The car should have never left the work shop before the back seat was lowered. THEY NEW IT HAD TO BE DONE. Chad got to excited about his next project with the box car & that large engine.
Milwaukee grinders last forever. You just have to change out the armature brushes and the bushings when they wear out.
I've never seen an upholstery grinder before..

Our tastes are not the same they simply love the yellow colour for panels... personally I've never seen a yellow door panels...bit they love it and its their car!
I like it when the clips jump about from projects as it confuses the haters, i mean they sit their asses down to slate Chad on anything he does nightly so they feel good in themselves & he is doing the learning on upholstery........that's women's work sewing & stuff even if you use a grinder, then they spend the evening trying to workout grindergate like its a conspiracy.
Hog rings were put in hogs noses to keep them from rooting around and causing property damage .
That foam looks in good shape, I would add another foam and glue them together to make the seat more comfortable.

We put 74 newport seats in my Uncles 50 ford . Bottom just the right size but the back we had to narrow a little but it worked.

I love the look of the car and the paint. I’m still not loving the Pea Green interior. White, Cream, Primrose Yellow, or even a Light Tan, would look better IMHO.

I thought a car like that should have been black , a throwback to the mobster days. That said brown is different, the mustard green goes with the brown but still at the end of the day when I look at it I still think it’s a cool car that I’d own.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. That being said the metal work on the 50 was well done. But who paints their car Brown and adds plastic stick on chrome?
Buy him custom made chrome, probably only set you back 5-10k.

Floyd knows interiors very well. I can tell this is a previously recorded video. First off all the windows are not in the 50 yet , then chad is using the grinder he destroyed a while back.

Years ago I quit buying custom car magazines because every feature seemed to have popular color scemes. I personally am thinking a complete cover yellow pinstripe would win a prize.

I don’t blame them because it’s the way I would do it, l would think that they often keep shooting and shoot a couple of videos a day. They have a life, this one is an old video but they may have had it ready for an emergency in case they couldn’t get one done

You have a real professional there i know he's going to take the covers back to the shop recut all sew it all together come back put the padding back on put the covers back on pin it up you have your new cover what color we don't know i like to see how he cuts that back seat to fit the front take the back of the bottom repeat all is he doing the sides the ruff cut to fit sow in clip to hold the rods that goes a cross left to right a thin 8 inch hope he doing the sides hope he does it the right way with the padding and clips either use a red or tan material to match the wheels that green had to go now lets see who is going to talk bad about my comment. Hog piercings is what we would call them today. LOL Applied to the top forward location on hog snout, discourages hogs from rooting in the soil, uprooting fence, etc. I was tasked with applying these rings to my herd. Just an old farm boy.

Ok you got the materials for the upholstery from a yard sale. Use pink for the carpets.
Rock wool doesn't burn. That's the fireproof insulation I put in my walls and ceiling.

You could make the whole seat out of timber and use lounge chair springs or webbing.

Great opportunity to make a complete redesign back seat, maybe as 2 seats instead of one bench, that way will make centre hump disappear on the base 🧐
The backseat can be made out of foam rubber trash, the springs they do it all the time couple different densities of foam rubber.

The hump in the springs can be flatend buy using twine and competing the higher springs making them flat and still keeping the comfort then support the springs with your board frame

Just put two newer bucket seats in the front & no back seat at all.
And this is a old vedeos no window in car no vent windows and you can see how much the seat needs to go back but what do i know any one know what nates doing lol lol
