    In reality, these things don't stay in one spot for long so it'd pretty difficult to make a connection. If you really wanted to fuck with someone on one of these that badly it would be much easier just to punch them...

      MrCube17 ahem hackers are stereotypically not good at personal confrontation or communication.

      MrCube17 If you reeeeally want to fuck with someone, as with the video about Chrysler's uConnect, you will have patience. Think about it, if no one knew this was a problem, and someone wanted another person dead, all you'd have to do is follow them around while they play on the thing. In a crowded city no one would notice, and no one would notice much if someone on a skateboard got flattened by a bus. it's very dangerous to have technological exploits like this, yeah it sounds like something out of a movie, but some of the best movie murder scenarios are unfortunately based on something real. Some people are content with just simply fighting with someone, other people are more subtle. The more common an exploitable technology becomes, the more likely it will be exploited.

      @MrCube17 8 лет назад +1

      Dead Reckon You seem to know what you're talking about :p Good point about carrying out stealth assassinations though, had not thought of that lol They should just wire the controller to the skateboard...a far more sensible idea.

    • @DeadReckon
      @DeadReckon 8 лет назад +2

      MrCube17
      But you could trip over a wire, same reason those damn cups have "CAUTION! HOT!" written on them. People are inherently, well, uh, people.. They could simply just put an encryption on it, I don't know enough about protocols for Bluetooth to say which would be best, or worst, but none is certainly not acceptable. Sure that's fine for a remote control car that no one rides on (Or could without a device to change ones size), but for a device which can be used as a mode of transportation (Up to 20 some miles an hour at that) an encryption is really pretty damn important. I try to be realistic about these things, and so should companies building them. As I said, people will be people, some have good intentions, some only the worst. That is human nature in a nutshell. Besides, I for one don't want to find out if my insurance covers someone on a hijacked electronic skateboard (There are some skaters around here, they're bad enough.), how about you? I know for a fact by skimming my insurance policy that war, declared or undeclared, or a nuclear detonation, intentional or otherwise is not covered by Nationwide insurance... They also don't cover insurrections, rebellions, and several other amusing things that may never happen, and the company may not survive. Hey, you want a laugh better than the youtube comments? Read your car insurance policy if you have one. Skim over for words like "Thermonuclear detonation", it's pretty amusing.

    It would be pretty hard to hack someone passing you at 20mph. The rider would be long gone before you could pair. I agree that there should be some level on encryption to avoid any sort of attack, but the chances of getting hacked are pretty slim. It would have to be a deliberate attack on someone where they know the riders route and board.

    • @scientificpeople02
      @scientificpeople02 3 года назад +1

      It just talks to the lack of any thoughtful design for systems... Sure it's a stakeboard so who would want to hack it but then think about where smart devices are getting places and how susceptible they would be if they don't have security and safety as design and not an after thought.

    It seems like people don't get that they hacked the board. They mentioned is was not encrypted so that means it can just be automated you don't need to hang around to hack it just write some code. It looks like you could just have a computer in your apartment doing this to any rider that comes near your place. Another easy option is a laptop with a few charging batteries so it can last 3 days and hide it in a bush. This is a hack that could be used to fling a board into traffic.

If we don't get all the kinks worked out the whole thing could fail at launch and get set back another 50-100 years.

      They cost over $1000, you would hack it to steal it and sell it!
      If you didn't understand that for some reason, here's a step by step tutorial on how to earn money fast.
      Step 1: Hack Skateboard
      Step 2: Drive it somewhere where the owner can't find it.
      Step 3: Go onto Ebay and sell it.
      Step 4: Profit.

    • @The20Kopel
      @The20Kopel 8 лет назад

      +Devin well, probably they wouldn't steal it that easily, because you can only control the forward and backward movement - no steering. It would stop on some obstacle before it would be far away enough so the owner doesn't see the thief. It could be used as an assassination tool. Imagine, that the rider wants to stop before the junction and instead the hacker gives it a full speed.

    It takes too much effort to research where a person goes on his board, and camp out ahead of time with a computer just to hack it. Chances are he zips by too fast for you to make a connection, and even if you did, What happens after that? So you knocked the guy down. Then what? What's the freakin point. There's no way you're gonna get away with his board.

I've spoken direct with Enertions CEO many times getting everything sorted which it now is and working beautifully. Never in my life have I had the owner of a company take such personal interest in me after buying a product. They really care, it shows big time!!

      +Bennie “Bee836” C I have a skateboard, 2 longboards and an electric longboard that I made, they are completely different. Like telling a motorcyclist why not a bicycle. Its a toy you can use as a vehicle. I'm not going to longboard to work and get sweaty but you could ride an e-board and skip the traffic.

    • @TurbhoeHDRemix
      @TurbhoeHDRemix 8 лет назад

      Eric B
      Thing about a longboard is, you only get sweaty pushing strenuously. Anything you do with an Electric Board you can do with a regular Longboard or Skateboard.
      It's all about your bearings. If you're bearings are extremely good, you'd be amazed how much you can get from one push.
      I guess technically an electric is better for travel, but what if it dies? Then not only are you pushing, but you got more resistance as well. If you're willing to spend 1,000$ on an electric longboard, just buy a scooter or something.

    • @EricFB
      @EricFB 8 лет назад +1

      +Bennie “Bee836” C Unless you're racing $60 bearings vs $10 bearings aren't worth it, as long as your bearings are clean; roll efficiency comes from good wheels. That aside, clearly you're not into the idea and that's fine. My e-board project cost roughly $300 - built, not bought. If it dies i guess i'm shit out of luck, but if it doesnt i'll be doing 20mph down the bike lane on flat. Don't knock it till you try it. Skateboards are great, longboards are great, e-boards are great. Coming back to your original comment: Why not anything?
