Jimmy has been and will be the soundtrack for my life. I wasn’t sure what it would be like to hear everyone else play his music without him. Last night was amazing.
I was introduced to The Great Jimmy B during Covid when I started jogging after my heart operation and listened to Come Monday on repeat over and over again and again never stopped. Now 4 years later when I jog - here come Jimmy and ofcourse Margarita on repeat …… RIP Jimmy B my idol
I saw the Southern Cross for the first time while at the wheel of the tall ship Europa as we sailed the Drake Passage to Antarctica. I always loved this song but love it even more now after that.
Thank you, so much, for putting together this together for all of us to enjoy. You are following Jimmy’s generous spirit and his nature of doing what he could to make others happy. Bubbles up!
Dude, the Souther-Hillman-Furay Band harmonies are great! 👍🏼 To this day you remember the album you purchased with that mowing money. I doubt in the future anyone will remember the first time they “streamed” a song 😆
Great to see the Coral Reefer Band out playing. Would be difficult for them all but Jimmy will be be smiling down on them saying go cubs go lol. Hope they continue to do this with guests and please come down under❤
Stephen stills wrote it and CSN made it iconic. Love Jimmy and he admitted it wasn't his but he put his spin on it. Miss his fabulous energy knowing him decades ago..a generous happy man..and he laughed when I told him their version was the best. We agreed that was the beauty of music. J D Souther was robbed of modt of the credit of his massive collection of songwriting. Glad to see he's still on the big stage.
Thank you so very much for posting. It was a shock to see JD sing this song since his voice is a little fragile these days. It was wonderful because I think everyone was singing including the audience. A beautiful moment. 🌺❤️🦜✨
I think everyone was singing. Oh heck, I’m not a religious person, but I believe Jimmy was singing along in heaven. At least he was in my imagination 🤗
JD Souther November 2nd 1945---September 17th 2024 Jimmy Buffett December 25th 1946---September 1st 2023 May you both RIP and party on in the heavens see ya when I get there.
Blue Water Sailing song with ramifications still being discovered. That southern island of the Marquises is the island of Fatu Hiva. Approximately 23 days form southern Mexico on a mono haul. You will arrive at the Bay of Virgins. Durning April and May the constellation Southern Cross will be symmetrical. Only place on the planet. A vector through the cross straight to the horizon will be true south. The ancient Polynesians used the Southern Cross to navigate to Rapa Nui. (Easter Island). Recent genome studies have shown that Polynesian DNA is present in Columbian and Mexican native Americans.

@alienhuman Oh yes, Richard and Michael Curtis write “Seven League Boots” to which Stills rewrote the lyrics and chorus (that arguably made SC commercially viable.) Indeed, the song is a collaboration, that’s why all three are credited as writers.
I thought Stephen Stills wrote this with help from Richard and Michael Curtis. It's more about a long sailing journey after his divorce ....... Southern Cross.
All true! But this was a favorite cover song for Jimmy and the Coral Reefers. Some folks prefer Bubba’s version to CSN 🤗 ruclips.net/video/f9CgMAT2ybc/видео.htmlfeature=shared
I do too! It was just CSN then as Young was out and David Crosby was barely back in. Stephen Stills and Graham Nash recorded the vocals, and David Crosby did perform the song with CSN at subsequent concerts. Cheers!
Dame Maggie Smith, Bob Newhart, James Earl Jones, Chita Rivera, Eric Carmen, Donald Sutherland, Dabney Coleman, David Soul, John Mayall, Martin Mull, Louis Gossett Jr., Phil Donahue, Richard Lewis, Dr.Ruth Westheimer, Glynis Johns, Richard Simmons, Shannen Doherty, and it’s only October. Somehow 2024 does seem to be that kind of unkind year. 😢
@billdesinger8604 Wow, in my sixties and love all these artists at the Buffett Benefit. However I just saw Madonna, and dig Rhianna and Beyoncé as well. I say that all have some great stuff to offer.

I saw JB live in West Palm. I'm one of the lucky ones. They closed with Southern Cross.😢
Gee, We all knew Jimmy back in the day when he was starting out.Great guy.
I loved Jimmy and his music for over 40 years. Many covered it but nobody did this song as well as CSN.
I agree. CSN did this so well.
Jimmy & JD are about to have a heavenly jam session. Rest in peace, JD. Thank you for all the beautiful music. 🕊️🕊️🤎
Damn it! 😢
I was imagining them seeing each other in heaven too, while watching this. Beautifully said 🤍
Just heard and this performance was the first thing I thought of.
Jimmy has been and will be the soundtrack for my life. I wasn’t sure what it would be like to hear everyone else play his music without him. Last night was amazing.
Yes Sir- I feel the same about Jimmy Buffett!! I hope they play these songs for Jimmy..and all of us here missing him❤❤❤
Great to see Mr Souther.
If there’s a rock and roll heaven they’ve got a hell of a band. Damn I miss them
J.D.Souther, Glenn Frey and Jimmy Buffett together again! RIP!!! Heaven is Rockin tonight!
Proves you’ve got heart! ♥️ Keep jogging and jiving with Jimmy.
He and Jimmy are sailing together in heaven tonight.
I saw the Southern Cross for the first time while at the wheel of the tall ship Europa as we sailed the Drake Passage to Antarctica. I always loved this song but love it even more now after that.
I live under it here in Oz (Australia)
Jimmy lived the life we all wanted to be or should be.
I am still learning to speak "Southernese."
This was only a few months ago, how could he be gone? sad day...
sad indeed greatest music era fading fast
I ❤ J.D. Souther! He has written so many songs that were my favorites through the years. Great to hear him now.
But Souther didn't write this song; it was written by Stephen Stills, based on a song called "Seven League Boots" by Rick and Michael Curtis. Souther.
One of the greatest. He is missed. Sad to see these guys leave us.
Thank you, so much, for putting together this together for all of us to enjoy. You are following Jimmy’s generous spirit and his nature of doing what he could to make others happy. Bubbles up!
R.I.P. JD Souther who died today 9/18/2024
He looks very healthy at this time.
What on earth happened to him these past few months?
Rest in peace.
Glad to still see some real rock musicians playing live.
I know, right?
I mowed grass so I could buy the Southern, Hillman, and Fury band album I was probably 12 I loved that music!
Dude, the Souther-Hillman-Furay Band harmonies are great! 👍🏼 To this day you remember the album you purchased with that mowing money. I doubt in the future anyone will remember the first time they “streamed” a song 😆
I had that amazing album too!
I'm truly sad ,been crying.rip😭😭😭😭😭
R I P JD Souther thank you for your wonderful music.
The man still delivers 😍🤩😍🤩😍🤩
This was definitely one of the highlights of the best concert I have ever seen in my life. JD Souther was awesome singing this.
Great to see the Coral Reefer Band out playing. Would be difficult for them all but Jimmy will be be smiling down on them saying go cubs go lol. Hope they continue to do this with guests and please come down under❤
Amen. God given talent.
God loves Jimmie, J.D.
AND GLENN
AND WANTED A CONCERT
what a heavenly, beautiful song. a classic. crosby, stills, and nash do a stellar job of it as well.
l thought steven stills wrote rhis song
Stephen Stills, Rick Curtis, and Michael Curtis wrote the song, first performed by CSN.
@@nzdave4317, now, I don't feel so stupid! I did too. And, he did.
What an amazing version of Southern Cross!!! I absolutely love this! Incredible harmonies!
Agree 💯!
They really captured the essence and all the beauty of the song ❤️
J.B And J.D. just think about the stories they could tell R.I.P. Brothers
Stephen stills wrote it and CSN made it iconic.

Born and raised under the Southern Cross, this is great.
This isn’t getting easier… RIP JD and JB, 😢❤
Great job by JD.
JD wrote one of my favorite songs that he recorded with Linda Ronstatd called Silver Blue.
JD Souther was the Dude!
Jimmy knew who to hang with RIP
Thank you so very much for posting. It was a shock to see JD sing this song since his voice is a little fragile these days. It was wonderful because I think everyone was singing including the audience. A beautiful moment.

This old CSN Song was done justice by Jimmy ... JD Souther, good choice ...
Very nice!
Beautiful. Job the best Paul.
Thanks for posting these. I love every artist in the tribute. So much talent in one place. Thanks again.
RIP JD, from Amarillo TEXAS.
Fine salute to the man that fashioned my outlook on many, many things.

How can this guy be dead ? Seems so healthy here!!
Wonderful !
I don't know if they make an appearance, but, it would have been nice to have Graham and Steven sing this song.
And let us not forget his contribution to Dan Fogelberg's music!
R.I.P. JD. ☮️❤️🎶🎶🎶
Blessed Jimmy
So good....

Stephen Stills wrote it.
SC was written by the Curtis Brothers. SS got his name on it for $$$

This is fantastic! Sorry I don't know but could someone please tell me who the mc/guitarist is? Thanks!
That’s Jimmy’s band mate Mac

Also Timothy B. Schmitt sang background on this song with CSN.
Oh yes he did and what a great sound they had.
Wish Buffett would have covered the Ozark Mtn Daredevils' Southern Cross..
Jimmie would be proud
The entire purpose of music is to expose the mases to truth and harmony.
Crosby, Stills & Nash song written by David Crosby about his sailing trip around the world after his divorce!
No one did one particular harbor?
Yes! Angelique Kidjo did it. If my memory serves correctly.
did you get 5o clock as well?
No 😢
Sorry to learn of JD’s death. Another loss to music.
Jimmy and JD gone. Slowly but inevitably the great musical performers of the boomer era are departing.
There needs to be a few more acoustic guitars playing here
I see Jake shimabakaru there awesome he’s with the best go get um Jake yee haa
Great sound….drop it down a whole step for JD.
Crank JD’s mic you fools.
Great! Marty Sender You Tube
I prefer the CSN&Y version.

I've been personally hit with 3 big losses when it comes to music>> Jimmy Buffett, Toby Keith, and a few weeks ago Eric Carmen
2:23 performance
2:20
You're gonna give it back or go to jail

All the guitars... it's just a musical tapestry.
J D died last week, 2024 get stuffed, go away, go far away.
Dame Maggie Smith, Bob Newhart, James Earl Jones, Chita Rivera, Eric Carmen, Donald Sutherland, Dabney Coleman, David Soul, John Mayall, Martin Mull, Louis Gossett Jr., Phil Donahue, Richard Lewis, Dr.Ruth Westheimer, Glynis Johns, Richard Simmons, Shannen Doherty, and it’s only October. Man, everyone is getting old and tired. Age is a crazy thing. Not as strong as the old days sadly.
Even old and tired is way better than the pop crap that passes for music today (Rihanna, Beyoncé, Madonna, et. al.).
@billdesinger8604 Wow, in my sixties and love all these artists at the Buffett Benefit. However I just saw Madonna, and dig Rhianna and Beyoncé as well. I say that all have some great stuff to offer.
Pitchy
Boat songs...
A faster tempo wrecks this song. What is lost is the feeling of sailing and being free. Bad call here
All these people are talented, but Jimmy was the only genius.
So you didn’t see Paul McCartney on stage !
Rude crowd
Bad job j.d.. why not Steven Stills. Southers even knew he had totally botched the performance.
Christ stick to c&w that was bloody terrible
Souther Hillman and Fury! I think I got that correct! Sweet sounds. Okay now I listen.
