Vikrant massey deserves an applause for his acting. So does Medha shankar.
I don't think Manoj's character transformation was sudden. It's just the screenplay was so well done that you get a lot of information and context in a few scenes, without heavy exposition hammering on our heads repeatedly like in our dramas.

You guys probably didnt think it was important or didnt realize this, so the real Manoj kumar Sharma and his wife where in the background in some scenes, the table scene where friends were having chai and Medha sings a song, Manoj kumar sharma and his wife where sitting on the table in the background. Just a little detail I really liked.❤
Vikrant Massey was my crush going up, saw him as a 14 year old in this serial called Dhoom Machao Dhoom. Loved his performance in 12th fail, ofcourse in Mirzapur, haseen dilruba as well. For some reason his success and praise now felt like a personal success and gave me immense happiness.❤
Vikrant in Dhoom machao Dhoom was so crush worthy 😍. Very few ppl remember him from that time.

Have you guys seen him in dharam veer along with our rajat tokas ( prithviraj chauhan ) , I think I had also seen him with yami guatum serial name I don't remember . Where they both were neighbours along with different lifestyles .
You both forgot that it has motivated so many students on different levels, there is a huge no. of students who are struggling with their careers, this was the perfect for all of them, including me.
Vikrant Massey’s expression when he finds out that he passed was priceless…a combination of joy,relief and thankfulness!…

Sorry to disagree, its def not a fairytale. Millions of people go through this process. Only they could understand what it means to prepare for UPSC. The direction, camera work and ofcourse acting by Vikrant Massey is on a different level. Just spellbound. And to top it, the vary fact that Manoj (the real one) has had such a journey, from being in a village of Chambal to being an UPSC is a motivation to all. Common people like us has no right to complain about life comapared to his and so many more like him. A true story of an Indian. LOOOVE

Tum bin was not real life based. had so many songs, high budget films, not comparable to 12th fail
12th fail- loved a success story, which is real.. also loved they kept it hopeful throughout.. plus no sex/kissing scene.. made it so much easier to watch with kids
I have been listening to Divyakirti sir for years now and watched a video of original Manoj and Shraddha on the book launch! I took half a day from work to go and watch the movie, so glad I enjoyed it on the big screen!
vikrant messy is a very underrated actor and for the longest time we have seen him as hero's best friend. glad he is getting his due back

Very well said Amna and Hassan. This is a success story of each and every person, we all are struggling to get something or other. If we give up, we cannot reach anywhere, we cannot succeed. This reminded me of so many old movies also, some were made on Munshi Premchand's stories..... Also, you reminded me another favorite of mine Tum Bin.... what a great story and music that movie had!

2:37 this movie literally randomly popped up in our TV's feeds too, I usually don't watch Bollywood movies, stopped consuming Indian content long ago, but I was really hooked with this movie as my siblings decided to run it on tv in background while we were busy with other things.
Then don't watch it... It's not targeted for pak audience. Stick to your pak content only

I don't know why you guys always gave example of Rocky Rani..it was not that good to be appreciated..big set and big budget is not everything.. content is the key..we have grown up watching so many light hearted movies from south as well as bollywood those are no need to be larger than life those are very heart touching relatable movies..we as audience felt connected to them..12th fail is also one of them

As an Indian I loved 12th fail n Vikrant but I want to ask u guys that why u spent a good time discussing about non glamourous look of Yumna in Nayab review n here u r happy wid non ideal hero look (six pack abs hairstyle etc) of Vikrant ? Not comparing storytelling of both bcz I cant watch Nayab (i ll when avail digitally to us) but Isn't this subjective towards female actor who has given same efforts like tanning skin, daring to come up with non glamorous look bcz of character demand???

Would have loved if you both had addressed the struggle of Pakistani aspirants too… wondering if it’s relatable in that aspect?
i asked the same. have never seen a content about pakistani students. i have some pakistani friends and i really wanna know those who dont go to UK, abroad or top pakistani universities, what do they do, what do they study, whats their struggle? the middle class people like me..middle class students. i really wanna know what students of my class do in pakistan. because children from lower classes dont get access to education in pakistan. and kids from rich families either go abroad or get into top unis in pakistan (lums,etc) ...

@@honestman3960 omg same. there was a time i could relate to zubia's journey from yakeen ka safar so deeply that i wanted to become a doctor. but you know somehow i couldnt get mbbs seat despite having marks, then my life completely changed me into kashaf, a struggling girl who is hardworking but doesnt have a good naseeb and often keeps questioning God and is naashukri belonging to a normal middle class family. my family cant pay huge fees to get me into med school. now i have chosen bsc, will do masters and then phd in some subject like nanoscience or neuroscience. i hope i get there.

College gate is a new drama based on students life. It's really enjoyable.

One suggestion to you Hassan and Amna, pls try watching south indian movies. I know the language will be difficult for you, but pls try one or two movies with english subtitles especially malayalam movies. They make many movies like 12th fail. So Iam sure you guys will enjoy.

The best performance of Vikrant Massey is in a marvelous movie called A Death in the Gunj , written and directed by Konkona Sen Sharma. Watch it its a startlingly beautiful movie and was the rage a few year sback. Vikrant as Shutu in Death in the Gunj has turned the best performance of his lifetime, maybe even better than Manoj Sharma

Manoj is a fine actor i love such movies. I use to get this movie thumb nail every day it took me little time to watch it. Then i planned movie night with my daughter to motivate her. and we both enjoyed it a lot. it was not thriller but Aamna is right in saying every moment you are feeling like on cliff hanger kay kohi na kohi dukha dey ga. but now it was not written like that. it was the story of hope.

It is inspiring but also gives false hope to students. Too many students waste 3-4 years of their life in pursuing success end up in utter disappointment

They didn'r show anything bigger than life
A scene where he continously fails in main bcz he was managing both the flour mill and studying for 6 hrs only they showed it was NOT possible. Even if you are man of steel. Bcz this exam require 100% of your focus. So there is nothing about giving false hope.
Not just 3-4 sometimes, much more than that
hardwork, consistency is what matters. but multiple attempts and wasting years shouldnt be glorified. i was a neet aspirant and people still convince me to give my fourth fifth attempt. i have already moved on, doing bsc, will do phd. whats wrong in other fields? multiple attemps are bullshit, unless you are damn sure you will get somewhere. and sadly this doesnt happen with everyone. varna there are many people who are still not done with attempts in neet and upsc, sitting in coachings, working hard each day. many of my students who have given four five attempts of neet are have regrets that they wasted years in preparation, now will haveto invest another 5 years , uparse pg first attempt me clear hone ki guarantee nahi.
coachings have glorified the concept of 'repeating' ...because they get batches. but one should really think about it.
