- A brief history of the conventional submarine. What’s the value of operating modern conventional submarines? They play an active role all the way through from peace time to times of conflict, protecting civil society.

SAABmarine
I'm curious about the actual genesis and purpose of this video...
High quality though.
Same
we need submarines cuz they are delicious!!!!
Or if Sweden 🇸🇪 decided to remain neutral and not even join or contribute to the E.U. 🇪🇺, 3:35 would also demonstrated how these subs would make good coastal defense deterrence really well, especially against belligerent troop transport landing and amphibious assault ships that attempt to invade neutral Sweden by sea.
Why does the E.U. membership matter if they are good at coastal Defence or not? Russia is still the main threat and regardless of E.U. they can attack the Swedish coast
@@thurbine2411 thinking DV here may have been alluding to fact Swedish military quintessentially conceived to operate independently of such nefarious organisations as eu. and nato. et al ✌ be🌲well
Everybody Gangsta until Saab Submarine sunken the USS Ronald Reagan Aircraft Carrier...
Good job Sweden :)
Us made PNS Gazi submarine hunt by indian navy 1971 when we divided pakistan into 2 parts who supported by us and nato countries 😂😂😂😂😂
Why would you ever want that? Or are you referring to some military exercise?
@@nikovbn839 referring i guess :/
@@nikovbn839 because a Swedish sub actually 'sank' a US carrier in an exercise.
"This is a Submarine"
No it’s not, it’s a drawing of a Submarine!
If it really WAS a Submarine, either my flat was in the wrong place, or the Submarine had oddly gone where no Submarine Has gone before!
This is a submarine, there are many submarine like it but this one is ours....😁
🇸🇪💪
Why is the Swedish 🇸🇪 Gotland subs and so many other real life attack subs not for sale in Steel Diver:Sub Wars for the Nintendo 3DS?
お勉強になりました
Why is Saab trying to market to children?
Idk if I was a kid and could buy a nuclear powered and ballistic missile capable submarine, I would ask my mom for one. But only if I was a good boy!
Kids these days know more (or at least more interested) on subs than many adults. I can relate, when I was in junior high, I would read about them when I can
@@drethegrater335 may I know why u said u have no money when it's natural for 15 yr olds having no money?
because most of the RUclipsrs are children...
You got interested, you tell us...
It is interesting how the video explains that AIP subs "remain undetected", whereas Nuke sub can't. It is not completely the truth... Nukes can remain underwater for weeks and months, even at high speeds. Even the best AIP subs can only remain 2 weeks underwater at low speed. The rest of the time (6 weeks on a 2 months patrol), they need to charge their batteries with diesel engines, every 2 to 4 days max, like most of SSKs. In these phases, they are easily detectable 10 to 20% of the time (radar, underwater noise, infrared, wake) !!!
Very good
Geoffrey, I disagree. Practicality and money 💰 is why SSKs are better for coastal patrol and can refuel at nearby home, neutral, and friendly ports. Where's the Caterpillar Drive for nuke subs? Did you not hear that even the most quiet nuclear subs have some signature with them? Even if something like the Caterpillar Drive did exist, how practical is it for a big, expensive nuke sub to patrol and defend the coast? Nuke subs are better for transoceanic power projection and nuclear deterrance.
No.
Nuclear subs are (very) noisy and can be more easily detected compared to AIP driven subs. The Sterling engine is exceptionally quiet and the “old” Gotland class subs can stay submerged for longer than 6 weeks while moving. The new Blekinge class (ready to set sail in 2024?) is said to take the tech a leap forward.
Germany has H2O subs ...
Haha, Saab-marine

Is saab made cars I think it made fighter aircraft
P8 i is submarine hunter for indian navy
The wokery(communism) is everywhere.
i am confused. You make cars not subs... Right?
Me to
Saab makes aircraft, subs and a lot of other military stuff like radars. They don't make cars anymore and they were making all these military stuff during their car period as well
@@simonlarsen6472 sad no cars
@@sankara2191 i mean, most of them are still around in the world, mostly in Sweden
@@simonlarsen6472 Yeah i live in Sweden but it is still sad
ok, so why does Australia need submarines?
We don't want to sink ships, USA wants to sink ships?
Does Australia need to protect against invasion? US is the only military in the world that has both the technology and methodology to mount an invasion. Does US want to invade Australia? And if so how does buying US/UK submarines protect Australia from a US invasion? Surely they would turn them off before they invaded?
China is put forward as an enemy but they do not have the capability to mount an invasion. They do have the capability to overwhelm the 4 submarines Australia looks like they will buy, i.e. if China was a threat but as we know it is the US that has the threat capability.
China is a trading partner, or was until the last Australian (LNP) PM made stupid threats against China (now echoed by the LNP opposition leader). Well they are still a trading partner and hopefully they will get over the stupid threats and insults now there is a new government in Australia.
But still why does Australia want to have submarines?
Hospitals and schools would be far more useful. We could teach kids that China is not the threat, well not as big a threat as the US. And we, maybe could treat mental illness such as the delusional thoughts expounded by the exp PM (Scott Morrison) and the current Opposition Leader (Peter Dutton) and the ex anti-vaxer member for Hughes (Craig Kelly).
I’d go whale hunting with two of these
Battle of longewala
so their main purpose is no longer to sink other ships? I am a share holder in SAAB, and I think this video is a poor example of how to gather intelligence. Try again, SAAB.
Sense there are no reliable way of communicating under water no one except for the crew know where the submarine is while it is submerged. Therefore recon is made with antennas above water and through sonar.
There you go.
@@felldin Yes, i reacted for example to the proposition: "their purpose has gone from sinking ships to playing an active roll..." I think they should have put sinking ships, gather intelligence, insert special operatives as at least equally important tasks för the submarine force.
Why don't you show spat 😄 the shareholders meeting ( it is open for all shareholders) and point out this fore the " top brass " ?
Shareholder in SAAB Automobil? Then you can wipe your as with them...
