  • “Wild Card: Downfall of a Radio Loudmouth” premieres Wednesday night at 9 p.m. on HBO and HBO MAX, chronicling the rise and fall of former WFAN morning host Craig Carton.
Martin Dunn and Marie McGovern, the filmmakers behind the documentary, joined the Boomer & Gio Show Tuesday morning to discuss the making of, and revealed that it was actually Carton’s idea, born out of him seeing the pair working on the life story of another New York icon.
“Really, Craig came to us; years ago we had met Craig briefly when we filmed a pilot for a sports chat show idea, and that day Craig was arrested, we reached out to him to support him,” McGovern said. “All he texted back was thanks, and it wasn’t until after his conviction but before his sentencing that he gave us a call. We were just finishing a Tom Seaver documentary, and he told us that if Seaver, a notoriously private man, could trust us to tell his story, he could trust us to tell his.”

I just watched the Documentary. Must watch. I know Craig personally and we Coached our Kids together in Baseball when he lived in HV, Pa. Great Dude with a Great Family. The Documentary May shock the people that know him and don’t know him which will explain why he did what he did.
    I wish him the Best

Was it true that there were two different Craig’s? The radio personality and the person and the person was the nicest guy ever?

Currently, all shows on the WFAN are unlistenable (except for Joe and Evan on my short drive home). If Craig goes to that time slot, I am done with this station (and I will not switch to ESPN). I hope the ratings suffer when he returns.

No disrespect to Gio he was a good replacement for Craig but there is no one like Craig carton on the radio , the comedy and entertainment he brought on the Air on a morning basis was on a whole nother level.

The molestation is brought in. Is it exculpatory? No. Are you guys trying to make it exculpatory. Yes. Wrenching moments & Craigy breaks down in tears. Suddenly the narrative is shifted to sympathy. Boomer is biting big time. Sounds like a feel sorry for me thing. Still Craig is a great comedy talent. But he's trolling for sympathy here. lol i do believe Anybody can see this whole thing is the Sympathy Train. All the stuff poor Craigy went through. Play a melancholy violin Sam. Etc. lol

Yeah I’d totally just say I was unwillingly getting banged out at a camp when I was eleven as an excuse instead of doing a full 3.5 yrs in prison as a first time offender as a nationality accredited radio host. Makes total sense man good point

@@silkcustoms520 Don't know Craig but I respect him. I believe he is a great talent in live on air sports oriented comedy. I listened to his morning show for years. He carried Boomer & Carton with the comedy. Great team they had then Boomer Carton Jerry Recko Al Dukes. Loved the Friday morning NFL show.

Not a fan of his at all only used to listen because of Boomer, also his problem is that he is trying to be Opie and Anthony instead of doing sports talk ,if that's what he wants to do he should go do it otherwise stick to sports
