    Awesome review! Do all riders need to connect their phones in order to communicate with each other?

    Are the speakers worth the $40 upgrade?? Can you tell a marked difference between the R1 evo speakers and the R2 evos??
    Thanks!

    Seriously, they need to get with the times and use USB C and MIPS.

    Hi, do you know whether it is possible to do firmware updates over the smartphone app? I know that for the R1 you have to have a PC (Windows or Mac) ... so with Android or iOS or Linux you were left out in the cold cold world of digital duality ...

    Now all they have to do in get Sena R2 EVO in stock. Unable to order them directly and resellers are not able to get them in the US. :(

      It's back in stock! Plus there's a new one now, called the R2X. It's just like the R2 EVO, except it has Amazon Alexa Built-In! If you have connected devices at home, like your garage door opener, or AC, you can tell the R2X to control it, while you're on the road! Pretty cool huh?

      @@LexAlbrechtx37 Thank you. I actually picked up the R2 EVO. One of the big disappointments on the R2 EVO is voice commands do not work. According to Sena they had to drop this functionality because of the "chip shortage". I find it interesting that the R2X supports Amazon Alexa. I wonder if that means that Sena brought back voice commands to that model. Kind if disappointed on the loss of voice commands and FM Radio on the R2 EVO as originally advertised by Sena.

    I am between the R2 and R2 EVO. I don't need to pair with more than 4 people. I see the R2 EVO has voice commands, is that something worth paying for?

    • @LexAlbrechtx37
      @LexAlbrechtx37  2 года назад +2

      The pairing of the R2 is easy if you pair only two riders. It gets pretty complicated when adding a third and fourth. Plus if any rider goes out of range they have to be repaired. With the R2 Evo, the use a connecting technology called "Mesh", and it will seek out other helmets with their Mesh on (the same channel) and pair automatically. They will re-pair automatically too if they go out of and come back into range with the group!

      I definitely love the EVO versions with the Mesh.

    Thanks for the review. Let us know how the mic and speakers sound on the road. Also, do you have availability date and pricing? The Sena website doesn't have it yet. Thanks

      Hi Jimmy! Thanks for the comment. The R2 Evo should be available in the USA either towards the end of this year or spring of 2022. (There's a shortage of the chips that go in the helmet (the same shortage that's causing trouble for many industries) which is delaying the launch. The sound quality is excellent, just like the R1 and R1 Evo. I adjust the volume with the buttons on the side to get the sound just right depending on the other ambient noises, like wind or a traffic around me. It's
      like using the shifters to change gears depending on the terrain you're riding on. Super easy and sleek. I love it!
      I am told it will cost $179 and be available in USA first.

    • @LexAlbrechtx37
      @LexAlbrechtx37  3 года назад

      It does meet all of the safety standards for North America, Europe and Korea. There are a few technologies that can meet these standards, and it's true that they didn't choose to use MIPS brand or the patented Wave Cell tech.
