We in general disregard mother nature so much. However, I also think that "speed" is the number one cause for injuries and any kind of damage cause. So important to keep mind at the pace one is comfortable with no matter what! Great video Nate, and great topic as usual. You always talk about important subjects that nobody else dares to even mention. Like that recent video to keep in shape and exercise since jobs a super demanding on our bodies. On the funny note, I dealed with back pain in the past and used a looooot of Bengay all the time. (that balm that warms up area affected). And then one time while at work I applied it and shortly after went to the bathroom to take a leak. Similar consequence like with your poison ivy. One to remember for sure. If I was not rushing my mid would have been so present and should knew not to do that. Stay safe and All the best. 👍💪👊
So so true my friend. I pulled the typical "Florida man" thing just the other day LOL. I needed a rack for my surface cleaner so i started welding and created what I needed however, my advice is to NOT weld while wearing flip flops and no shirt. I had several bead burns on my feet and a hell of a sun burn from the welder after I finished. I made a video so it should be pretty funny when I post it.
Hey Nate. Was listening to this while cleaning a multi story deck. Started at the top and worked down a few steps to make sure i was stepping onto clean/non slimy wood, decided that i might want to work the other way to be more efficient...aka rushing and ended up slipping down the stairs. Thought that was pretty ironic. Luckily i was able to complete the job and just had a few bruises, sprained ring finger, and the embarrassment of having a pressurewashing sccident while listening about...pressurewashing accidents 😂
My 2 cents…using an inexpensive shut off valve, from a big box store. I had it on my 12 volt soft wash pump hose. It blew! Hit me in the face along with 6% SH. Luckily I wear glasses, but I still got a face full, a little in 1 eye. A good scare, no real injuries. Lucky.
Great video a lot of people should watch this and take notes about moving slow and stop trying to be in a rush as often times that is when the most mistakes to me
Injuries sustained by fan raids. You did mention you once had white hair and was in a boy band. I’m guessing the name of the band was the bleach boys.😆 on a serious note, this is seriously good advice to take on board that can prevent serious injury 🙏 sometimes we only learn the hard way but still I haven’t learned. I’m always in a hurry, for what reason, is beyond me.
Thanks Tom. I think this stuff is extra pertinent for those of use who work by ourselves. Most of us can readily see when somebody ELSE is working in an unsafe manner - or even just going too fast - but when we're out there alone, there's nobody to point out the obvious. For me, it all starts with slowing down.
I 100% agree with you especially on the part about wearing a safety protection even when dealing with chemicals outside of normal working hours I went to put a 5 gallon container of SH in the back of my truck and when I put it down I don’t know how but the lid was closed and somehow liquid came up through a crevice of somewhere and splashed up into the air as high as my face was at the time I was lucky enough for it not to splash into my eye or my face. After that point every time I move a container I make sure I have glasses or my head is completely turned away for me if I can’t find the glasses.
Slow down for sure, but wearing proper basic PPE is a must. Good boots with ankle protection, proper gloves and clothing are a must for any kind of outside job.
@@OutsideCleaners the pleasure is all mine. You’re the real deal. You always tell it how it is the good the bad and the ugly. Keep up the great work, my friend. You’re an inspiration to say the least.
Powerwashing an area rug that I hung up under my deck. I didn't take the time to secure all four corners and used my hand instead. Pulled trigger, wand jumps, deep slice above my left thumb. Good news, it was a clean cut and made life a little easier for the doctor to sew it closed. Oh yea, no nerves were hit...Luckeeee. Love yourself enough to slow down and enjoy the process. PS Poison oak and ivy is an oil. If you use a wash cloth and Lava soap it will strip the Urushiol oil from your skin. ruclips.net/video/4oyoDRHpQK0/видео.html
@@hokimocus thanks for sharing the experience. Glad it wasn’t worse although it sounds bad enough. I’ve since learned to use a washcloth and dish soap and scrub myself thoroughly in the shower after possible exposure to poison Ivy etc. Game changer. 👍🏼
3:04 - I feel for you. I too was wearing "safety sandals" when I dropped my sawzall on my foot!
😬

Yep... a near miss. Lesson learned.

Looks like you have that longer toe that increases risk of ankle roll.
Wow that's news to me!
@@OutsideCleaners the one closest to the big toe is longer, right?
