    Cordelia really was the most developed Buffyverse character; makes me sad how she got treated by Joss towards the end.

    • @ashtynbritt7889

      No shade to Queen Cordy by any means- but I'd argue Wesley was the most developed character.

      Spike?

    • @ashtynbritt7889
      @ashtynbritt7889 2 года назад +13

      @@chriscommons7915 Spike is for sure up there (and a personal second imo) but personality wise he's been essentially the same. Now, his redemption arc is still EPIC and some good development, but there is no denying that Wesley from his first appearance in buffy to the last episode of Angel may as well be almost two entitely different characters. It was almost like watching a nerdy kid grow up into this hard tragic badass grown up.

      @ashtynbritt7889 The thing with Wes is that it doesn't feel nearly as organic, he's the most clear example of the "jossed" trope. Cordelia and Spike by contrast retain their core personality traits throughout.

    Cordy was the heart and show of Angel. Her character really grew on Angel. Angel was more adult and perhaps too dark by season 4. But still, I love both shows. It's sad what Whedon did to Carpenter. Nowadays, if she was fired for wanting a baby. She could easily win a lawsuit.

    • @JoshuaKevinPerry
      @JoshuaKevinPerry Год назад

      I'd take Spike in S5 over Charisma. Kinda hard to argue she was fired for having a baby when she spends s4 as her pregnant self.

    • @lindseystein9676
      @lindseystein9676 Год назад +1

      I think it would be difficult to win a lawsuit like that without some kind of explicit mention of pregnancy before a subsequent firing. From what charisma has said, Whedon actions were more underhanded and covert. Like writing out of character plot lines, bad plot lines, things like that. Kind of hard to prove his motivations

    Cordelia's never ending visions moment was a mirror to Buffy's hearing thoughts moment. It was overwhelming and intensely empathizing. She and Buffy are nvr the same after that and make it thir mission to help others.

    Always loved Cordy. I love that she is written to be the typical girl you aren't supposed to like, but you do want to root for her. Her dialogue is so sharp!

    She quickly became one of my favorites because yeah, she could be a bitch at the start--but when she wasn't doing that she was always frank and honest. She didn't mince around other people's feelings and she got to the point quicker than anyone else, helping them to move to a solution quicker in dire situations when everyone else was frozen. I find it telling that in the episode where someone can read minds everyone is thinking something different than what they say--often drastically so. Except Cordelia. She said EXACTLY what she thought. Because she doesn't lie, if she thinks you fucked up she'll say so, if she thinks you did a good job she'll say it too.
    Basically she's no nonsense. And that's just in "Buffy", I haven't seen "Angel."

    Cordeila had one of the best character development on the show. At the start I hated her for being so bitchy but by the end of the her life I cried when she died. Charisma is a great actress because she show the maturity and development of her character.

    Props for being one of the only notable videos up for Cordelia, but in Angel is where she really shined as a character, and I think he story is worth exploring so much more

    Cordy provided so much fun to Btvs and Angel too, superbly performed by Carpenter, and was excellently developed too - right up until s4 of the latter show. A real shame how that went, though she got a fine sendoff in the final run.

    • @barbarabaker1457
      @barbarabaker1457 2 года назад

      I love her and for what it's worth, I don't think she's overlooked at all if you ever read any of the fan comments on all the reactors the most praised is Cordelia, followed immediately by Anya followed by a relatively even mix of Buffy, Spike, Faith and Giles, Wesley and Fred. In point of fact, of all the characters, she's the hardest to prevent spoiling a reactor for, because nobody can resist defending her when she is still technically the little bad and the reactor can't possibly know she has deeper layers yet beyond the obvious. Wesley is number two for spoiler difficulty.

    Cordelia is one of those Characters that you start out hating then becoming a Character you root for. It was Shame what the Writers did to her Character on the 4th season of Angel and yes they did sort of redeem her on one episode of the 5th season but ultimately killed her off.

    I think alot of people don't understand that Cordelia is on the show to remind us who Buffy was.🧏🧏🧏 I think it's mostly because we don't get hardly any scenes of Pre vampire slayer Buffy. 🤔. I get why Joss chose to not make Buffy into a idiotic dumb blonde stereotype for the show. Nobody would care about Buffy if she were that. It works better having Buffy be more mature and willing to be friends with the outcasts like Willow and Xander. 🧏💯 I doubt the show would've lasted 7 years if Buffy arrived in Sunnydale as a vapid airhead😂. I mean I love Regina George but this show predates the movie mean girls.🧏 A stuck up, mean girl version of Buffy just wouldn't work for a television show. The goal of Buffy The Vampire Slayer is to make you care about Buffy. That's why we have Cordelia present in the first 3 seasons. 🧏💯 She serves as a reminder of who Buffy started out as. I think my favorite aspect of the two characters is how Cordelia respects Buffy and Buffy decently respects Cordelia..🙄😂. sure the two face off from time to time over Egotistical homecoming queen non sense but for the most part their friendship is based on a mutual understanding of each other. Cordelia knows Buffy has her back. Buffy knows Cordelia.. 😏 well she hopes Cordelia will have her back. 😂. I also hate when fans complain about Cordy being stupid. 🙄. She's not stupid. She just values trivial things like fashion and expensive things. Cordelia is actually a very intelligent character. She fully understand how to be a leader. . She sometimes says very intelligent things. The visions allow Cordy to mature into a Buffy style character. Before she inherits the visions Cordy has experienced minor upsets nothing major during her life. Once she receives the visions she starts to see what's really out there. People in pain. 🧏💯. People suffering. People with no hope of survival. It really puts her life into perspective and she realizes why Buffy and Angel care Soo much about helping the helpless. . She's a very important character in Buffy. A lot of male fans hate her. 🤔. The non stop vision attack that lands her in the hospital is my favorite part of Angel season 1. It's a pivotal moment in her Development. Once her eyes we're forced to see all the worlds suffering she realizes how important she is in the fight against the forces of darkness. She's the "Vision Girl" 😂😂

    Your videos are on par with Passion of the Nerd in terms of analysis (he is my favorite of RUclips). I know we live in a world of 10 minutes or less of concentration but I think you should go a little deeper, especially with Cordelia, in your analysis. Also, the eyes on screen are distracting. I don't know why, but I feel like A Clockwork Orange by the end. I haven't listened to Beethoven yet so....
