No one, absolutely no one make reviews like you Sam!!!! how you elaborate and describe everything makes complete sense, I felt what you said word by word...... it doesn't matter the album has been out for some time, we needed a review full of emotions and we thank you for that!
I appreciate all the Morgoth love! I always thought that was a band that went underappreciated. Great stuff! Any comparison to them will give me to check out this record. Thanks for the excellent review!
Completely nailed this review on all points. Glad you brought up how the album is backloaded with killer tracks towards the end as well. Found this and Empire State bastard the same day a month ago and those 2 have been my go tos since.
Boy it’s a shame if people don’t already know who Marc Grewe is! He is so great with Insidious Disease as well…I think Marc and Brett Hoffman from Malevolent Creation are both under appreciated death metal legends on the vocals
Finally some recognition for Marc Grewe and especially Morgoth. Their first two ep's were untouchable (and still are :). They hit a bull'seye (imho) with Cursed, just to throw me away with Odium (Same with Ungod). I keep pestering people how Unleash The Archers "borrowed" their intro for Awakening from Morgoth's intro of Selected Killing :P
Wow, I totally missed this one. I still really love Morgoth. Their first, along with the first Unleashed are a couple of the albums that really got me back into the more extreme side of metal. I'm going to have to get this, for sure. Thanks, Sam! Good to have you back, too!
This album, together with Carnation's Cursed Mortality, are my favorites of the year so far. The more I listen to both albums, the more I appreciate the simple yet intriguing songwriting.
Great review as always and an excellent album, if you enjoy some old school Swedish death metal with genuine Martin Van Drunen vocals check out Rotten Casket Zombicron. 😁🤟
I loved Morgoths first couple albums back in the day. ALways felt he was underrated vocally & so stoked to hear this bad ass album. And that buzz saw guitar vibe? so good all around
In a danish podcast Flemming Poulsen talked about loosing his friend Lars-Göran Petrov (Entombed) to cancer. The day LG died, he called Fleming (to say goodbye) but Flemming was to busy to take the telefone. He did not have the opportunity to say goodbye to his old friend. In the same way, he always wanted to make real death metal album again, but was to busy with Volbeat. The dead of LG (and the corina downtime) gave him the motivation to write ASINHELL Impii Hora a tribute to his friend and his roots. RIP and stay heavy.
Ive just jammed this today. First impressions are that it could be my surprise album of the year! Im surprised that it hasnt been talked about more tbh.
In a Danish interview Michael Poulsen explained that got a calling from the late L G Petrov. They were friends and when he passed away, it made Poulsen start getting serous about the Asinhell album.
I checked this out because I heard Michael Poulsen was part of it and became hooked the first time I heard it. It's practically a new Death record and I'm in no way mad about that.
I've been a fan of Volbeat for years, but you can tell Michael Poulsen was getting to commercial with the recent albums. Their last one got a little heavier, but not what I wanted and I get people want to evolve artistically and try new things. So, you can hear a little of Michael's death metal urges creep out a little bit in the last Volbeat album and when I heard Asinhell for the first time, WOW! I could sense this is what Michael was trying to get out of his system. Utterly fantastic album!
Really cool review!. And true.. a monster album. But a/b testing it against new Bloodbath shows how insane of a band Bloodbath is... But this is a luxury situation to be in... we get asinhell and bloodbath at the same point in time....
I'm a little surprised Sepultura was not mentioned. For me it's much more like early Sepultura than Death, but whatever. Awesome album, instant favorite!
I can't get into this. I love the idea behind it. However, this is the hardrock version of "death metal". This is NOT old school anything, let alone death metal. It's not good.
When Sam gives a 5/5, you gotta give it a listen!🤘
Sam wasn't kidding about this album. It's a BANGER!!!! 10/10
No one, absolutely no one make reviews like you Sam!!!! how you elaborate and describe everything makes complete sense, I felt what you said word by word...... it doesn't matter the album has been out for some time, we needed a review full of emotions and we thank you for that!
Huge vibes of Entombed, Dismember, and even old school At The Gates! Definitely going to spin this several times before the end of the year!
I appreciate all the Morgoth love! I always thought that was a band that went underappreciated. Great stuff! Any comparison to them will give me to check out this record. Thanks for the excellent review!
Great to see Sam reviewing an album again.

Awesome stuff, cheers for the heads up!

Spot on! Great review 👍🤘

I had the pleasure to hear them live before TOOL and they were insanely good! Amazing concert :)
I'm glad this album is getting some traction.and not alone in thinking aoty.
Ive just jammed this today. First impressions are that it could be my surprise album of the year! Im surprised that it hasnt been talked about more tbh.
When Sam is recommending an album you gotta listen to it, thanks man, you rule!
I found this on Apple Music last month and it hasn’t left my Playlist!! Definitely a Banger 🔥👍👍🤘🤘
Surprised Sam reviewed this so highly, it came out in September and seems like it didn't make much of an impact... this makes me want to check it out!
In a Danish interview Michael Poulsen explained that got a calling from the late L G Petrov. They were friends and when he passed away, it made Poulsen start getting serous about the Asinhell album.
First thought I had on the vocals having not heard Morgoth before was that I was hearing Matti from Dismember. Great throwback death metal listen.
I liked a record from a band called Onheil. I was on my AOTY
Yeah it’s always super awesome to see you. You’re like the OG.
I really like this album, its so good, I hope there will be another one in the future
Holy shot! I don't think ive listened to Morgoth in at least 10 years. Totally forgot about them too
I checked this out because I heard Michael Poulsen was part of it and became hooked the first time I heard it. It's practically a new Death record and I'm in no way mad about that.
Nice review 🤘🤘. Strong album and a contender for AOTY for me along with Century - Conquest of Time.
Thank you for this gem!!!! I feel death and pestilence had a child
Yall need ro review the new suffocation album. Its great. I mean youve reviewed every other legacy dm act this year. Autopsy, cryptopsy, etc etc
I've been a fan of Volbeat for years, but you can tell Michael Poulsen was getting to commercial with the recent albums. Grewe always delivered sick dm vocals. In my ears, he's always been up there with the greatest.
When Sam said "...remember Morgoth?" I actually yelled at my screen "Yessss, I never stopped listening to them!"
Sam Dunn is a metal leader. Giving something a 5/5 is metal! WTG! Can't wait to check this out.
I found it late, but I play it all the time now. Even got the vinyl. 🤘
I also get modern vibes death metal from this. I hear Dyscarnate, a little Throwdown, Misery Index etc.
Really cool review!. And true.. a monster album. But a/b testing it against new Bloodbath shows how insane of a band Bloodbath is...
But this is a luxury situation to be in... we get asinhell and bloodbath at the same point in time....
A surprise for sure, but a welcome one!
Honestly, I liked it when it was released back in September, but after a few weeks I started feeling like it didn't hold up and I forgot about it.
I'm a little surprised Sepultura was not mentioned. For me it's much more like early Sepultura than Death, but whatever. Awesome album, instant favorite!
we missed you papa sam i thought you're dunn making reviews
I'm a simple man. I see Sam in the thumbnail, I click on the video. Always a pleasure to get a review from the godfather.
Check out Morgoth’s Resurrection Absurd, if you wanna hear Grewe’s vocals in his early days!!! Absurdly killer !!
Top album! Death Metal as it should be and what a great performance from Marc. His best vocals since Morgoths Cursed! 🔥
Isolated would be my favorite Morgoth song. Asinhell delivered it. The ultimate OSDM album is Massacre's From Beyond.
Brutal!!!!
I listened to the album, minutes before checking the review. I agree, brilliant but very short
very very very good album
bolt thrower would be proud
been a while since i've listened to pestilence dammit.
for the record, it's great. cant go wrong with some old school death metal.
Hear alot of misery index in the album too
Definitely
Reminds me of jungle rot
Dammit I can’t afford this right now! Oh well what’s a little more debt…
Funny pronounciation of Marcs name 😁
Легендарный🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
They sound a lot like Jungle Rot....
Check out Baest

My comment is 665. Make it 666!

There's always one
