I remember this being broadcast just before i started my life as a Council employee aged 18 , i had to go and have a medical the day after this was broadcast. Never forgotten it , a brilliant play , be great if the full play could be shown. Thanks so much for posting , really brought good memories.
@@Roscoe.P.Coldchain I had 38 years , and got early retirement at 56, been a gardener ever since and still working. Almost a job for life as you say, but it got a bit crap at the end and i was glad to get out.
Thanks for this been looking for it for ages as i was born and bred in Notts (i now live in Manchester) Shame you tube wont allow the full episode though.Love all your channel content.
Recognised the Barton Transport coach immediately. That was our local bus company - rebranded some years back when they merged with Trent to form Trent Barton. They did loads of excursions. You can clearly see the telephone number on the back of the bus when it pulls away @ 2:07. This was transmitted 2/4/69.
Their local 'Mustard Pot' Pub was actually 'The Plumptre Arms' in an area of Nottingham called 'The Meadows'.There were very few Nottingham Accent attempts by the Actors - which grated on my Nottingham (Meadows) bred Ear.
I remember watching this play in 1969 when I lived in Stoke. In particular I was impressed with the attention to detail, and the superb array of British character actors.Later in the play there is an interesting musical theme that develops. It develops with some type of organ to begin with.I think (?)Occasionally I have heard it attached to other TV pieces,BUT have no idea what it is called, who wrote it,nor who performed it.Does anyone know the music in question?
I was 10 in 1969,but I think I watched this, only bit I remember is someone met a girl and wanted a ring that wouldn't turn green, didn't most of them stay in Blackpool or am I thinking of a different play?
I remember when this was first broadcast.... sadly not ever likely to be repeated because of the un-PC comments made on the bus about minorities. Very good play though. PLEASE upload the rest of it if possible! :)

Could you upload more of this as a “part 2” maybe?
Brilliant drama with Michael Bates,Joe Gladwin, Warren Clarke, George Layton, Johnny Wade etc
Where can I watch the full thing?
Wish we could see more of this, thanks for uploading, I don't suppose it's available on DVD at all ?.
Any possibility that you could upload the complete play by any chance? Please.
I believe it is accessible from the British Film Institute archives. (BFI)
