    Down to earth acting, the characters are true to life, even the children were so real without any dialog.

    Yes the 1960's episodes are very good however if you watch an episode from the early to mid 1970`s you could be forgive for thinking you were watching a totally different series.

      @@Robert_Manners I like most iterations of Z Cars (and Softly Softly). I prefer the petty crime ones the most, where there's a lot of social realism. The John Hopkins scripts have the human element. 70's Z Cars from what I've seen gets a bit more into murders and fantastical sorts of things serialized over a few episodes,. But there are gems in there, the episode with the lady who makes too many police reports, that everyone is out to get her and Lynch gets involved when he's a supervisor, that's a good 70's one.

      It was supposed to end at the end of 1965 but the BBC couldnt find a decent replacement so it came back about 15 months later as the BBC couldnt find a suitable replacement but very few of the original cast returned and the likes of Brady and Blessed didnt last too much longer either. It was basically a different show

    Why do they call them " Z Cars '. Were they the first patrol cars with 2 way radios?

    • @lyndaballam7386
      @lyndaballam7386 11 месяцев назад

      The title comes from the radio call signs allocated by Lancashire Constabulary. Lancashire police divisions were lettered from north to the south: "A" Division (based in Ulverston) was the detached part of Lancashire at the time around Barrow-in-Furness, "B" Division was Lancaster, and so on (see Home Office radio). The TV series took the non-existent signs Z-Victor 1 and Z-Victor 2.

    • @lizdoyle7158
      @lizdoyle7158 2 года назад

      I was there in 1960s the police were excellent crime was much lower than today police methods are too
      Soft in 2022 fewer police on the streets they only arrive when crimnals are gone to much dependence on dash footage
      And cameras from the general public to solve crimes if you see police on the streets its less likely people will commit
      Crimes if they see cameras they wil take no notice yeah the police on the beat is better than police on a seat

    • @indigohammer5732
      @indigohammer5732 2 года назад +1

      Now when you call the Police, they won't come, they'll give you a "crime number" whereby you can phone them only to be told your crime isn't important enough or haven't the manpower. Write something on twitter, and they'll kick your door in and haul you off for "reeducation".
