Z Cars “Waste” Season 9, Episode 16, aired 25 February 1974. Lewis Collins as Derek Cunningham; Ian Cullen as Det. Con. Skinner; Douglas Fielding as PC Quilley; Bob Peck as Clive Parsons; Peter Schofield as Matthew Cunningham; Marjorie Yates as June Cunningham.
I have a feeling Marjorie Yates would later appear in an episode of The Professionals entitled "The Madness of Mickie Hamilton" playing Mickie's worried sister.
Amazing the number of well known faces who were in series like Z Cars and later tThe Bill before they were famous - Lewis AND Bob Peck in this episode alone! Lewis should have become at least as well known a star internationally as Bob Peck did, if not bigger - probably would have done had he been American (or played Americans - works for Liam Neeson and Gerald Butler!)
the only trouble with this episode is we dont know what the crime was lewis collins character might have done or witnessed? i would like to have known. this should have carried onnthe storyline to another episode. more questions than answers the criminal they looking for could have beeen the way in to this storyline what happens at the end distract from the main storyline. filmed in bbc birmingham might be when there was a strike on.
Actually, a Constable may conduct a unwarranted search at time if they've relative grounds for suspicion. Their behaviour is very suspicious so that's relative grounds and if you don't believe me, I can find you the relative legislation to prove it
Today it's been 5 years ago that left us an amazing and unique and so beautiful, humorous guy like Lew. Rest in peace.
Fantastic actor and man rip lewis Collins my idol
Lovely lovely man one of the best... see you in the new world Lewis ....
Lewis is brilliant as Derek and makes the character incredibly believable and likable. The actors playing his parents are very good too.

I like shows of this era for the old cars and trucks.
Not much in this one..beep beep
Is that Atlantean in the opening credits a pdr series or AN68?
What a beautiful man and a remarkable talent RIP Lewis
Thank you so much for sharing!!! Fascinating to see Collins in this role!
Cracking story - didn't see that coming!
THE LATE GREAT LEWIS COLLINS BRILLIANT 🌈🙏😎📽️📺
That was brilliant acting Lewis r.i.p Lewis you was always like an uncle to me and dave and my late sister jill.

Indeed. Playing his mum and only about five years his senior.
Wow, and Bob Peck...lovely guy. Also gone too young.
Interesting to see Collins, usually a Hard Man,playing a vulnerable and gentle character. And he does very well in the role, too.
Hard man nice joke!
Softer than a marshmallow.
Biggest joke in TV land
I was thinking of the roles he tended to be offered,Who Cares Wins, professionals, etc.
funny ending, good art
Remember watching this when it was first shown. Didn't realise it was Lewis Collins....show's his versatility as an actor.
It reminds me very much of Parkins Patch. Thanks for uploading ☺
Great series, but the episodes were far too short.
Z cars the original heartbeat
I just realized that the Billy Bragg song "To Have and Have Not" sounds a lot like the ZCars theme.

His apparent acting debut on TV or film.
Two English people. 40 cans of Heinz Beans. 'Bout right.
Lol
Part of the cold war secret weapons program.

Great storyline
He would have made a Great Bond
Came cio5e
The best definitely
I like the Ford Escort mk1 police cars and Pye Pocketfones
RIP Douglas Fielding.
Mr. Cunningham couldn't find enough bats, that's why he's balding.
The plot reminded me of the episode of Only fools and Horses when Rodney hid when he thought he'd attacked a woman. 😅
The total intrusion, aarrrrgggghhhhhh
god could she act any more suspicious?? Looking guilty, saying stupid things, glancing upstairs, geez.
Famous in his own lunch box!
A brief episode description wouldn't go amiss
So many wrongs from the two cops. No warrant, refusal to leave, illegal search etc etc.

S8E16 25 February 1974 Waste
Classic
Bob Peck!
Haha the police got away with liberties way back. Have a bath Alec and bring yer bird back if yer like there's a spare bed.
Thank god for American search and seizure laws
this is so unrealistic...
I remember watching as a youth...
but watching now, I see how pathetically bad it was
ridiculous dialog, cardboard actors.
bollix !
@@MrMansun95 sorry
Don't talk such nonsense, this is quality acting
