@@seymoarsalvage Imagine discrediting an engine swap because it's something YOU don't like. Nevermind the fact his main videos are focused on body swapping a Z that was due for a crusher. People wonder what's wrong with car culture today...

Hi Steve - you are likely going to be asked about that hose removal tool. You may want to add an affiliate buy it link in the description.

Thanks for sharing this video. I'm getting ready to drop the fuel tank from my '76 to pull my rear bumper strut. You're video has me better prepared and a little less tentative with the tank removal.

10 yrs ago I started doing some work on my 83ZX which has an extremely clean tan interior w 50k miles but sadly has underbody rust and dropped the tank as well… then life happened and still sits waiting for me to get back to it .

Good video. I agree with some of the earlier comments, it would be interesting to see more videos of this car. I think that the 240/260/280Z series was one that most of your viewers have had some connection to one or more of the models of this car.

    • @davidbeaumont4455

These cars are worth a fair amount to someone, even in terrible shape. I thought that most for them were available on the aftermarket.
I’ve owned a couple of these back when they were common. So much fun! Even better de-federalized and lowered to a proper height!
Also ditch the bumpers for 240z skinny bumpers.
Speaking of bumpers. If they are original it makes that one a 77 or 78 model!
Fix the tank!! You can do it!!

@@davidbeaumont4455 it is a '77 as the spare tire cover angles up towards the hatch. The spare tire cover was flat to the taillight panel in '78.

There are at least 2 videos on RUclips showing rusty fuel tanks being strapped to cement mixers and having small amounts of gravel inside, to clean out inner rust. If they're a bit thin, electrolysis could be used to restore some metal inside. On the other hand, $400 might be worth it to avoid the work.
