one thing I noticed right off the bat is that signal is "stable" this will be a great machine of its own outside of the NOX lineup. if this sells cheaper than the NOXs like its predecessor the XTerraPro, then we have a winner here! for those who doesn't need to tinker the machine for advance adjustments this will be a good candidate...question is, are the NOX lineup gonna be scrap in the next 5 yrs since Minelab kept mixing machine up for small upgrades then sell/rename them in a NEW machine.
The technology world changes so fast. I think of these as iPhones. 5 years is a long lifespan. These days if a company waits that long they could easily be passed by the competition. Machines are getting better and cheaper. 👍
Nicely done Iffy. One thing I don't get. Why would anyone buy a detector that has same specifications and costs the same as an equinox 600, with less features? Isn't it supposed to be cheaper than it's counterpart 600 also has selectable frequency along with multi-iq, while this detector only has 15khz and multi. Thanks again
Im surprised the 600/800 are still in the lineup, I thought they would be gone by now. You are getting the updated (faster) processor, new Iron Bias, and 99 vdi with this machine. Much better shaft setup on this one as well.
@@IffySignals Plus the new X-Terra Elite is subermsible to 16’ and the Equinox 600 had well-known leaking issues preventing it from exposing it to water to avoid damage… As you said, really suprised it hasn’t yet been pulled from the lineup, btut I anticipate they will soon than later as there really is more need for the Equinox 600 to be in their offerings. But if someone already owns one and doesn’t use it in the wet and it works well for them in parks and fields, they may as well run it until they are ready to step up to a newer detector. I expect the X-Terra Elite to be a very popular detector and good seller for Minelab.
AN excellent review, IFFY !! Your video of the operation and settings was well done and for the most part is a very familiar nomenclature of Minlab’s family of detectors. As I mentioned in a reply here in the comment section, I expect the new X-Terra Elite to be a good seller for Minelab.
@@IffySignals And yes, I did purchase one, too good of a deal on a well thought out SMF detector. I went with the Expedition Pack that included both the V12X and V8X coils ,the ML85 Wireless Headphones, and of course a very capable feature-rich Platform that is based on the Nox 900.
Very good, Went thru it a bit fast for my 70 year old brain, but stop and reverse again and again I did catch on. I know more now than I did an hour ago. Thank you very much I think I am ready to go coin shooting with the Grandkids now, I think!
Greetings and thanks! Issues: the bottlecap racket thingy? Does the TID screen blank out when accessing the the settings such as switching the audio functions between 5t At & Dp? Not being able to switch frequencies while inside the settings menu? No access to the TID screen while changing the Recovery speed? One way only cursor movement inside the settings menu? Same as the XT Pro? If you take the time to experiment with those features I think you might find an amazing amount of capability within the XT Pro. The sublte differences expose unwanted trash quite handily. We meed Hot Swap access to the controls in order use all the capabilities already inherent in the XT Pro. Rapid switching of frequencies and cross checking in different settings will save the operator monumental amount of time digging garbage. Efficiency increases are certain to gain more respect and sell more detectors than hype.
Its setup the same as the X pro and Equinox series, you can switch frequencies on the fly from the home screen. Its either multi or 15khz. Thanks for all the feedback.
Great informative video. How does it compare to the 700? With the free PF40 that ships with the nox 700, it's close price wise. The one thing that puts me off the 700 though, is that the gold mode has just been blanked off, instead of three larger mode icons we have on the elite. It's like a reminder that you couldn't afford the 900!
Do you plan on using single frequencies? If yes get the TS, it has more single options. if you are only going to use multi then the Elite. I like the tones and 99 (non ferrous) vdi scale of the elite. The TS has a 60 vdi scale but the first 10 are the iron range.

It was an easy decision really, great detector loaded with features expected in a machine manty times it’s cost, plus with included V12X Coil with Skidplate, the V8X Coil with Skidplate and the ML-85 Wireless headphones in the Expedition Pack makes it an even better value.
Any suggestions for how to set up machine for detecting at beach in dry sand and surf about knee deep at most? I was told if I was hunting for gold rings that I should always dig pull tabs, but how do I know the difference between a tab and anything else? I'm a complete novice and need as much detailed information as possible. Thanks!
Hey Watchdog, welcome to the hobby. For the Elite you can pop it in beach mode and go. If you put on tracking GB that will help with the transition from dry to wet and vice versa. At the beach you can run a low recovery speed of 1 for more depth and an IF of 1 or 2 to help with bottlecaps. Good luck 👍

Have you had a chance to run the elite through the masking blocks yet? I would be very interested to see how it does on the harder blocks compared to how say the legend or the 900 did. Those tests will stay a lot as you previously tested the xtp pro and it didn't do so well in the iron. Hopefully this will do better at unmasking.
With the Elite its one button. You can make it one button as well with the D2 by making two custom programs next to each other. One with iron on and one with off. I like hearing the iron but there is a benefit to using both. With iron volume off if a ferrous target is popping a non ferrous tone you are not going to get as much info with it off. We see the impact of running it on as the ferrous ID over riding the non ferrous on tougher tests. Having 2 programs on the D2 will make it easy to switch back and forward and as for the Elite its as easy as hitting the horse shoe button.
Can’t afford the Noxs sadly, but I can afford this machine soon . So I’m really excited that it’s getting such great reviews.. thank you for a great video ..
@@andruw-tz6ez - It's a good machine so far for me. I'm currently using it with the 15 inch coil. Not easy to pinpoint using it. Other than that, I've found lots of coins and 925 silver rings with it.
@@hoggeto It’s probably frequency related. The gold modes on Equinox use higher frequencies than the other modes. The Xtera doesn’t have gold modes so it’s probable that the coils don’t have the same winding??
The 600 has a couple more single freq to chose from currently. Other than that the Elite has a better shaft, newer tech, more features like the light and vibration,.. and better iron filters.
Why is Minelab not telling us what the multi frequency are they did on the 800 and 900 . And Nokta does also. If its the same as the 700 that would be good . I would like to know before i buy one.
My Xterra pro hangs with my legend and actually found some cool stuff with the Xterra in a spot I went over with the legend with for hours. This seems interesting
I had both machines also but found the Xterra pro actually perform better then my legend. Who would have thought that? My xtp would hit on coins my legend passed over so that was the end of that for half the price. Very interested to see the in-depth test on this machine now.
@@IffySignals multifrequency is not the solution to all problems, i don't think there will be a huge difference with identical coils! it would be interesting to compare, pro on 15kHz, and elite on multi...

@@Artus_rapmusic that will all depend on your soil and settings. They are both deep punching machines. I would say neck and neck in my soil but i cant do a fair comparison of depth because i only have the 12” for the Elite and 9” for the D2.
Open Architecture ... Not enough can said in praise of it. Working the lower conductor segments the XT Pro operator will notice that Dp spit on the aluminum trash while going through the roitine 3 frequency check routine. For a finer analysis switching to Recovery 1 makes the spit even clearer particularly with the V8X coil since there is evidently no Plug 'N Play specific software calibration for that coil. At that point the operator would probably like to check it in all 3 frequencies again. To do so requires lengthy proceedures to get back to the taget ID screen which blacks out in the Settings Menu. Just a low down dirty dog shame.
This is a mid priced machine About 479.00 the nox 700 is the next machine up then the nox 900 then the manticore.the 600 and 800 will be phased out from production eventually
XT Pro contains extreme discrimination capabilities but to use them requires very unnecessarily awkward and unnecessarily slow adjustment procedures all which could occur "on the fly" within the Settings menu. It's the lack of attentiveness of the software developer and others at Minelab in part and also a lack of attentiveness of the Minelab user community for bringing these issues to light that are to blame. I can't imagine a producer of a product intentionally choking of a products inherent, already there capabilities but that could be the case here. Does Minelab fully understand the machines they produce?

Plus the coil. The v12 coils are better built than the standard 11 inch coils...

what a good happy medium to keep your threshold at?
I just use a very low hum. I like it on the MLs because it’s a true Threshold that breaks when the target is discriminated.

700 has a couple more features, and carbon fiber shaft. Lol on the reminder.

Hey Iffy, if using 5 tone, can you tell me what vdi numbers fall in each of the 5 tone brackets?
using my 900 to check so not sure if they align. 1 ends at 0, 2nd at 20, 3rd at 56, 4th at 84.

Hey Steve, yes. It flies through the blocks. They gave us that -1 iron bias that really helps unmasking.

How does this compare to the Minelap Vanquish 540?
Faster processor, waterproof, tone options, recovery speed, iron bias.. much better.

Notice more consistent/stable numbers over the X-Terra Pro overall?…seems like it does.

Multi IQ range is the same 600-900 and Elite. Nokta Legend and Score series has the same spectrum as well.

Elite is much better. Pro is single frequency. Being Multi the Elite lets you use Iron Bias and really helps unmask targets.

Full multi IQ range in Multi and a Single of 15khz not as many singles as the new Tripple.

@@Artus_rapmusic that will all depend on your soil and settings. They are both deep punching machines. I would say neck and neck in my soil but i cant do a fair comparison of depth because i only have the 12” for the Elite and 9” for the D2.

Open Architecture ... Not enough can said in praise of it. Working the lower conductor segments the XT Pro operator will notice that Dp spit on the aluminum trash while going through the roitine 3 frequency check routine. For a finer analysis switching to Recovery 1 makes the spit even clearer particularly with the V8X coil since there is evidently no Plug 'N Play specific software calibration for that coil. At that point the operator would probably like to check it in all 3 frequencies again. To do so requires lengthy proceedures to get back to the taget ID screen which blacks out in the Settings Menu. Just a low down dirty dog shame.

This is a mid priced machine About 479.00 the nox 700 is the next machine up then the nox 900 then the manticore.the 600 and 800 will be phased out from production eventually

XT Pro contains extreme discrimination capabilities but to use them requires very unnecessarily awkward and unnecessarily slow adjustment procedures all which could occur "on the fly" within the Settings menu. It's the lack of attentiveness of the software developer and others at Minelab in part and also a lack of attentiveness of the Minelab user community for bringing these issues to light that are to blame. I can't imagine a producer of a product intentionally choking of a products inherent, already there capabilities but that could be the case here. Does Minelab fully understand the machines they produce?
