- ( www.alltfl.com/ ) Check out our new spot to find ALL our content, from news to videos and our podcasts! We've been testing out the cheapest new car in America, the Kandi K27, and it hasn't exactly been a great experience so far...but what happens when you try to road trip it into a big city like Denver? Nathan finds out what the experience is like (hint, it's still pretty terrible)!

Nathan’s deadpan delivery of his observations regarding this POS is absolutely hilarious - which in no way detracts from the review of this electric turd. Thanks!
Awesome comment 😂
It does a job - it’s not meant make you look bigger!😂
So the Kandi its (allegedly) the cheapest electric car out there in America, but happens its the most expensive car when you factor the need of purchasing a Rivian R1T and a trailer following you everywhere when the car breaks every 15 mins. Interesting!
Of course, if you watched the "drive home" episode, it didn't actually break down. They didn't do a full charge and then ran the battery out of power. The second time it "broke" they got the components wet when washing it.
Definitely should get a car wet. @@mikep490
That Chinese golf cart is probably one of the few cars actually worse than a Yugo.
Would be super cool if they could jailbreak it and get that top speed.
I predict Nathan will purchase the car in this ongoing series👍
For what it’s worth, Kandi is selling golf carts at Lowe’s. Probably more reliable. Definitely easier to tow.
It must be nice having your own Tow Vehicle follow you around as you commute a lowly 30-ish miles...
That is just so practical.
Nathan did not break it! And it made it to Denver. The question is will it make it back to Bolder? Maybe it all down hill to to Denver and the way home is all up hill. I want to see the return trip and if that little matchbox bar can actually make a round trip. (Maybe now that the car is being driven, the battery and all its make it go stuff is getting woke up and now performing as intended.)
The REAL question is can you put 35s on the Kandi? I would love to see you lift it and see the biggest tires you can put on it. Pimp the Kandi!
What about the return trip?
You should go back on that charge to see if it really had two thirds of the range.
Yeah NO way it really did
😂😂
@@TFLcar I would love to see a full battery rundown test!
The Kandi makes the Bukhanka look like a reasonable and reliable alternative Comrade Andriski
It looks like across between a Fiat 500 and a Mini Cooper.
That's exactly how I see it too!
@@volvo09No. It’s a complete copy of the Daihatsu Cast from Japan. I think the body shell is a complete copy of it.
I think buy driving it and charging it a few times it will recondition and relearn the battery packs, from it not being used for so long, that is what got it all out of whack...I think you all will be pleasantly surprised at how well this little car will do..
A golf cart with integrated HVAC.😃
It only needed few days on the charger to balance the batteries that were sitting still for many months. Now it works just fine.
Yeah I wanna see this confirmed
@@tarfeef101I wish they would acknowledge this.
It is October and you are both in t-shirts!
S o C = Size of Casket. 😅
Now imagine an electric vehicle (BMW i3) with 150 mile range, having to drive 100 round trip, but in Minnesota winter, heater/defrost, lights, wipers, and barely making it both ways
I just mothballed my VW diesel for the winter. Next March or April (if everything goes well) I'd open the car, turn the key... and the tank will still be as full as it is today. A 1990s design with a 1970s engine making at least a thousand kilometers on one tank. No, I can't imagine a 150-mile EV.
@@jmi5969can you fill up your diesel car at home?
@@AustinWirl Not literally at home: I can't and won't physically lift the car up the stairs. In the adjacent parking lot - sure. I always keep one full jerry can in the car, another at the city apartment, and more at my country farm. Charging an EV would be a tougher (but not impossible) proposition due to very low allocated power.
2:53 I'm sure Nathan would loved to have had that information prior to doing that drag race in this thing.
Yes...
Brilliant! Got to Denver with no breakdowns and apparently plenty of battery and mileage left!
If the speed was unrestricted and the Kandi delivered on it's promises it would be fantastic!
Hey I know!!! Lets keep driving something that breaks down regularly, knowing it can put me in danger!!!! YEAH!
I know. You enjoyed the video I bet.
Where is that intersection? 9:56
What road were you traveling on?
I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS
This “thing” is hilarious! I am laughing every second of you guys trashing it.
Make a video to see if you can get the speed limit removed!
I would like to see that would be interesting to see the battery life, but, could also be dangerous to life, and maybe limb..
The first basic 1965 mustangs were about 2,400 dollars. My new Cordoba was 6,500. in 1974. It was loaded too.
Let Nathan drive the more expensive electric vehicles 🙏
An hour to go 30 miles is standard Dallas traffic. 😂
Could you make the airbags compliant and delete the limiter?
If you ever get the answer to this question please let me know.
Thanks as always guys. Cheaper new electric cars have hard competition from second hand evs with good reputation for reliability, and because evs are quite simple to maintain, most people with some knowledge of ev's to have piece of mind in buying a used car would buy a used ev. From 3.000 USD we now can buy a nice Leaf with 9 points at the clever battery helth system on older Leafs, and I would rather take an old Leaf for shorter commuting and local transport. Best Regards from Arne in Norway
Nathan, this gets more views than Teslas, Lamborghini 's and such, so more $$ for you.
Buying a Kandi is like buying a Nissan. It's cheaper than everything else, but it's actually more expensive than everything else after you have to fix it every 15 minutes or buy another one.
Not sure what you mean… I have 3 Nissans and they are great!
I think you need to run it from full charge to empty a couple of times for it to calibrate the true battery level.
It would be great in Florida in some of the huge retirement villages...
To get back and forth to work or school, this is just fine. If it could get on the highway for brief jaunts, it would be a perfect commuter car.
What else must you see to believe it's a pos?
@@TimeMariner oh it totally is. I meant more that some thing like this would be a good commuter. Not a Kandi. 😂 But I’m curious to see how it holds up with them. The car could have sat for years and could be a lot of why it acted stupid for a while.
Jailbreak that Super Car. Come on man !!!
I think the k27 needs a k20 or k24 swap....
It looks like someone put a Fiat 500L in the microwave
"You didn't even need me". Well, there is the return journey.
If Nathan buys it, will he hack the Kandi to go 55 MPH and not 35 MPH?
Them Kandy Cars are banned in the USA!
Honestly, sort out all the gremlins, increase the speed and range, and it wouldn't be that bad. I don't actually hate the platform. It's not absolutely hideous looking and for short commutes throughout the week it wouldn't be terrible.
No way does that Rivian have a range of over 300 miles. NO WAY!! Take it out on I 70 to Russel Kansas and cruise at 75-80 mph or more like everyone else in other words move along with traffic and then tell us what you get for range. Thank you. Here is my guess. At 100-150 miles you will be looking for a charger.
Make that 75 miles if it's pulling an empty aluminum trailer, and 50 or less with something like the Kandi on the trailer.
I remember seeing a RUclips video with a couple guys driving around Dallas in a Kandi talking about its imminent launch. I don't remember them saying anything about only having a 35 MPH top speed. I've always wondered what happened with that car company. Since then I've seen loads of videos about Chinese EVs bursting into flames all over the country because they make them as cheap as possible to scam EV incentives out of the CCP. Maybe it's a good thing it wasn't introduced here, considering how difficult it is to extinguish those things.
Nathan's soooo funny lolol
Nathan commentary on this POS car is hilarious and well deserved!
I’d love to see a comparison between this “new” EV and an older used EV. Not sure about pricing but an early BMW i3 must be available for about the same price but it would have 170hp, slightly better range (depending on battery size) and be a whole lot more interesting 🤔
but what year are you talking about ? getting one for like what 12 to 15K ?
It's possible your charger at TFL headquarters fixed the state of the battery vs the state of charge the dealer gave you
So, how did the Kandi "almost kill you'?
He almost lost the will to live driving it.
This would be perfect for residents of The Villages 😆
9:43- is the Rivian steering wheel stitching coming undone?!
poor American quality brands Do not buy
I wonder what it’s like to insure that lol
I'm curious about cars that could fit within the European micro car classifications.

They are less strict than the M1 class where you find regular cars.
Would be awesome if it actually got 100mi of range
What if we mounted a chinese diesel generator on the kandy?
They're like dressed up electric yard tractors or golf carts. Golf carts are more dependable.
It looked like a
Fix it Again Tony lol.
Don't test pilots earn hazard pay?? Nathan, talk to Roman!
So its basically an electronic knock off of the ICE Fiat 500L and an ICE Smart ForTwo? It literally looks like those two cars had an electric baby........
Watching this video is basically making me want to buy one of these little get arounds....
Did the Kandi make it back after the event?
SOC is state of charge
Who comments before finishing the video?
Never heard of this car here in New England, and now I know why.
It showed 74% left but didn't it show a little over 50% when it died on the first run you did? You might have 24% left. Do you make it back home?
One of the best questions to ask is....
Will the Pickup Truck make it across the State of Kansas?
This car looks exactly like CAST, the Kei car sold in Japan by Japanese car manufacturer DAIHATSU.
because it is. Kandi license produced them with EV powertrain.
So i watched the whole video and the trip appeared pretty uneventful. Where's the part where the car ALMOST killed him?
Plot twist. The Kandi breaks down (Duh) and the electric truck loses all its range towing he Kandi and gets stuck too.
It's missing a valve stem cap!
Amusing that it has a tach
I would buy one if it' s at most 8,000 out the door, but 10,000 out the door, I don't know, maybe, does it qualify for the 7500 Federal Tax Credit for new owners?
that might really make it worth it, (I don't know at 12K with taxes and documentation?) like I said maybe at 10,000 out the door and you could get 7500.00 in
federal tax credit, making essentially the car under 4,000 (than yes, that's worth it, especially for people who take the bus right?) but do you get OK
air conditioning or heating ? that's acceptable? in very hot or cold weather ?
Chinese know how to cut corner.
Nathan!!!
Nathan victim is the word you should choose it should be parted out to recoup the purchase price you should have towed it close to the destination and drove it the last few miles
Need to put its original japanese made 659cc petrol engine back in
People say my car, a 2024 Mitsubishi Mirage ES is the worst new car, and I disagree. (:
Well my friend have one his daughter that he when to Texas a got for her to used to go back and forth school and work. They broke it got to go up to 70 miles an hour to use on the highways in Thibodaux Louisiana there are getting out of it 80 to 90 miles range but goes to school and goes to work and charge at home. Because there’s no charging stations in Thibodaux yet you just do it at your house. But she does charge at school the school put by the football stadium regular 110 outlets to allow them to use their personal chargers to give them some juice during school they paid $9500
Thanks for your post. Great info
Cool car on the cheap. Not sure I would park it in my Garage. Leave it out in the driveway incase the batteries catch fire.
It's not cheapest car, it's the most expensive golf cart.
Pretty sure that car with a tiny bit of sorting from kandy and good pricing would have a good chance of success in europe going against the citroen ami
Were they violating traffic law? driving and using handheld phone at the same time? and did not look at traffic but computer screen for a long period of time.
Were they endangering the public?
You can see the line of cars stuck behind Andre...
People drive 60 on the surface streets everywhere. That things a rolling road block.
A bit if distracted driving for Nathan. Good thing he it doesn’t allow him to go very fast.
This POS actually makes some sense. I live in the city where anything you can imagine is within range of this car but parking is at a premium & the speed limit is 25mph. I'd never buy one as my sole car but could see this as a decent local commuter 2nd car.
Ebikes are great for this use case, weather permitting.
@@keegan854 Yep. Been riding a bike my whole life. 6 years ago I converted my bike & e-bike instead of drive whenever not carrying passengers or cargo.
Do you couldn't have taken this south on 93, either. Geez. 😬
In China you would have at least 12 plus hours a day to charge at work. You work 9-9-6. You work long time to pay of car!
Nathan the Lab Rat. That's your new nick name.
Why are you selling it!
The next generation K car😂
Love that they have a EV truck with a trailer lol
China laughs as America goes green ,
Test rodent is Guinea Pig😅
You can buy a decent used car for that price. Old Camry, corolla, accord or Civic.
Haha, I am still waiting for the moment you guys take it to the gun range. Perhaps a tank shooting it would be a good send off.
1:27 music sounds a lot like you sing seen nothing yet by Bachman-Turner Overdrive!
This is what's coming for all of us..laugh now and cry later
What's the deal with all the ads? Is that a youtube thing now? Or from your channel? It's pretty frustrating...
They make you turn off ad blockers now. It's really annoying.
At the EV convention are they serving Koolaid?
I want to see the range of the Rivian while towing 11,000 pounds.
Theres is many videos about it… is like 1.5kwh/m you can get real world mileage like 160 miles in a full charge… to be in a safe spot you need to charge to 80% every 100 miles… because they don’t use Tesla superchargers yet most of the chargers always is broken that’s why i say is better charger every 100 miles just in case the chargers are broken you has a few miles to go to the next one
@@jminaya90 So not good for doing truck things unless you don't mind spending more time charging than actual driving if you want to go on a camping trip when you have to tow a camper and load up the truck with your gear. Like the Ford Lightening, EV trucks can only get its max range when it's not doing any of the truck things that it's designed to do.
5 miles
Is this better than a Kia/Hyundai? 😆
