  • Vintage Camper, Shasta Compact Garage Kept Since 1972! Retro!
    • Vintage Camper Tour, 1...
    This is my 1972 Shasta Compact! I have been searching for a vintage camper for a long time and after searching for over six months waiting and have multiple trailers sold out from under me I found the perfect camper! This is an all original 1972 Shasta Compact Camper that has been Garage kept all its life! It is complete down to the smallest detail Now I know what you are all thinking Its ashame that this camper has been inside all of its life and has 2 live outside in the hot sun and the freezing winters But after feeling guilty about that myself it is now safely stored indoors at my storage unit! I cant wit to take this camper out with my family! Me and my mother both love metal detecting and treasure hunting! One of our favorite places 2 search is at a special beach in Delaware and after a good storm there are incredible things 2 be found because of the loss of sand! But right after a big storm it can be tricky to find a place 2 stay so we got this and look forward to all the adventures it will take us on! Thank you guys for watching and I hope you come back to this channel for updates on the camper!

      I'm 15 and I'm obsessed with retro stuff, weather its tech, architecture, furniture and especially the cars. I own a 1970s record player with 1970s headphones and i am hopefully getting a 70s TV this week. I like to buy old stuff to prevent others getting hold of them and ruining them.

    My family had that, when I was in grade school. I don’t remember the wings on it thought. We had s toilet bucket, it was gross🤣. We used it a lot for going to the beach and across the country to visit our cousins. My Mother loved her tiny kitchen. The stove was great. Mom would put an ice block in the bottom of the fridge that would last at least 3-4 days. Have fun!

    A couple things... First, what is a "Standard 20 volt service?" Also, this thing is beautiful, so don't go modifying it or changing it or you will devalue it permanently. And one last thing, it looks like that because it's been stored all it's life. If you leave it outside, it won't stay that way long. You'll have leaking seams and everything else. I've had several, trust me on this one...

    • @squeakychairproductions6813
      @squeakychairproductions6813  7 лет назад +8

      Ok first thing is you caught me with the 20 volt hook up, I ment to say 20 amp Lol. Secondly I am very aware of the value of this camper and im not modifying it in any way because that would be a shame. As for storage it's it being stored indoors and it will remain that way for as long as I own it. I really appreciate the comment and thanks for watching!

    • @FrankiesFancy
      @FrankiesFancy 5 лет назад +1

      He'd better put some JB Weld on that fan crack or the water will eventually soak the structure around the inside of the fan and his whole roof will rot. At least JB Weld it until he can find a replacement cap. He should check around at some vintage trailer rallies, sites, groups on facebook. Can find tons of replacement parts from originals. Too many people get these little gems and "glamp" them, ripping out all originality. Those people should be shot...keep them vintage as much as possible! How else are future generations going to know what they looked like if we don't keep them original? And I was lucky enough to have been born in 1960 so I was 12 when these came out. I got to see them and enjoy them. I'd like all future generations to experience what I did...I'm glad this youngster is getting that feeling. Its heart warming.

      I forgot , first thing you Always check when buying an old caravan or rv camptrailer , are the gaps between the roof and sidepanels , no chalk will stay flex and watertight after so many years in rain , snow and sun , if you got no ladder for a first check , look inside the upper closets , closest to the roof , Damp , moist , discoulored ?? thats a warning sign !!!

    You're going to have a lot of fun with that camper. Double check the tires. With an RV it isn't the tread that wears out, it's the sidewalls that crack from age & sunlight & ozone, etc. When a sidewall blows out on the highway it often causes more expensive damage than several sets of tires. Put on GOOD tires & drive safely. Safety first, it has to be that way.

    I was 2 in 1972! I absolutely love this trailer! How lucky, you found it in such pristine condition! I guess I’m old-school; I’d leave everything as is. I’d leave all original lights and curtains and laminate....colors....everything! Have fun with it!

    i lived in the twin to this trailer in Alaska for three years!! loved it, and due to the small size, 10 feet long, it was easy to heat. traveled all over the state with it. when I moved out of state, that was the only thing i regretted having to sell. perfect for one or two people. ron

    OMG I have the same one, mine is so dang cute and get a lot of comments on it, but I need a bigger bed and a table cuz it only sleeps me. I will convert mine how yours is though. Tomorrow I will send you pictures of mine. Weather is bad tonight so not going out there. I’m repainting inside so ignore some of the pictures I will send you. Getting a new floor tomorrow. Cant wait! Thank you for this video.

    Very nice condition, and practical camper. With a table that big it's like a traveling poker house. LP gas light is nice too, and those alone will heat the camper on slightly chilly nights. You have an excellent find, and it'll last a good long time if you take care of it.

    Heck of a nice Camper i wish you the very best of safe travels and good times if i may offer you some. Good advice after towing many Campers and trailers take the time and effort into servicing your hubs and. Putting new tires. On right away anything of that age and era is old and not as good as what todays modern tires have to offer. Plus. You. Will be familiar with what you have or need. For spares and roadside repairs. Its way easier and cheaper to do the preventative. Maintenance in your driveway than Somewhere. You dont know or have all the tools. For plus i highly reccomend buying a stair pair of bearings as cheap insurance heck the tires are cheap as can be if you order them online and you can make those old ones Spare tires. Ive spent way too many hours. In the dark. On the side of the road Rebuilding hub systems in the dark and cold Honestly that sucks If you take the time early to know exactly what you. Have like axle sizes and Parts. Its easy as heck and very cost friendly to source. Things. On the internet at your leisure than under pressure in the middle of BFE trust me i was young. Myself once and it took me years to learn that lesson especially if you are going to travel and camp with a wife and family as it is. Not fun for them to. See you stressed out or making them worry unessarily

      So true! My RV got two flats on rear wheels in 110F heat on side of freeway about 1 foot away from moving cars. There was a very narrow shoulder. Change all tires immediately plus one spare.

      Hi Craig. I just purchased a 1963 Fleetwood craft for $200 it needs refurbishing inside but everything is in excellent shape no leaks I don't know anything about fixing trailers are the Hub things you were talking about. A guy I know is going to help me restore it can you give me any advice so I can make sure he does everything right any advice would be so appreciated the most important things 2 look at it seems like you know what that is. Plus I can ask him about it and know if he really knows what he's doing. Hard to trust people these days thank you for any advice you could give me.
