Idk if you have the option available at employer but I have convinced several friends to do this at work and use the ESPP Employee Stock Purchase Plan. They aren't interested in keeping it invested into the stock but the company takes and sets aside set amount every paycheck and then at end of June and Dec they purchase the stock @ 15% discount into their account. Honestly, one of the easiest ways I found to save money (besides budgeting) was to meal plan. I see what’s in my pantry, freezer and fridge and go from there. We hardly ever get takeout during the week anymore. I do my grocery pick up list online. If I go into the store, I will spend way more money.
To be a successful business owner and investor, you have to be emotionally neutral to winning and losing. Winning and losing are just part of the game. Risk comes from not knowing what you are doing.
Absolutely!! I'll have to be financially stable in every sense before living a luxurious lifestyle. The best thing to do with your money is to invest rightly because money left saving will end up with no returns.
At 60 years old and newly retired, my external retirement funds total around One million two hundred and fifty thousand dollars.. With no debt and minimal retirement fund allocation relative to my portfolio's value over the last three years, I recognize the importance of a financial advisor. Neglecting them isn't an option; however, thorough research is vital to find a trustworthy fiduciary advisor

Those payday loans are terrible. I used them years ago and it took forever to get out of that cycle. I'm glad that some states have blocked them and other states like Maryland have capped interest rates at 24.99 percent. And even that is high.
I have Mint Mobile and pay $200 once a year for the lowest data plan. I think that what you quoted for the 2 lines with unlimited data sounds about right. Either way unless you live in the back of nowhere it is the lowest cost option for good service most of the time.
I pay $29.99 a month with Spectrum mobile for two lines. I think it is because I use their internet. I pay $84 in internet. I would look into Spectrum mobile. Lowest I have ever seen. It is not a promotional price. Been with them over a year now and not changed
I grew up in that town and lived in that neck of woods for 37 years. People asking why would anyone live in an HOA area, 1) she is a condo, automatic HOA, and they can also charge you for any outside major repairs (like a new roof if the budget doesn’t cover it) 2) many neighborhoods there are now HOA, the ones that aren’t are very old areas and the housing would be way higher than a condo. She should check AT&T because while Verizon does cover that area, att works very well in hampstead which is much farther out so it probably is an option. The main grocery store is much higher than Walmart and there an Aldi in Westminster not far from reisterstown. See if that can drop the food bill. Good luck you can do this Megan!
I love when you talk about your personal experience and your Insights. Thank you for making this budgeting as easy to digest. Thank you thank you thank you ❤
It would be better to just have one full time job that pays more. A teenage girl with special needs needs her mom around and not gone all the time working. Also why do people buy homes with HOA fees? It makes no sense
As someone who works at a YMCA, the gym charge is the same as we charge an employee to have another person on their membership. For me, I pay just under $45/month for the family gym membership (which for the Y covers a lot more than just access to a work out area) but the same membership for nonemployees is $75/month.
Surprised to see her say she's so strict with her spending when she has $260 cell phone, $900 food for 2 people, personal spending $250, $250 for her daughter, plus $100 allowance, PLUS $150 for the household. That's $1910 that could/should be like $700. That's not even including cutting subscriptions. This is a fine budget for someone who is doing well. She isn't, she's taking out payday loans and is behind on her bills like her HOA fees. Also, no one who is in the green is taking out payday loans, so I think she isn't sticking to her budget.

My thoughts: The amount of money being spent on takeout and alcohol is excessive. Yet I do understand the need to feel "normal". I would cut that down to less than a hundred. I was a huge take out person until I didn't have 2 pennies to rub together. I found recipes online and found my love of cooking.
Mint Mobile user here! Our phones are bought outright, and we have two lines. One is unlimited data and the other is for 15GB/mo. We pay $393 every 6 months which works out to just under $66/mo. We live in a small city that is half rural, and besides some dead zones in the far out rural areas, no complaints here!
Thanks for sharing this video. Your videos and methods of saving and getting out of debt are helping me and my family. God bless. I'm sorry about your mom🙏🏽.
Since I joined here in 2022, the amount that I managed to save up to now is completely out the door today. My tooth broke and now I have to pay the dentist more then I was able to save. I’ve been doing the bare bones budgeting and I can’t seem to get richer.
Yeah unfortunately life throws those curve balls. At least you had that saved to help cover that emergency. Tooth pain is awful and an emergency to get taken care of. These last 2 years of inflation has really put a strain on trying to save up with the costs of living. Just keep going and you will come out ahead so don't get discouraged.

Something that I don't see mentioned often and wish I did is getting rid of the Kindle subscription and joining your local public library. Most have the Libby app for ebooks, and even if you think your town is too small to have anything good most libraries are part of some kind of network that allows for interlibrary loans. Plus many libraries offer so many other programs and funding is so often dependent on people actually using services. Guys please save money and join (and use!) the library!
Ding ding ding 😂 I swear it’s the only reliable service in Maryland! I have friends on other plans that have terrible service!! It’s also 2 cell phones and 2 iPads.
@@meghanflynn690 you kiddo should qualify for one of the Free telephone programs. Here in PA, for folks with disabilites, it's called the Pennsylvania's Telecommunication Device Distribution Program (TDDP).
So one of the ways I tackle her not having enough for fun things, is I keep the fun things in mind when spending my weekly allowance. When spending anything actually. Any extra left over from a bill fund? That goes to that funds "3months ahead" envelope. Anything left over in spending, and eating out goes in one of the envelopes for fun things. Such as an extra vacation 😊. (Our main annual vacation is budgeted in as an expense, but it's $200 for the year so not much weekly and is at a campground.) Spending less on gas for the week could also see the extra going towards a vacation too, although currently it's going to a car repair fund until I hit 5k in that.
Hi I have been binge watching your videos. I do wish you would come back. I finally started my highlighting budgeting today. Wish me luck with it also taking a 1/4 of my house payment each week. Thank you for what you do
Having worked for Non-profit in my younger years as a single mom, though I loved it, I had to move to the private sector to be paid for what I was doing. Career change would be first on my list. The cell phone amount stressed me out, lol. I just paid $180 for a year of mint mobile BUT, after paying for 15g of use I found I use around 1g so I was able to take the lowest subscription. I would definitely shop around on that cell phone. Gym membership also stood out to me since you work for a gym. You look in good shape being mostly debt free so some tweaking should bring you great success. Good Luck Meghan!!!
I appreciate this type of video. In this budget I would definitely look closer at the eating out and grocery bill portions. It seems excessively high for 2 people. I bet with a little meal planning and grocery list that bill could be lower. Make eating out more of a special treat versus a "I am tired, drive through it is." It is amazing how one less meal out/or drink can add up to great savings. I wish you great luck! It can be done.
I started budgeting cause I came across one of your videos by mistake lol...I was doing so good but I got caught up in spending money on all the pretty savings challenges and now I'm back at the beginning😢

I cringe at the thought of payday loan!
Prayers for that mom! ✝️🙏🏼🙏🏼
Thanks for sharing this video. Your videos and methods of saving and getting out of debt are helping me and my family. God bless. I'm sorry about your mom🙏🏽.
I'm so sorry to hear about your mother 💔
Since I joined here in 2022, the amount that I managed to save up to now is completely out the door today. My tooth broke and now I have to pay the dentist more then I was able to save. I’ve been doing the bare bones budgeting and I can’t seem to get richer.
Yeah unfortunately life throws those curve balls. At least you had that saved to help cover that emergency. Tooth pain is awful and an emergency to get taken care of. These last 2 years of inflation has really put a strain on trying to save up with the costs of living. Just keep going and you will come out ahead so don't get discouraged.
@@Bamapride1985 I don’t think so. In a few years I’ll be retired, so I lost hope. My retirement support will be robbing these younger couples who have a house, car and children. I never had any of that. I’ll do whatever it takes to screw them since my hard work never was rewarding. I now have nothing to lose, just take from others.
@@Bamapride1985NO! This will completely drain all my savings. Time to steal to get by. I will never be able to save before retirement and that is less than ten years. Always shit happens.
Excellent video. Such clear precise advice.
How can I set up an appointment with you to do this for me? help :)
Love your videos ❤
Can I be your next real life budget? Please
Love these real-life budgets!
I'm pretty sure that she has Verizon. It's common in that area of Maryland, and the price looks right 😆
Ding ding ding 😂 I swear it’s the only reliable service in Maryland! I have friends on other plans that have terrible service!! It’s also 2 cell phones and 2 iPads.
@@meghanflynn690 Trust me, I feel your pain!
I'm SO HAPPY that you're doing videos on RUclips again!!! I listen to(and sorta watch) them when I'm dashing!!!
My favorite videos of you ❤
Hi I have been binge watching your videos.
Hello nice video do you had a monthly saving budget book that can keep my savings plan.take care.❤😊🙏🙏❤
I started budgeting cause I came across one of your videos by mistake lol...I was doing so good but I got caught up in spending money on all the pretty savings challenges and now I'm back at the beginning😢
So glad these videos are back! I think Megan needs to move. That mortgage and high HOA fee is ridiculous! That was the first thing I had to do. I was living way above my paychecks.
Are there any videos of single parent budgets with more than 1 child?
I watched one of your old videos and saw how you have separate accounts for your sinking funds. I had the ability to do that as well. Got it all done including monthly transfers to each account. It will make my life so easy. Just wanted to say thank you for all your help!
Would it be possible to order and deliver the workbook from/to Germany?
