Honestly the sort of vampire blue faced looked wasn't even a bad thing to stay on, pretty cool like a magician, and then to completely change his voice to this higher more delighted tone, with a skull for a head is just brilliant. A complete 180 to the character and perfect origin story.
They didn't say it was Mark Hamill doing this series, just that he's now been VA for another villain with acid burns to his face. I get why there was a misunderstanding, there's no shame in it. But they weren't saying this clip was Mark Hamill, just as they weren't saying this character is the Joker. No need for insults.
Hordak: “There will be a price.” Keldor: “No price is too great.” (Hordak turns Keldor into Skeletor) (Skeletor looks at his own reflection) Skeletor: “That wasn’t so bad. At least I now look creep- huh? Hey, what happened to my voice!?” Hordak: “Well, what did you think I meant when I said there will be a price?” Skeletor: “You bastard!”
In the mini comics first it was told that he was a demon from another dimension. Then further into the stories, it was hinted that he was indeed Keldor, the long lost brother of Randor. Randor explained to Adam that his brother Keldor was researching dimensions and magic, and one day he was transported to a dimension never to be seen again. Skeletor spying on Randor and He-Man as they prepared to enter a portal in search for Keldor, says that if Randor discovers the secret of Keldor, it would undo him (Skeletor). The story was never continued nor concluded, but that is what was used on this amazing version of the series.
Virtuallly nobody really had an origin story in the original cartoon. We get Queen Marlena's story at one point, and the Sorceress sums up her story in flashbacks in one episode. But we don't ever see how Adam becomes He-man the first time, though the more recent everybody-is-15 cartoon at least touched on it. Are Skeletor's henchmen natural members of races otherwise never seen, or subjects of Skeletor's experiments? Evil Lyn? How was the absence of Teela's mother explained away for 20 plus years? What were Randor's parents like? What exactly is Duncan's backstory? How did he get with the Sorceress? Was he just wandering by Grayskull one afternoon and she invited him in for tea? And He-man's allies seem just as odd as Skeletor's. Are there millions of Ram Man's kin bounding around just over some mountains somewhere?
The 2002 He-Man really was a good show. Its a shame it didn't get the ratings and merch sales to keep it going. (And WHY didn't achieve either is actually a story of its own)
I haven't seen the new series, but this looks pretty good. When I was a kid I would watch the original HeMan series,I loved it. It still have my of toys, but this looks almost like a graphic novel come to life. Interesting to see Skeletors origan.
This was the version that I grew up with and it's pretty good overall for both origins of characters, stories, action, and just building upon the original. It's worth a watch if you're a HeMan fan because this version is definitely better than the more recent version as choices in this version make sense.
Man every time I see this episode it reminds me of that Christmas episode from the series BraveStarr where the Shaman showed Tex Hex his past and how he met Stampede who saved his life the same way Hordak saved Keldor's life by turning him into Skeletor.
I have the dvd set of the cartoon this is from, and I did watch this scene when it was on that show on tv originally too, and it blew my mind also💁🏻♂🤯.
Holy shit, shows from the early 2000s were so godlike. No political agenda, no subverted expectations ,no forced diversity just pure fantasy, imagination and a straight to the point storyline with likeable characters.
Not sure, but in the original comics that came with the toys, Skeletor was one of a race of skull faced creatures from another dimension who wanted the secrets of Grayskull so he could open a portal to allow his species to invade Eternia.

His backstory is kind of tragic in the classics comic though. He is the half brother of randor and technically should be the king

This twice as funny because Skeletor is voiced by mark hamill in the new series.
Keldor had one bad day >:3
So now mark hamil has voiced TWO evil characters who were made with a chemical spill. Hilarious.

@@trueblue6201 nope he was in the netflix.
