I was so disappointed when you started grinding and sanding. I thought it was really cool right out of electrolysis. Restore the hitting surface, do some minimal work on the claws...and put in a new handle. Wire wheel the rest of it...then it would have been a talking piece.
That is very interesting how you did the electrolysis. Have you ever considered applying that technique to making hydrogen for fuel for combustion engines? Maybe not as the only fuel, but an additive to create a higher octane for the fuel you use?
Learn what a restoration is. Why did you file out the drift? You highly modified it. Destroy the character of it by removing the cool work marks from the original smith who forged it by hand with a hammer. Looks like a $4 hammer from dollarstore now.

Good tips on restoring hammers. I have 3 old hammers stored that needs restoring, and now I know how to go about it.
So much work for one nail! 😀
You hammered this one out nicely!👍😁

Yes, I saw something like this, but the idea arose to make a mini-burner using the resulting gas.
Great video just subscribed keep more videos coming Russ from Nevada 🇺🇸
That was a cool hammer until you ground all the character off of it

Awesome man. What is your belt sander setup? That is cool
All homemade. As he did, he shot the video on the second channel "Old Rusty crafts", But there is not enough time to finish it.
How do you suppose the head is?
GENIAL. Saludos desde Barcelona Catalonia
Gracias.
if you plan to brush it, file it and sand it, what is hydrolysis for?
I tried to clean without hydrolysis - very hard.
Isn't that a mushroom knife that you're using? I got gifted one and was told it was for mushrooms but I'm not so sure now 🤔
It's also a rose pruning knife. It's also a WW1 corpsman's knife... maybe there's more options.
@@OldRusty oh wow I didn't know that, thank you so much. And amazing videos btw 😊😊
