Nice work getting up those sections 1:45-2:00! It takes some time on the bike to really get comfortable with it, especially when going from a 4 stroke to a two stroke like you did. Utah is calling, looks so fun!!
Try the Suzuki necj needle or throw a lectron on it. I did an 85 mile ride in Warner valley a while back with mixed riding of technical , higher speed roads and trails and still had a half gallon that I drained from the tank after the ride. That was with the lectron 36. Being in Utah and covering a wide range of elevation I love not having to re jet. My bike is a 2016 race edition.
Oh yeah, a Lectron may be a good idea for me. If I do that I think I might do a comparison where I go ride like 50 mile loop before and after the Lectron install and film it for the channel.
@@DBT-Nick IDK, everyone is all about the lectron or smart carb, but I don't see the advantage unless you do massive elevation changes. I mean, the bike comes with the Keihin which is awesome! Just have to adjust it so you don't loose fuel....and it's free...it came with your bike.
@@DBT-Nick I invested in a Lectron for my 17 Beta. It gave us more low end and gives it an all around leaner feel. After riding with the Lectron for over two year that on my next beta I won’t get a Lectron. The Kehin is really good. I think the Lectron is lean. Long term I think it has stressed my motor. For my level of riding the Kehin is really good. Yes jetting at high altitude is the down side.
Sweet bike man. I had to adjust the float on mine because it would dump fuel everywhere. Lower the float and loop the overflow tube. Should run a little more efficient
The pipe runs really good. It's the same shape as the stock pipe so same performance. In about 6 months we will be producing an amazing pipe for this bike. Stay tuned.
NECJ or NEDK needle probably a 40 pilot and a 170 main. Adjust a little from there as necessary. Should get better mileage and power is smooth and linear.
I need to learn more about carburetors. I went to Montana last year and put in a 18 plot jet. At 5,000 ft it didn't run too great but climbing past 6,000 all the way up to 8,000 it ran amazing! Also one thing about that day was I was sure I was going to run low on fuel so I brought extra, but I didn't even need it on a 6 hour ride... It's confusing.
@@DBT-Nick jetting makes a huge difference. Also float height. If it's too high it dribbles tons of fuel. I usually get 60-70 miles on 2.6 gallons in pretty much all conditions besides open road that drinks it. Mine isn't a beta, but jetting is pretty close all the 300's
I personally don't really like lectron or Smart carb. Of the 2 I prefer the smart carb. It's adjustable externally. Makes fine tuning way easier. Neither 1 has a float bowl overflow line. Therefore you don't dribble fuel. But you will occasionally fill your crankcase with fuel if you forget to turn off your petcock while traveling to your ride destination. Or even on the trail on in the garage while sitting. That's mostly after you've had them for a while and the needle valve isn't 100% any more. I've had to deal with both carbs doing that. I hate pulling a spark plug trailside or in the morning trying to get my bike going while everyone else is waiting on me. With the keihin carb, I do have to rejet a couple times a year. Take me all of about 10 minutes. I live in western colorado, ride everything from 13,000' down to 2,000'. In the summer I'll run a 38 pilot and 165 main that covers 5,000' up to 13,000 feet pretty damn good. Come winter time, I run 40 pilot 170 main. That lets me run at my house at 7,000' down to St George last weekend and green river the 2 weeks before that. Sometimes if I'm going to california I'll bump the jetting a bit richer on the main. Otherwise I just swap jetting spring and fall when the temps swing and the high country opens up and closes down.
On video, yes totally they're sketchy. I feel like when you've been riding for an hour or more you're pretty tuned in to your bike so they don't seem to bother me when I'm there, but I totally know what you mean.

Good looking and talented, the bike looks good too!
Oh baby not as talented as you. Can I come down this month to ride?
Getting a new 300 next week. Yeah!

For real. That's a great suggestion!
@@DBT-Nick The float level is your problem for sure! Raise it up a bit and loop the overflow over the carb and back down.
How is this pipe? Where it runs? High rpms?

Nice! Hopefully in a year we'll have a pipe for that too.

If I get a Lectron, will that solve it? Haha I would rather spend my time with my kids than mess around with a carburetor, lol

@@johnhead8567 Word! Want to get smart carb mileage out of your Keihin? plug the overflow line...or do it the right way and set the float height.
What did you do to the forks to gain more confidence in the front end?
Oh, I increased the rebound speed! Made a big difference for me.
You didn’t talk about price? How does it compare to other two strokes, and what about four strokes? Would it be a cheaper option
Cheaper than KTM!
