That thing could be sitting on a shelf for years... they pay for rant you know while its little it still takes some place, distribute it with all the other items sitting in the store it might cost them that 50 dollars to store for a year or two.
I don't see how he's being honest when he's low-balling so bad he called $1700 for a small product that doesn't take up much space and was appraised at $2500 to much. That right there is a 47% profit if he gets the whole value and even at $2100 over a 25% profit on a small item that isn't eating up much space to have sitting around.
I really enjoy this staged show and love the rehearsed/scripted, educated and detailed descriptions Chum, Hoss, and Rick give on every item they encounter. Very entertaining!
Equally rare to have a customer who's asking price ISN'T at or above the market price. Turns out if you ask a reasonable amount, you get a reasonable offer.
As far as I know, there has never been a case of the customer being grateful enough to take the offer where the employee offered them more than their asking price. There have been several clips on Pawn Stars where they come in with their asking price, and the employee was gracious enough to let them know it's more valuable than the customer though, and where they actually offer the customer more than their asking price, yet instead of them being grateful and happily taking the deal, instead they jack up their asking price beyond even that offer the employee offered them. It just comes off as ungrateful. I mean, they're being offered more than their asking price, yet suddenly that's not enough for them. It'd be nice to see a deal where they take the deal after being offered more than they asked, instead of them haggling.

Buddies... But, Rogue Toys is about a 5 minute walk from the shop... Kount's Kustoms and Rick Dale are a 10 minute drive. However, what we see here are just reactments. The pricing and authentication have all been agreed and worked out prior to filming. Once they agreed to everything, they film everything in the pawnshop. Nevada law prevents you from filming a pawn transaction, but you can film a pawnshop.
You can say that about most of the stuff that comes though Pawn Stars, every other customer walks in there with Abraham Lincoln's left nut. Though to be fair, it seems more likely that all that is just shown for the camera and not sold, the owners either keep their things or sell them at auction.
i love chumm only one u can make good deals with on the other hand rick mannnn guy- wants 2000 rick-let me call a buddy buddy-this is worth 20,000 rick-best i can do is 200 and thats a huge risk right there because i have to do all the paper work and stuff and takes me a while to sell it
No i know exactly how business works , i mean he got offered his first asking price he shouldve just took it, but i mean he got like a hundred more dollars from it so
Made sense to me, companies used cartoon characters to market their products back in the day... so they just slapped the popeye brand on the box and suddenly the product rose in demand. It was a poorly edited transition from that point to his appraisal though.
This is a good way you can tell how fake this show is, they make Chumli look like he is such an idiot all the time but then someone brings an item into the shop to get a price and all of a sudden Chumli is a genious and knows all about history?
Do... do you not know who Popeye is? It's not exactly esoteric knowledge to know Popeye was a sailor who ate spinach, went on adventures, and had a girlfriend named Olive Oyle... There was a live action movie starring Robin Williams for craps sake! This is on par with knowing Mickey is a mouse and belongs to Disney.
I know that a what I'm saying it's fake, but it's not all a show, the people and items are real just everything is fake, the deal, the store, the knowledge, everything else scripted
fjvideo because you already knew what you were going to ask for before he brought that expert in. The expert is so the buyer doesnt get fucked, not the seller.
1700? I have no room at all for that number! 1650? I think that gives me plenty of room!!!
Plum Life that niggga dumb ass hell

At least they met in the middle.
LMFAO bro 😂
That's how they became soo rich....
...
By squeezing every penny out of every deal...
They are THE BEST in this type of business
CHUM has unlocked a new ability _“calling someone for information”_
Xbox Notification: Achievement Unlocked
Except with Swords and McDonalds stuff
I'm sure the ability to ask a man to blow him down isn't new by a long stretch.
After like 5 years
Seb Sebastian gang!
I'd prefer to watch Chum's honesty and poor acting over Rick's dishonest laugh and poor haggling.
IKMNification no his son is the scammer
Chumlee lowballs harder than rick though :P
Honest? Guy said no problem getting $2500. Easily make $900 on a $2650 buy.
IKMNification until Yvonne I'm

“You should have no problem getting $2500 for them”
“Okay thanks for the free evaluation I’ll throw them on eBay.”
But if you " throw them" on eBay and the highest bid is $5, you have to stick with it and sell it for that price, right?
SamuraiSamara 69 nope
SamuraiSamara 69 you can set what you want the minimum bid to be or you can just have a “buy it now” price.
MrClassicDoctorWho and have fun sitting on them for 5 years + because you don’t have any idea how to sell ur items 🙃
You can put a reserve price and if it doesn’t meet the reserve price, it will restart the bid.
Taking a huge risk, it was a small comic. Best I can offer is $1
Chris Thomson that was orginal
LMAO
Look, I have to frame this, and at auction, it will cost me 30%, and it's going to sit on the wall for a year, the market is a niche market, so....
They’d hire you for sur e
I will give another dollar Tuesday for the comic today
Chumlee did a great job and I was glad he agreed to give the guy 1650 Rick would have said how about 500 and I'm taking all the risk
Wow spoil the show comments are seen buds
Amen
And they call him the dumb one
Until he said “Blow me down...”
“Guy brings Lincoln’s hat”.
Rick:best I can do is 25 cents
fourscore and seven (87) cents
In Rick we trust
Seller before expert: "I'd like to get 1500"
Seller after expert: "I can't do 1500"
This guy had the 🤑 in his eyes when he heard the evaluation.
I really enjoy this staged show and love the rehearsed/scripted, educated and detailed descriptions Chum, Hoss, and Rick give on every item they encounter. Very entertaining!
I love how people come in a pawn shop thinking they are going to get full price lol
Lmao “blow me down” right in his face. He was so proud of himself that he made a deal he said what he was thinking
He's Popeye himself
chumlee sounds so filled with knowledge of what item they bring in and yet still calls a buddy in
Guy brings in George Washingtons pistol:
Rick: the best I can do is $12
Rick "We'll have to try to find George Washngton to come in here to buy back his pistol. He's dead, so that's going to be hard to do. I can go $1.50."
As long as YA Tittle takes all the risk.
Indeed, the I can do
Well,,,,, it was "Revolutionay"!
Ok the very best I can do is $12 and a piece of chewed gum.
I remember my first can of spinach my muscles bulged and I tipped over a car at the age of 5
Mr.Wellington Von Duke III Of course you did.
true story, I seen it happen
I was there too. Amazing
was it a toy car?
That spinach was laced with PCP my friend. I know because I had some like that myself. Good shit!
Those were pretty cool. Was fun to watch. Great video
1650 "plenty of room" 1700 "can't do, gotta find a buyer"
0:31 "Do you mind if I open it up?"
" *NO* "
korus the answer is correct. It’s “ no I don’t mind”
*chum Proceeds to open it*
@@bayquin6114 he said "DO YOU MIND" not "CAN I"
korus I laughed at that part and I came to the comments to find this specific one.
@@jzip Do you mind if i can ?
*Points to other side of the room*. "I'll meet you right over here" 3:38
you dont have to explain who popeye is he is a legend
"I have to find someone who's gonna pay $2500 for them" sells them for $4k okay we get ya lol
Mr. Brown used those guns famously.
Ok

At 0:50, did anyone else have FROSTY THE SNOWMAN VIBES? lol
What a wholesome old man.
I love pawn stars writing Chum is curious about an old box but not concerned if samurai swords he bought and old and genuine ..
I love Chumlee how he deal with the seller
Chum's the best 😎👍
He knows what he's talking about , but is funny and not arrogant 👍👍
Winn winn 🤙
This is the first time in this show that I finally hear someone answer the question "Do you mind if ..." correctly :D
I've been binging and noticed it's about 50/50
Dude asks for 1500 and when offered 1500 don’t want it no more 😂
Chum has unlocked new ability
Use phone
Chum: I think these are pretty cool, you mind if i open them up?

Oops Oops Exactly
BvousBrainSystems It is scripted.
Chum is trying to tell this guy about Popeye when the old guy grew up watching the cartoon. That is a great find for its age and looks well preserved.
Chumlee is my favorite star
Chumlee is the most likable employee
First person to say "No" in pawn stars whenever they tell the seller " do you mind"
I've been watching a bunch of these and I've noticed it's 50/50
funny thing ,,,,, if you don't have the box it worth only $40
Mr.brown and spinach got along famously
Excellent box of Popeye Chumlee..great pick up :))
Who else thought the old guy WAS Popeye?
LOL Yeah, I can see that! ;)
Getting a history lesson from Chumlee must be maddening
LOL Yeah, I am 59 and kind of cringed at that too! ;)
Rick is turning into the old man and lowballing everyone
That was a long handshake.....
Its was longer than usual and he said blow me down👀
You know that guy washed his hands with Dawn dish soap and Clorox bleach when he went home.
1:22
Well..yes someone made this box
obviously stuff is worth more if nobody made it
i love chumm only one u can make good deals with on the other hand rick mannnn

Chumley: *opens the box*
Comes in there asking for 1500 gets a good evaluation and then gets offered 1500 and says no wtf
Humans are greedy. Shocker right?
You two obviously don't understand how a business works.
@Josh B I do, buy high, sell low. Its business 101. Guaranteed profits everytime.

No i know exactly how business works , i mean he got offered his first asking price he shouldve just took it, but i mean he got like a hundred more dollars from it so

Chum has his salesman buzzwords on point
I have this exact same box, in better shape. Been looking forever for the value of these!
want to sell it?
Mr. Brown and Popeye played with these famously!
When chin said Blow Me Down, how funny would it have been if the old man took out his teeth, got on his knees and said I’m ready lol

I don't know but Popeye one favorites and cool. A really neat collector piece however which way
"Blow me down!"
*YOU WHAT!*
That’s a pleasant exchange.
Mr.Brown played with those when he was a kid famously
Rest In Peace Chumlee 😫
He popped the eye himself!

Why would you rely on an expert the buyer brings in?
fjvideo because you already knew what you were going to ask for before he brought that expert in. The expert is so the buyer doesnt get fucked, not the seller.
I’ve never seen anyone haggle like this in a real pawn shop. In real life they give you one price and it’s take it or leave it.

to all the people who make fun of them for low offers remeber this is a pawn shop smh gotta love buns

well ya... that's your job that you're getting payed to do...
Sounds like Chum is reading a script.
*Walks in* "I want 15 hundred *Walks out* "I wanted 25 hundred but oh well"
A normal pawn shop would have given him 20 bucks.
I did the same as chum with the spinach but I love spinach pies
